Earlier sources: Space
Space research and engineering study the universe and build the systems used to reach and observe it. Follow astronomy, spacecraft, launch systems, satellites, exploration, and Earth observation.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗533 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

The Radius-Luminosity Relationship for Active Galactic Nuclei with Hierarchical Bayesian Reverberation Mapping ↗
Reverberation mapping of active galactic nuclei uses the time taken for variability to travel through the system as a measure of system size, with this size being used to inform estimates of the mass of the central black hole, a technique that has graduated to an industrial-scale effort in recent decades. Such large target-count, multi-year surveys have been consistently undercut by poor light curve quality and the aliasing problems of seasonal observations. These impacts compound with statistical approaches that are not consistent between works and sometimes combine inconsistent statistical f…

Chemistry on solar system scales ↗
The initial chemical composition of planets, primitive bodies in our solar system, and exoplanets is ultimately set by their nascent protoplanetary disks. Yet observing key carbon-, oxygen-, and nitrogen-bearing molecules (as well as rarer but important sulphur- and phosphorus-bearing species) in the inner (exo)planet-forming zone ($\lesssim 10$~au) remains extremely challenging with current facilities. Therefore, to construct a complete picture of the chemistry of planet formation and understand how (exo)planetary composition is set by physical and chemical processes within the protoplanetary…

Multi-wavelength Polarization as a Probe of Planet Formation ↗
Polarization reveals details of circumstellar disks that are not readily available from total intensity observations. Via multi-wavelength polarimetric observations of disks, we can trace how planets form, how dust grains evolve at the onset of planet formation, and how magnetic fields (B-fields) influence accretion. Since polarized emission from these disks is typically at levels from 0.5% to a few percent of the total emission, very high sensitivities are needed. Current ALMA capabilities make these key measurements of protoplanetary disks challenging due to (1) long integrations with separa…

Rigorous Analysis Confirms NASA’s Artemis II Heat Shield Performance ↗
A post‑mission comparison of the Orion spacecraft heat shields from Artemis I (left) and Artemis II (right) are shown after removal from their crew modules. Both heat shields are seen rotated for inspection inside the Operations and Checkout Building at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. NASA NASA’s Artemis II mission sent four astronauts around the Moon and brought them safely back to Earth, laying a foundation for crewed flights to the Moon’s surface. Additional engineering data analysis of the Orion spacecraft’s heat shield confirmed initial data showing the heat shield performed as ex…

Time-reversible timestepping in many-body planetary systems ↗
Simulating chaotic planetary system evolution requires resolving small time-scales due to close encounters, scattering, collisions, and more. Simulations typically assign fixed timesteps to all particles, however, which is inefficient and wastes compute resources in a chaotically evolving system; moreover, it may under-resolve the simulation. Hybrid methods are a blunt tool for resolving small time-scales as they do not allow for fine-grained adaptation. Assigning individual timesteps, which vary in time, to planetary bodies usually violates desirable properties such as symplecticity and rever…

Planetary system architectures in the final stages of planet formation ↗
The processes in the last stages of planet formation determine the final assembly and composition of planets. After the protoplanetary discs dissipate, a system of planets and planetesimals -- analogues of the Asteroid and Kuiper Belts -- remains. Ongoing collisions between these bodies produce second-generation dust and gas that form a debris disc. Resolved images of such belts allow us to trace the dynamical history of these systems, including giant impacts and planet-belt interactions, during the crucial era from 10 to a few 100 Myr of terrestrial planet formation. High-resolution mm and op…

Chandra Finds Possible Origin of ‘Treble Clef’ Waves ↗
X-ray: NASA/CXC/INAF-IRA/A. Botteon et al.; Infrared: UKIDSS-GPS ; Radio: ASTRON/LOFAR; Image processing: NASA/CXC/SAO/N. Wolk A formation of radio waves looks remarkably like a treble clef in this Oct. 14, 2026, image from NASA’s Chandra X-Ray Observatory . Researchers used Chandra to find that the Treble Clef is likely caused by an outburst from a supermassive black hole, followed by a collision of two galaxy clusters. Read more about this discovery. Planet formation on solar system scales ↗
Giant planets are often regarded as primordial protoplanetary "architects". Their formation and interactions with planetesimals and other planets during and after the protoplanetary disc phase are key to setting the blueprint of the planetary systems we observe today. Catching nascent gas giants is our best opportunity to uncover these crucial steps in the planet formation process and shed light on the origins of our own solar system. Over the last decade, ALMA has revolutionised our understanding of planet formation; still, detecting signatures of Jupiter-like planets has remained out of reac…

How to assess evidence about Space
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
