Earlier sources: Space

Space research and engineering study the universe and build the systems used to reach and observe it. Follow astronomy, spacecraft, launch systems, satellites, exploration, and Earth observation.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

519 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

An updated view of Jupiter's UV main auroral emission: large-scale analysis of UV and particle data from Juno's first 60 orbits ↗

The properties and origins of Jupiter's UV main auroral emission are, at present, not yet fully understood, particularly the extent to which its two distinct zones, the Zone-I and Zone-II aurora, originate from a common source. In this work, remote-sensing and in-situ data from the Juno spacecraft are used to investigate and produce maps of the average properties of the main emission over Juno's first 60 orbits. It is found that the peak in mean energy of electrons precipitating in the main emission is consistently poleward of the energy-flux (or brightness) peak, in both hemispheres and at al…

Interaction of eccentricity tide and convection ↗

Aim. We try to understand the interaction of eccentricity tide and convection in icy satellites. Method. We use the numerical calculation of rotating convection with eccentricity tide in a spherical shell. Results. We have the following results. (1) Energy scaling exponent about buoyancy force (or tidal force) decreases with increasing tidal force (or buoyancy force). (2) The combined tide-convection flow is not identical to superposition of two pure flows in respect of energy spectrum. (3) Tide controls large-scale of fluid motion but convection is important for small scale, and the mode-mode…

Capture of Interstellar Planetesimals in Protoplanetary Discs in Binary Star Systems ↗

Planet formation requires growth over 12 orders of magnitude in size, from micron-sized dust grains to fully formed planets. The formation of km sized planetesimals is the most challenging stage, where radial drift and fragmentation rapidly remove meter- sized solids from the protoplanetary disc. Overcoming this barrier requires favourable conditions for streaming instability to concentrate solids. These problems are exacerbated in binary star systems, where gravitational perturbations and disc truncation reduce the efficiency of planetesimal formation pathways. Planetesimal capture provides a…

Modeling the Interplay of Time, Space, Users, Topics, and Sentiment: A Novel Analytical Framework for Social Media Data Analysis ↗

This study addresses the gap in existing social media discourse research, which often treats time, space, users, topics, and sentiment in isolation. It proposes an integrated analytical framework to capture the interplay among these five dimensions, using an online controversy involving Nongfu Spring as an illustrative case to demonstrate the framework’s applicability. A multi-method approach combines temporal, spatial, and user classification analysis; deep learning-based sentiment analysis via a fine-tuned Chinese-BERT-wwm-ext model; and influential keyword identification using Graph Attenti…

    Occlusion-Aware Lane Reconstruction and Lane–Vehicle Mask-Space Reasoning for Oversize-Vehicle Violation Detection ↗

Background: Oversize transport vehicles pose substantial challenges to vision-based traffic monitoring because their large bodies can obscure lane markings and wheel–ground contact regions, while elevated oblique camera views introduce strong perspective distortion. To address these difficulties, this study presents an occlusion-aware lane reconstruction and lane–vehicle mask-space reasoning framework for oversize-vehicle violation detection. The lane-perception branch, termed CLRNet-ALD, extends CLRNet through adaptive cross-layer feature fusion, large-kernel attention, deformable convolution…

Quantifying Nighttime Gravity Wave‐Driven Mesosphere‐Ionosphere Coupling Over CONUS Using NASA AWE Radiance and GNSS TEC Observations ↗

Abstract We present the first coordinated study of nighttime mesosphere‐ionosphere coupling over the continental United States (CONUS) from January through November 2024 using NASA Atmospheric Waves Experiment (AWE) airglow measurements near 87 km and GNSS Total Electron Content observations near 300 km. Coherent wave structures observed at both altitudes and high spatial correlations between their variances are used to identify strongly coupled events. Among 273 AWE swaths, ∼65% exhibit strong coupling during quiet geomagnetic conditions, compared to ∼23% during active times. The occurrence o…

Navigation Service Performance Assessment for Cislunar Transfer Spacecraft Using BDS-3 and DRO/NRHO-Augmented Constellations ↗

This study assesses the navigation-service availability and observation geometry of a layered cislunar architecture using the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System Phase III (BDS-3) as the Earth-side primary source and distant retrograde orbit (DRO) and near-rectilinear halo orbit (NRHO) nodes as lunar-side augmentation sources. The assessment distinguishes geometrically visible links, beam-accessible links, receiver-detectable signals, and usable navigation observations. Four configurations—BDS-3, BDS-3+DRO, BDS-3+NRHO, and BDS-3+DRO+NRHO—are compared along a representative transfer trajectory a…

Mapping Fuel Categories in Mediterranean Regions with Sentinel-2 and PlanetScope Satellite Acquisitions ↗

Accurate and spatially explicit mapping of forest fuel types is essential for developing integrated wildfire risk management strategies, estimating fire danger, and modeling fire propagation in fire-prone Mediterranean ecosystems. While time series of Copernicus Sentinel-2 multispectral imagery at 10 m spatial resolution have proven effective for regional fuel mapping, severe spectral and spatial ambiguities persist in distinguishing complex canopy structures, heterogeneous shrublands, and pastures. This study explores the synergistic integration of Sentinel-2 time series and high-resolution P…

How to assess evidence about Space

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
