Earlier sources: Space
Space research and engineering study the universe and build the systems used to reach and observe it. Follow astronomy, spacecraft, launch systems, satellites, exploration, and Earth observation.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗545 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

On the notion of kinetic energy in a space–time of maximal proper acceleration ↗
Abstract It is shown in this work that in spacetimes of maximal proper acceleration, there are situations where a particle decelerates and simultaneously increases its kinetic energy. To illustrate the effect, a classical one-dimensional electric cavity-like scheme is discussed. The gain in kinetic energy by deceleration suggests an equivalence between velocity and acceleration from the energetic point of view. Such an equivalence is stated in a form resembling the Born reciprocity principle but formulated in the framework of higher order jet space–time geometry. We also show the existence in…

Nuclear–Electronic Orbital Coupled Cluster Theory with the Nuclear Hartree Product Representation for Multiple Quantum Nuclei and Application to Geometric Isotope Effects ↗
Abstract Nuclear–electronic orbital (NEO) methods treat specified nuclei, typically protons, quantum mechanically on the same level as electrons within quantum chemical calculations. This approach allows the computationally efficient inclusion of nuclear quantum effects such as nuclear delocalization, anharmonic zero-point energy, and tunneling into energy calculations, geometry optimizations, and dynamics. NEO coupled cluster (NEO-CC) methods recover correlation to an extent that enables prediction of accurate ground-state properties for moderately sized systems. Herein, NEO-CCSD(T), which in…

Korean Space Collision Environment Assessment Framework Based on 3D-Cell Model ↗
Abstract Space situational awareness (SSA) requires purpose-matched models across spatial, temporal, and fidelity scales. Building on our previously reported three-dimensional (3D) cell formulation and implementation, this study establishes a reproducible, resolution-aware, catalog-conditioned framework for macroscopic assessment of the low Earth orbit (LEO) collision environment. The framework maps supplied catalog or scenario populations to time-averaged spatial density and target-specific impact metrics while retaining individual-object information. Using a 2025 Space-Track snapshot, we eva…

Learning-Based Data-Assisted Port-Hamiltonian Control for Free-Floating Space Manipulators ↗
A generic data-assisted control architecture within the port-Hamiltonian framework is proposed, introducing a physically meaningful observable that links conservative dynamics to all actuation, dissipation, and disturbance channels. A robust, model-based controller combined with a high-gain decentralized integrator establishes large robustness margins and strict time-scale separation, ensuring that subsequent learning cannot destabilize the primary dynamics. Learning, selected for its generalizability, is then applied to capture complex, unmodeled effects, despite inherent delay and transient…

Dual is different: EFTs, axions and nonpropagating form fields in cosmology ↗
A bstract Scalar fields in 4D are known to have equivalent dual descriptions in terms of form-field gauge potentials, but this is often regarded as an arcane fact. Why use more complicated formulations when simpler scalar descriptions exist and are equivalent? We describe three ways in which scalars that arise as duals can differ from their garden-variety counterparts. Two of these — the interchange of weak and strong couplings and utility in bringing topological information to the low-energy theory — are relatively well-known, but to these we add a third: dualities that map derivative interac…

Detection of escaping magnesium in the upper atmosphere of WASP-76b ↗
Near-ultraviolet (NUV) observations can uniquely probe low-density, high-altitude gas in ultra-hot Jupiters (UHJs) via strong resonance lines of metals. WASP-76b is a well-studied UHJ with prior detections of refractory metals and complex day-night chemistry, making it a prime target for atmospheric escape diagnostics in the NUV. We present HST/STIS E230M (2274 - 3119 $\mathring{\mathrm{A}}$) transmission spectroscopy of WASP-76b. While broad- (~ 200 $\mathring{\mathrm{A}}$) and narrow-band (4 $\mathring{\mathrm{A}}$) transmission spectra do not show spectral features, a velocity-resolved sing…

Polarimetric Behaviour of (3200) Phaethon: New Observations with Implications for Surface Heterogeneity ↗
The near-Earth asteroid (3200) Phaethon exhibits unusually high linear polarisation at large phase angles. Previous observations revealed a significant difference between apparitions: measurements obtained in 2016 showed a polarisation up to $\sim10$ percentage points higher than those obtained in 2017 at comparable phase angles. The distinct surface regions and viewing geometries sampled during the two apparitions have been suggested as possible explanations for this difference. Here, we present new R-band polarimetric observations obtained with the Nordic Optical Telescope, covering phase an…

Assessment of sky brightness in central Portugal: the Dark Sky destination "Aldeias do Xisto" case study ↗
A combination of remote sensing techniques, open space data and field testing was developed to derive astronomical and meteorological parameters and assess Dark Sky brightness of the hitherto unstudied Schist Villages region in the mountainous Interior Center of Portugal. This study covered the period 2012-2017 and established the methodology for regular light pollution and sky brightness studies in the region using satellite imagery to reduce cost and time and increase accuracy of the final analysis. Long-term Artificial Light At Night (ALAN) data from VIIRS instrument aboard the Suomi-NPP sa…

NASA to Cover Northrop Grumman CRS-24 Spacecraft Departure ↗
Northrop Grumman’s Cygnus XL cargo spacecraft rests at its capture point on April 13, 2026, 12 meters from the International Space Station, as the Canadarm2 robotic arm prepares to grapple the resupply ship. Credit: NASA/Jessica Meir After delivering more than 11,000 pounds of supplies, science experiments, and other cargo to the International Space Station for NASA, Northrop Grumman’s Cygnus XL spacecraft is scheduled to depart Friday, Oct. 9, as part of the company’s Commercial Resupply Services-24 mission, or Northrop Grumman CRS-24. How to assess evidence about Space
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
