Earlier sources: Space

Space research and engineering study the universe and build the systems used to reach and observe it. Follow astronomy, spacecraft, launch systems, satellites, exploration, and Earth observation.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

535 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Orbital Stability of Apsidally Aligned Planetary Systems ↗

The dynamical stability of compact planetary systems is known to depend strongly on orbital eccentricities, but the physical role of apsidal alignment remains poorly understood. We investigate this problem using direct {\em N}-body simulations by separating planetary eccentricities into a systematic component shared by all planets and a random component that determines the degree of apsidal alignment. We find that these two components play fundamentally different dynamical roles. Random eccentricity destabilizes planetary systems by driving neighboring planet pairs into the regime of mean-moti…

From Regional Deformation to Critical Coastal Infrastructure-Scale Ground Instability Across the Caspian Port Network: Insights from Multi-Temporal Radar Satellite Earth Observation ↗

The Absheron Peninsula contains a dense network of Caspian ports and industrial terminals where vertical land motion (VLM) may affect infrastructure performance. We analyzed fourteen port-associated coastal analysis zones using ascending and descending Sentinel-1 SBAS-InSAR observations from 2017 to 2024. Two-geometry decomposition was used to derive the vertical-deformation component from the complementary ascending and descending viewing geometries. The two-dimensional solution also provides an east–west component, but the present study is specifically focused on vertical land motion; theref…

A design space for AI integration in early-stage production plant planning ↗

Early-stage production plant planning is characterised by evolving requirements, incomplete process definitions, and information distributed across documents, engineering models, and planning tools. Introducing artificial intelligence in this setting raises a fundamental question: what must be considered before a specific application, data model, or technical solution can be defined? Existing research typically starts from an already identified planning task, a selected artificial intelligence method, or an available technical infrastructure. It therefore provides limited guidance for structur…

Cosmological inference with halo clustering reconstructed from the redshift-space galaxy distribution ↗

Accurate modeling of small-scale redshift-space clustering is crucial for full shape RSD analyses, where satellite galaxies contribute to 1-halo terms and Finger-of-God distortions. We investigate halo reconstruction based on the cylinder grouping (CG) method of Okumura et al. (2017), which selects an effective halo center tracer from the observed galaxy distribution, and how it impacts cosmological parameter inference. Using DESI-like luminous red galaxy mock catalogs from the AbacusSummit simulations at $z=1.1$, we perform effective field theory (EFT)-based full-shape modeling of the power s…

A Search for Dust in the Outflow of the HH212 Class 0 Protostellar System ↗

Perhaps the most visually striking phenomenon during star formation is the ejection of material along the direction of the protostar's rotational axis. Observed in the form of molecular outflows and/or atomic jets, these features carry away mass, energy and angular momentum from the system. Given the known dust content of protoplanetary disks, and the energetics of outflows, it has been suggested that it should be possible to lift dust from disks via winds, yet limited observational evidence has been presented in the literature. Any detection of dust within protostellar outflows not only puts…

Planet forming disk populations and their connection to the environment ↗

Existing sub-mm observatories such as ALMA have provided statistics on the planet-forming mass reservoirs within circumstellar disks around stars in stellar clusters out to distances of $\sim$400pc. However, these disks are not where most planets form. Many stars, and hence planets, form in more massive clusters, which are only found at larger distances. Environmental conditions that affect disks - such as UV radiation field, ambient gaseous mass reservoir, and stellar density - change significantly as a function of cluster mass, implying that our current knowledge of the disk population from…

How to assess evidence about Space

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
