Earlier sources: Space

Space research and engineering study the universe and build the systems used to reach and observe it. Follow astronomy, spacecraft, launch systems, satellites, exploration, and Earth observation.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

543 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Boosted Odds: Lower-Point Probes of Parity Violation with Momentum Fields ↗

Parity-violating initial conditions are uniquely compelling signatures of inflationary dynamics beyond the single-field slow-roll paradigm, and their effects on the distribution of late-time observables can be easily separated from that of gravitational nonlinearities and galaxy formation physics. In this work, we propose using the momentum field, $\mathbf{p} = (1+δ)\mathbf{v}$, and, in particular, the density-density-momentum bispectrum as a novel probe of primordial parity violation. This class of bispectra greatly complements traditional searches using four-point statistics of the density f…

Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope Wide Field Instrument: Grism Saturation Response to Bright Sources during Thermal-Vacuum Testing ↗

The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope launched on August 30th, 2026 and is expected to begin its science mission in 2027. Although Roman's core science will focus primarily on faint and distant sources, as a survey telescope, it will also observe many bright sources that can saturate the detector pixels. Our goal is to study the behavior caused by bright sources dispersed through the grism and to assess how detector properties may impact scientific analysis. We analyze detector saturation behavior in Roman's Wide Field Instrument (WFI) using Thermal Vacuum Test 2 (TVAC2) bright-source grism da…

Astronomers Solve Cosmic Cold Case with NASA Hubble Data ↗

NASA, ESA, Leah Hustak (STScI) Diligent sleuthing by astronomers uncovered a surprising chemical clue that indicates the white dwarf star HS 0209+0832 may host a second-generation planet. This artist’s concept released on Oct. 5, 2026, depicts that possible explanation. The white dwarf is the “dead” core of a star that burned through all of its nuclear fuel and lost its outer envelope of gas and dust to space. The second-generation planet formed from that cast-off gas and dust, which is why its chemical content is very different from a planet that formed as its host star was forming. Learn mor…

SOPHIE and TESS characterization of fourteen TESS Objects of Interest: nine planetary systems and five low-mass stellar companions ↗

We present fourteen TESS Objects of Interest (TOIs) from the SOPHIE-TESS follow-up program. Combining TESS photometry, SOPHIE radial velocities (RVs), ground-based photometry, and high-resolution imaging, we establish the nature of all targets. Nine systems (TOI-6457, TOI-6883A, TOI-6649, TOI-6842A, TOI-5217A, TOI-6893A, TOI-7025, TOI-7176, and TOI-5893) host planets. TOI-6649 b, TOI-6842A b, and TOI-5217A b are transiting hot Jupiters with periods of 4.4-6.0 d, radii of 1.3-1.6 RJ, masses of 0.3-1.3 MJ, and densities of 0.1-0.6 g/cm3. TOI-5217A also hosts an outer companion, TOI-5217A c, with…

Stochastic effect on ultralight dark matter searches with astronomical polarized sources ↗

Ultralight axion-like particles (ALP) are the well-motivated candidates for the dark matter. In the standard halo model, the ultralight galactic dark matter behaves as a stochastic Gaussian random field, and the polarization angle of the linearly polarized light propagating through the field stochastically oscillates proportional to the field difference between the observer and the source. The statistics of this signal depend on the source size and its distance from the observer relative to the ALP Compton length and coherence length, and therefore on the ALP mass. We present a unified statist…

Universal Relations Meet Causality: Bounding the Dynamical Love Number of Neutron Stars ↗

The frequency-dependent tidal response of a neutron star is constrained by causality, reality and passivity, which turn a suitably rescaled response into a holomorphic self-map of the upper complex frequency half-plane after some suitable conditions. The Schwarz--Pick theorem then bounds the leading dynamical correction to the tidal deformability from above. In this work we confront this bound with the most recent calculations of the dynamical tidal response in the literature which have also shown that the static tidal deformability and its correction at second order in frequency are tightly c…

How to assess evidence about Space

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
