Earlier sources: Space

Space research and engineering study the universe and build the systems used to reach and observe it. Follow astronomy, spacecraft, launch systems, satellites, exploration, and Earth observation.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

515 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

On the Design Space of Continuous Diffusion Language Models ↗

Continuous diffusion language models (CDLMs) promise to bring the benefits of continuous flow modelling to language, including accelerated sampling and controllable generation. The field has grown rapidly, and the capabilities of CDLMs have begun to rival those of discrete diffusion. Yet, unlike for continuous modalities such as images or videos, our grasp of the levers that matter when training CDLMs remains limited. In this work, we focus on two of these levers, namely self-conditioning and embedding geometry, and shed light on some of the mechanisms behind them, which in turn suggest cheape…

The origin of the large heavy element contents of warm Jupiters ↗

Planet interior models have revealed that warm Jupiters should harbor large heavy element masses (up to 30-40% of the planetary mass). Within the pebble drift and evaporation scenario, inward drifting pebbles can evaporate and enrich the inner disc with vapor to super-stellar values, accreteable by giant planets. As H$_2$O ice evaporates in the inner disc, while CO$_2$, CH$_4$ and CO evaporate in the outer disc, the enrichment of the disc with vapor decreases with increasing orbital distance. We use the chemcomp code to model the migration and growth of planets via pebble and gas accretion in…

Relaxation Dark Energy: Compositional Dynamics and the Future of Cosmic Acceleration ↗

If cosmic acceleration is driven by a positive cosmological constant, the universe approaches an eternally accelerating de Sitter state, whose interpretation in quantum gravity remains elusive. We develop a framework in which acceleration is instead a transient stage of dark-sector relaxation towards compositional equilibrium: matter and dark energy approach a stationary density ratio, eventually diluting like pressureless matter. Guided by linear response theory and Onsager's near-equilibrium regression hypothesis, we describe this evolution through a composition variable measuring departure…

Assessing PLATO's Discovery Potential across Different Observing Strategies ↗

The PLATO mission, planned to launch in spring 2027, will observe a fixed Southern field, LOPS2, for at least 2 years with the goal of discovering and deriving precise parameters for planets as small as Earth around FGK dwarfs and sub-giants. Afterwards, PLATO could continue to monitor the same field or move to a Northern field, LOPN1, overlapping with the Kepler field. We assess these two observing strategies in terms of sensitivity of detecting small and long period planets, and subsequently we estimate yields for both observing strategies. Within this we account for including the Kepler dat…

How long could volcanic plumes persist in the Venus atmosphere? ↗

Resolving the ambiguity surrounding current Venusian volcanism is a primary objective for upcoming missions like EnVision and VERITAS. This study uses the Venus Planetary Climate Model to simulate the dispersal and detectability of volcanic plumes containing water vapour (H2O), hydrogen chloride (HCl), carbon monoxide (CO), and carbonyl sulphide (OCS) within a three-dimensional atmospheric environment. We model localised gas enhancements at altitudes probed by nightside spectral windows (8.62, 20.91, and 35.45 km above surface). Results indicate that plumes persist longest in the deep atmosphe…

    Cosmic House of Mirrors ↗

ESA/Webb, NASA & CSA, L. Furtak, S. Fujimoto Galaxies warp and multiply as if in a house of mirrors in this image from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope released on Sept. 29, 2026. The brilliant golden galaxies seen here are part of a galaxy cluster called MACS J0454.1-0300. The orange galaxies bunched together on one side of the image, however, are not actually part of the cluster, but rather galaxies much farther away whose light has been bent and magnified by gravitational lensing. This phenomenon occurs when the enormous mass of a foreground object such as a galaxy cluster bends and magnif…

First Experimental Results of Space Object Detection Using the InteRFeX Array ↗

This paper presents the first experimental validation of InteRFeX, a non-uniform receive only (passive) array located at the Nova Systems Space Precinct in Peterborough, Australia, designed for space domain awareness applications. It operates over a frequency range of 70 to 300 MHz and is capable of functioning in a range of observational modes, including as a coherent passive bistatic radar for space surveillance, which is the focus of this work. InteRFeX exploits commercial broadcast transmissions as illuminators of opportunity, combining cross-ambiguity function processing for bistatic rang…

The Hydrological Cycle and Circulation of Tidally-Locked Planets with a Finite Moisture Inventory ↗

Tidally-locked planets express a range of climate regimes distinct from those found in our solar system. Their atmospheres are often dominated by planetary-wide overturning circulations and super- rotating jets. In this paper we explore the hydrological cycle of such planets and how it might depend on the total inventory of condensate. To this end we use a set of idealised GCM simulations to probe the response of the hydrological cycle to the surface moisture budget in their atmospheres. We find that for low moisture inventories the climate quickly develops a barren day side and a moist night…

An empirical calibration of the spectral resolution of JWST NIRSpec PRISM ↗

We present an empirical calibration of the effective spectral resolution of the JWST NIRSpec PRISM disperser based on a large sample of galaxies drawn from archival observations. Our sample spans a wide redshift range, $0.5 \lesssim z \lesssim 10$, enabling a wavelength-dependent characterization of the PRISM resolving power across the full bandpass using the [O III]$λ\lambda4959,5007$ doublets. To ensure robust measurements, we impose strict signal-to-noise requirements on both continuum and emission-line detections. Emission-line profiles are fitted with multi-Gaussian models, and the full w…

How to assess evidence about Space

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
