Earlier sources: Space
Space research and engineering study the universe and build the systems used to reach and observe it. Follow astronomy, spacecraft, launch systems, satellites, exploration, and Earth observation.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗519 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Hybrid worlds are the commonest outcome among the M-dwarf sub-Neptunes characterised with JWST ↗
The sub-Neptunes orbiting M dwarfs are usually assigned to one of two classes: rocky cores beneath primordial hydrogen, or volatile-rich bodies formed beyond the water-ice line. Bulk density cannot distinguish them, the two being degenerate in mass and radius once envelope evolution is modelled self-consistently (Rogers et al. 2023); the atmospheric mean molecular weight μ is the route past it. We compile the eight M-dwarf sub-Neptunes with published JWST spectra and a constrained μ, and combine it, graded by quality of evidence, with the restricted Jeans parameter and with energy-limited esca…

KiDS-DR5: Exploring dust transport in dark matter halos of galaxies ↗
We analyse a well-defined sample of galaxies from the final data release of the Kilo-Degree Survey (KiDS-DR5), selected using magnitude, photometric redshift, and stellar mass cuts, to measure their mean halo mass and circumgalactic dust content as a function of stellar mass. Our goal is to provide empirical constraints on dust transport mechanisms, such as stellar- and AGN-driven outflows, operating in galaxy halos. We develop and validate a new measurement and modelling framework using the MICE2 simulation, incorporating a realistic circumgalactic dust extinction scenario. Using this framewo…

Resolved Structure and Orbital Motion of a Localized 1 au-scale Dust Accumulation in the Protoplanetary Disk around TW Hya ↗
We present the results of high-resolution ($\sim1$~au) Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) observations of the TW~Hya protoplanetary disk in the Band 6 dust continuum, as well as the \ce{^13CO} and \ce{C^18O} J=2--1 emission lines. The primary focus of this study is to investigate the kinematics, internal morphology, and local gas environment of the prominent dust blob at a radius of 52~au. By comparing our 2021 data with archival observations from 2017, we detect the proper motion of the blob. The measured azimuthal velocity of 3.3$\pm$0.9~km~s$^{-1}$ is fully consistent with…

Planets Around Solar Twins/Analogs (PASTA) III: Chemical Clock Relations in Planet-Hosting Solar Analogs ↗
Context. Abundance ratios between elements synthesized on different nucleosynthetic timescales provide empirical chemical clocks for estimating stellar ages, but robust calibrations require homogeneous samples with precise stellar parameters and elemental abundances. Aims. We aim to investigate whether the presence of planets modifies empirical chemical clock relations. Methods. We present high-precision stellar parameters and elemental abundances for 52 new planet-hosting targets observed with Keck/HIRES, LBT/PEPSI, and Subaru/HDS. Combined with PASTA I and II, the full sample comprises 94 st…

Numerical analysis of electron density and response time delay during solar flares in mid-latitudinal lower ionosphere ↗
Impacts of solar flare vary at different parts of the lower ionosphere depending on its proximity to the direct exposure of incoming solar radiation. The quantitative analysis of this phenomenon can be attributed to the solar zenith angle (chi(t)) profile over the ionosphere. We numerically solve the electron continuity equation to obtain the lower ionospheric electron density profile (Ne(t)). The electron production rate (q(t)) is governed by the (i) X-ray profile (phi(t)) of the flare, (ii) chi(t)-values during the flare occurrence, etc. For analyzing the X-ray profile during flares, we use…

A JWST Study of Stardust. II. Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Comet 81P/Wild 2 and Implications for Primitive Solar System Carbon ↗
We report observations of comet 81P/Wild 2, target of the Stardust sample return mission, on UT 2023 March 20 and 24 at a heliocentric distance ($r_H$) of 1.85 au using the NIRSpec and MIRI integral field unit spectrographs on board the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). This study is the first compositional comparison between JWST remote-sensing spectroscopy of a solar system object against terrestrial analysis of its returned samples. Recent work determined contributions of molecular emission from coma volatiles and thermal emission from the nucleus and coma dust grains to these spectra. Sub…

Dynamical Impacts of Accretion Streamers on Protoplanetary Disks ↗
Recent observations suggest that accretion streamers are common in protoplanetary disks, yet their dynamical impact on disk evolution remains poorly understood. Using three-dimensional hydrodynamic simulations with mass infall rates of $10^{-8}$--$10^{-6} \ M_{\odot}\ \mathrm{yr}^{-1}$, we investigate how streamer accretion influences the structure and evolution of protoplanetary disks. We find that a prograde streamer can excite disk eccentricity globally to values as high as $\sim0.4$. The resulting eccentric disk develops prominent spiral arms and crescent-shaped overdensities whose spatial…

Topology optimization of the NaK78 inlet distributor for a liquid-cooled space nuclear reactor heat exchanger ↗
Liquid-metal-cooled space nuclear reactors coupled with closed Brayton cycles are promising candidates for high-power deep-space missions. In these systems, the NaK78-to-He dual-fluid heat exchanger is critical. Yet, the concentrated liquid-metal inlet causes severe flow maldistribution, which can consume the limited pressure head (only 10–20% of that available from mechanical pumps) from electromagnetic pumps driving the NaK78 loop. Existing remedial measures rely on trial-and-error modifications to predefined geometric forms, offering no guarantee of optimality. In this work, we apply densit…

Design-Space-Based Surrogate Modelling of Embodied Carbon and Material Cost Intensities for Early-Stage Commercial Office Design ↗
Few early-stage building studies combine systematic design-space exploration with concurrent assessment of embodied carbon intensity (ECI) and installed material cost intensity (MCI). Evidence therefore remains limited on how design choices jointly affect these indicators and when carbon and cost priorities converge or conflict. This study addresses this gap across an Australian commercial-office design space comprising 892 quality-screened Carbon Designer 3D scenarios. The scenarios were restricted to rectangular plans and six predominantly concrete-based structural systems, with variations i…

How to assess evidence about Space
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
