Earlier sources: Space

Space research and engineering study the universe and build the systems used to reach and observe it. Follow astronomy, spacecraft, launch systems, satellites, exploration, and Earth observation.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

518 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Bacterial orbital infection leading to orbital exenteration: a case series ↗

Orbital exenteration (OE) secondary to infection is rare. This case series reports 3 cases and aims to elucidate the possible underlying etiopathogenesis. A retrospective data analysis was performed of patients who underwent an OE and subsequently received an orbital prosthesis from the Dutch Institute for Facial Prosthetics between 2017 and 2024. Only cases secondary to infection were included. Of the 44 cases treated, only 3 were infection related. An odontogenic infection was the underlying cause in 2 cases, a periorbital/orbital necrotizing fasciitis due to a skin infection in the third ca…

The Role of Media Education in Forming a Tolerant Information Space in Multicultural Societies ↗

This study aims to identify the key components and mechanisms for implementing media education in multicultural schools in Ukraine, informed by a comparative analysis of European strategies. Although media literacy and multicultural education have been widely examined, far less attention has been devoted to how national models translate into coherent, sustainable practices for fostering tolerance across diverse sociocultural environments. Addressing this gap, the study integrates a theoretical methodological review with a comparative analysis of six European countries—Poland, Slovakia, Hungary…

Cislunar state and uncertainty propagation via the modified generalized equinoctial orbital elements ↗

Abstract The complex cislunar dynamical environment poses challenges for spacecraft navigation and Space Domain Awareness (SDA) operations, where the knowledge of current and future spacecraft states is essential. Conventional Gaussian-based approaches for SDA degrade under the nonlinearities that manifest in this regime. To accurately model the underlying dynamics and characterize uncertainty, this work explores the Modified Generalized Equinoctial Orbital Elements under high-fidelity propagation for cislunar applications. The Henze–Zirkler test for multivariate normality is leveraged to eval…

Investigating potential causes for high inferred intrinsic temperatures of warm transiting Neptune and Sub-Neptune planets ↗

Atmospheric characterization of a warm 10-30 Myr old sub-Neptune progenitor (V1298 Tau b) and a $\sim$3.4 Gyr old warm super-Neptune (WASP-107b) using JWST have revealed extremely low methane abundance. Atmospheric forward models find higher than expected inferred intrinsic temperatures (450~K and 500~K) --- inconsistent with theoretical planet formation and core-envelope evolution predictions (70K and 150K respectively) assuming a convective interior. We explore three hypotheses to reconcile the high intrinsic temperatures with evolutionary models --- tidal heating, silicate rainout and heat…

The First Hubble Detection of a Secondary Eclipse from a Rocky Exoplanet: the 5.4-hour planet TOI-2431 b ↗

We present an HST/WFC3 G141 phase-curve observation of the ultra-short-period rocky planet TOI-2431 b and detect its secondary eclipse in the near infrared. Combined with the TESS optical eclipse, these measurements constrain the planet's dayside brightness temperature, reflected light contribution, albedo, and heat redistribution. We detect the eclipse in the optical and near infrared wavelengths of TESS and HST/WFC3 G141, with a planet-to-star flux ratio of 37+/-10 ppm and 69(+14/-13) ppm, respectively. Assuming negligible reflected light, the joint TESS+HST fit yields a brightness temperatu…

NASA Tests Dual Mode Propulsion CubeSat Ahead of Launch ↗

Spacecraft propulsion traditionally relies on volatile fuels and separate, bulky systems for different types of maneuvering in space. NASA is working to change that paradigm. Engineers at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, recently completed a rigorous series of environmental and physical tests on a new small satellite designed to make spaceflight safer and more efficient. The ASCENT (Advanced Spacecraft Energetic Non-Toxic) Propulsion Dual Mode mission is a flight demonstration of a spacecraft about the size of a large shoebox. The mission will test a single, integrat…

How to assess evidence about Space

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
