Earlier sources: Space
Space research and engineering study the universe and build the systems used to reach and observe it. Follow astronomy, spacecraft, launch systems, satellites, exploration, and Earth observation.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗547 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

NASA Sets Coverage for SpaceX 35th Station Resupply Launch, Arrival ↗
A SpaceX Dragon cargo spacecraft departs from the International Space Station on June 16 after undocking from the Harmony module’s forward port. Dragon, packed with completed science experiments and cargo for retrieval and analysis on Earth, parachuted to a splashdown off the coast of southern California the following day. Credit: NASA NASA and SpaceX are targeting 6:33 a.m. EDT, Tuesday, Oct. 13, for the next launch to deliver science investigations, supplies, and equipment, including the final set of International Space Station Roll-Out Solar Arrays, to the space station. This is the 35th Sp…

NASA’s SpaceX 35th Commercial Resupply Mission Overview ↗
NASA’s SpaceX 35th commercial resupply mission will launch on the company’s Dragon spacecraft on the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket to deliver research and supplies to the International Space Station. NASA NASA and SpaceX are targeting no earlier than Tuesday, Oct. 13 to launch scientific investigations, supplies, and equipment to the International Space Station. Loaded with more than 6,300 pounds of supplies, the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft will lift off aboard the company’s Falcon 9 rocket from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. Following its arrival to the orbita…

Systematic non-compliance of satellite megaconstellations with IAU brightness limits ↗
Satellite megaconstellations in low Earth orbit interfere with ground-based optical astronomy, but the scale of that interference has been hard to measure. Here we report an uncued photometric survey from a mid-northern latitude site in late 2024 which recorded some 25,000 tracks of 5,118 individual satellites to a limiting visual magnitude of +9.0. The observed population is systematically brighter than the altitude-adjusted limit of order seventh magnitude recommended by the International Astronomical Union Centre for the Protection of the Dark and Quiet Sky from Satellite Constellation Inte…

EK Cha b: multi-tracer detection of a protoplanet candidate in a gas-rich environment ↗
Despite sustained community efforts and advances in instrumentation and high-contrast imaging, the search for protoplanets remains difficult, with only two widely accepted systems to date in Class II systems (PDS 70 and WISPIT 2). Here we present the detection of EK Cha b, a new protoplanet candidate, identified through CO emission, millimeter continuum and 0.82 micron broadband photometry, linked to EK Cha, a young late-type M star. The detection of a new protoplanet candidate offers an additional opportunity to advance our understanding of planet formation. By exploiting the wealth of archiv…

Constraints on Primordial Oscillatory Features from the Power Spectrum and Bispectrum of Redshift-Space Galaxy Clustering in DESI DR1 ↗
We constrain oscillatory features in the primordial power spectrum using the public DESI DR1 galaxy and quasar clustering data. Our analysis is based on a custom pipeline for the redshift-space power spectrum and bispectrum of the six main DESI DR1 tracers, modeled with the Lagrangian effective field theory, which provides a principled resummation of the non-linear damping of the features. We consider oscillations that are linear and logarithmic in wavenumber, and, for the first time, consistently include the galaxy bispectrum in the search. We also study the dependence of the results on the ba…

BOLT: Imaging Lightning and Terrestrial Gamma-ray Flashes at the Pierre Auger Observatory ↗
Lightning-related phenomena are known to interact with and influence all detector systems of the Pierre Auger Observatory. Notably, the Surface Detector has recorded unique signals associated with Terrestrial Gamma-ray Flashes (TGFs), which are rare phenomena linked to the initial processes of lightning. Studying TGFs in coincidence with their parent lightning discharges helps to constrain the mechanisms responsible for their production, providing key insights into how these high-energy emissions are generated and evolve within thunderstorms. To image the parent lightning discharges, we are de…

How to assess evidence about Space
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
