Earlier sources: Space
Space research and engineering study the universe and build the systems used to reach and observe it. Follow astronomy, spacecraft, launch systems, satellites, exploration, and Earth observation.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗531 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Inhibin βB Mediates Oligotrophic Adaptation via Regulating Muscle Satellite Cell Proliferation and Differentiation in Schizopygopsis younghusbandi ↗
Adaptive reprogramming to oligotrophic environments is a key evolutionary strategy for extreme-habitat species. While enhanced fat storage and autophagy activation are well-elucidated, the molecular basis of growth retardation remains undefined. The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau shows decreasing nutrient availability with rising elevation, and its endemic Schizopygopsis younghusbandi is an ideal model for nutrient scarcity adaptation. We mimicked nutrient deficiency via in vitro low-serum and in vivo starvation assays, identifying that inhibin βB acts centrally: its upregulation activates the SMAD pat…

Topological-Projection-Consistent Keypoint Extraction for PnP-Based Space-Target Pose Measurement Under Extreme Illumination ↗
Accurate Perspective-n-Point (PnP) pose measurement for space targets benefits from consistency between the topological structure of extracted two-dimensional feature points and that of projected three-dimensional template points. Existing keypoint extraction methods mainly optimize individual point localization accuracy, while paying insufficient attention to the global topological consistency of the keypoint set under relative-position relations, structural dependencies, and rigid projection constraints. As a result, frontend keypoint errors can be further amplified by the backend PnP solver…

Beyond comoving volume: horizon flux and matter creation in modified cosmology from the unified first law of thermodynamics ↗
Abstract We explore the derivation of the Friedmann equations from a thermodynamic perspective, applying the unified first law of thermodynamics to the apparent horizon of a flat Friedmann–Lemaître–Robertson–Walker (FLRW) universe. We extend this framework to incorporate gravitationally induced particle creation, treating the region enclosed by the apparent horizon as an open thermodynamic system. A crucial aspect of our analysis is the recognition that the apparent horizon volume is not comoving; this requires consistent accounting of particle exchange across the moving boundary. We demonstra…

Hot Rocks Survey VI: An anomalously hot dayside for the rocky planet GJ 357 b ↗
As part of the JWST Hot Rocks Survey, we analyzed a JWST/MIRI F1500W secondary-eclipse observation of GJ 357 b, a rocky exoplanet orbiting a nearby M dwarf. We also performed a new global analysis of the GJ 357 system, combining TESS photometry, a JWST/NIRSpec transit observation, the MIRI secondary eclipse, radial velocities, and Gaia parallax measurements to obtain a self-consistent set of stellar and planetary parameters. We measure an occultation depth of $200.5 \pm 12.7,\mathrm{ppm}$, corresponding to a dayside brightness temperature at $15,μ\mathrm{m}$ of $T_{\mathrm{b},15,μ\mathrm{m}}=9…

Non-linear dynamo waves in magnetized shear flows: a candidate mechanism for the solar cycle ↗
Large-scale magnetic reversals in planets, stars, and accretion disks require a non-linear theory coupling the magnetic field to its sustaining flow. We derive exact non-linear solutions to incompressible magnetohydrodynamics in background rotational shear, with large-scale velocity and magnetic fields linear in position (affine form). They reveal a cyclic feedback between meridional circulation, shear, magnetic tension, induction, and the Coriolis force. The steady-circulation reversal orbit, or dynamo wave, periodically reverses all magnetic components and supports slower modulations. In the…

Tails and Trails: Comets and NEOs Survive Co-addition in Rubin Early Data Preview 2 ↗
We identify effectively single-visit imaging hidden within the deep co-added images of the NSF-DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory Early Data Preview 2 (EDP2). These shallow regions contain only one or two contributing visits, providing access to single-visit-depth imaging ahead of the full Data Preview 2 (DP2) release in late 2026. We develop a workflow to locate known small Solar System bodies in these data, using our Ponder orchestrator with the Sorcha survey simulator to predict their positions and the Rubin Science Platform (RSP) to identify shallow coadds and extract image cutouts. Because com…

The geometric origin of the thermal eccentricity law ↗
The distribution $f(e)=2e$ is commonly referred to as the `thermal eccentricity distribution' of Keplerian binaries. However, the result does not require thermal equilibrium, and its usual derivations obscure why the distribution is linear in eccentricity. We seek a simple geometrical interpretation of this result and its relation to more general eccentricity distributions. We consider bound Kepler orbits in a Euclidean space of dimension $D\geq2$, with a phase-space distribution depending only on energy, and derive the eccentricity distribution from the Liouville measure. We obtain $f_D(e)=(D…

Simulating the thermodynamics of gas, radiation, and multispecies dust: Method and applications to protoplanetary disks ↗
The thermodynamics of protoplanetary disks, governed by a complex interplay between gas, dust, and radiation, exerts a strong influence on their morphology and dynamics at both large and small scales. Historically, hydrodynamical simulations have treated thermodynamics with approximate prescriptions, such as local isothermality, parametrized $β$-cooling, and radiation hydrodynamics with gas-dust thermal equilibrium. However, a more comprehensive and self-consistent approach would more accurately reproduce the wealth of features found in observations, which in modern times have reached unpreced…

How to assess evidence about Space
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
