Earlier sources: Space
Space research and engineering study the universe and build the systems used to reach and observe it. Follow astronomy, spacecraft, launch systems, satellites, exploration, and Earth observation.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗514 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

The Neptunian Final Parsec Problem: How Inertial Waves Enable Neptunes and Gas Giants to Survive Tidal Migration ↗
Observations indicate that some hot Neptunes and Jupiters underwent high eccentricity migration (HEM). A longstanding issue facing HEM theory remains, however: in order to shrink their orbits by ${\sim}1{-}2$ orders of magnitude, planets must dissipate ${\gtrsim}10{\times}$ more orbital energy than is contained in their structural binding energy. Previous work suggests that excitation of planets' fundamental modes (''$f$-modes'') at very high eccentricities, $e{\sim}$0.99, can shrink semi-major axes by ${\sim}$an order of magnitude (${\sim}5{\rightarrow}0.5$ au) while safely bleeding tidal ene…

SAGE: Shadow-Adaptive Geometric Supervision for Earth Observation Gaussian Splatting ↗
Accurate reconstruction of digital surface models (DSMs) from multi-date high-resolution urban satellite imagery supports large-scale Earth observation and three-dimensional city modeling, with 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) emerging as an efficient solution. Existing shadow-aware methods provide shadow-related spatial evidence, whereas geometric priors are generally applied across the image or scene without using this evidence to allocate supervision. Consequently, regions where shadows overlap abrupt elevation transitions may remain geometrically under-constrained, producing spatially non-unif…

Active-Space Selection in Nonadiabatic Dynamics Simulations of Dense Manifolds of Excited States: When Local Diabatization Needs Great Care ↗
Abstract Local diabatization (LD) propagates electronic amplitudes using time overlaps of adiabatic states and is robust to wave function phase arbitrariness, root character transport, and rotations within near-degenerate manifolds. However, when truncated dynamical bases are not numerically supported by the consecutive-geometry overlaps, polar orthogonalization underlying the LD approach can enforce unitary evolution in unresolved directions, leading to unphysical population transfer. This work introduces an active space screening protocol based on singular values of time overlap matrices. Ca…

The GAPS programme at TNG LXXXII. The first atmospheric investigation of the gas giant WASP-13b at high resolution with GIARPS ↗
Low-density transiting gas giant exoplanets are key benchmarks for atmospheric studies. Despite their large-scale heights, many of them remain poorly characterised. We present the first atmospheric investigation at high-resolution of the inflated (R$_\mathrm{p}$$\sim$1.4 R$_{\mathrm{J}}$), hot Jupiter (T$\sim$1500$ \mathrm{K}$) WASP-13 b aiming at constraining its atmospheric composition and refine its orbital geometry. We analysed four transits observed with GIARPS at the TNG. Updated stellar and planetary parameters were re-derived from the most precise literature values, and a new Rossiter-…

Dust-driven vertical shear instability in an isothermal shearing box: I. Turbulence and gas dynamics without dust feedback ↗
The classical vertical shear instability (VSI) is a baroclinic instability that arises from height-dependent azimuthal velocities and is a leading candidate for driving anisotropic turbulence in discs with extended vertical modes. The classical VSI requires fast cooling times and radial temperature gradients, which are absent in an isothermal stratified (barotropic) setup. We investigate the dust-driven vertical shear instability in an isothermal, stratified shearing box, where the VSI is generated by drag forces acting on the gas due to dust rather than radial thermal stratification. We const…

How to assess evidence about Space
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
