Earlier sources: Satellites

This space thread follows satellites through original research, public projects, and source reports. Read the evidence below to see which developments are represented in SYMTRI’s archive.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

41 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

SatNav: A Scalable Benchmark for Long-Horizon UAV Vision-Language Navigation from Satellite Imagery ↗

Urban uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) vision-language navigation (VLN) requires agents to follow instructions across extended urban spaces, inherently demanding long-term memory and geospatial grounding. However, scaling existing benchmarks remains difficult because of their reliance on costly reconstructed 3D assets, limiting geographic diversity and episode scale. To address this, we introduce SatNav, a scalable, long-horizon UAV VLN benchmark built from high-resolution satellite imagery. SatNav targets city-level navigation missions and uses satellite crops as approximations of UAV nadir view…

Unified Multi-Application Segmentation of High-Resolution Satellite Images Through Consensus-Based Probabilistic Fusion ↗

Deep-learning-based land cover segmentation models for high-resolution aerial images often suffer from inconsistent performance on unseen data due to limited spatial and temporal dataset ranges alongside inherent labeling inconsistencies. Existing solutions, such as foundation models and unsupervised domain adaptation, offer indirect improvements but require considerable post-processing or transfer learning. To address this limitation, this study introduces a direct dataset integration method that fuses heterogeneous datasets with disparate class compositions into a single operational framewor…

Inhibin βB Mediates Oligotrophic Adaptation via Regulating Muscle Satellite Cell Proliferation and Differentiation in Schizopygopsis younghusbandi ↗

Adaptive reprogramming to oligotrophic environments is a key evolutionary strategy for extreme-habitat species. While enhanced fat storage and autophagy activation are well-elucidated, the molecular basis of growth retardation remains undefined. The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau shows decreasing nutrient availability with rising elevation, and its endemic Schizopygopsis younghusbandi is an ideal model for nutrient scarcity adaptation. We mimicked nutrient deficiency via in vitro low-serum and in vivo starvation assays, identifying that inhibin βB acts centrally: its upregulation activates the SMAD pat…

Spatial segregation as the origin of anisotropic satellite quenching in haloes and beyond ↗

Satellite galaxies in massive halos are seen to be preferentially quenched along the major axes of their central galaxies. In contrast, the AGN jet tends to point along the minor axis, which imposes interesting constraints on the role of AGN feedback in satellite galaxy quenching. Here we use the SIMBA, TNG100, EAGLE, and feedback-free SIMBA cosmological simulations at $z=0$ to show that this satellite anisotropy primarily originates from spatial segregation between quenched and unquenched populations. Quenched satellites are more centrally concentrated and more strongly aligned with the centr…

MimicSat: A Reconfigurable Cyber-Physical Testbed For Small Satellite Systems and Cybersecurity Research ↗

MimicSat provides a common experimental environment for examining how changes in satellite subsystem behavior propagate to mission outcomes across software-based and hardware-based execution. Its design is motivated by controlled spacecraft cybersecurity studies involving attacks, faults, and defensive responses. In MimicSat, a mission encompasses the spacecraft and ground activities required to achieve defined objectives, and an experiment consists of one or more mission runs used to study selected conditions or interventions. To support such studies, MimicSat offers software-based and hardwa…

A ready-to-deploy MLOps software platform for satellite and NEO detection at meter-class ground-based observatories ↗

Ground-based astronomical observations frequently contain streaks produced by artificial satellites, space debris, and potentially Near-Earth Objects (NEOs). While machine-learning models can reliably detect these features, their practical adoption in observatory operations is often limited by the lack of integrated tools for visual inspection, validation, workflow management, and structured data storage. This paper presents the StreakMind Workbench, a framework that applies MLOps practices to bridge research-oriented machine-learning pipelines with routine observatory operations. Rather than…

Deterministic Enforcement of Orbit-Derived Maintenance Exclusion Windows for Vulnerability Remediation in a Simulated Satellite Ground Segment ↗

Satellite ground segments run conventional, patchable software, but disruptive maintenance must be coordinated with recurring orbital visibility. We formulate vulnerability remediation as a constrained action-and-timing problem in which SGP4-propagated visibility intervals and a pre-contact guard band define protected intervals, and a deterministic gate admits or rejects each action over a recovery-aware execution envelope containing the action, its verification, and any rollback. The enforcement property is stated as a proved conditional invariant, and the experiments test conformance to it r…

Urban building change detection with satellite imagery: a temporospatial attention Siamese SNUNet-ECAM framework ↗

Abstract Urban building change monitoring on bi-temporal Very High Resolution (VHR) satellite imagery is critical for land-use monitoring, post-disaster assessment, and urban planning. We use LEVIR-CD, a public benchmark of 637 bi-temporal 1024 $$\times$$ 1024-pixel image pairs at 0.5 m/pixel resolution, collected from Google Earth imagery of 20 regions in Texas, USA, with a 5–14-year interval between acquisitions and a $$\sim$$ 4.6% building-change pixel ratio. Rather than proposing a new architectural module, this paper presents a systematic integration of a Siamese ResNet50 encoder, the Tem…

In-Band RCS Reduction of Circularly Polarized Antenna Array with High Aperture Efficiency and Low Profile for Satellite and Navigation Systems ↗

This paper proposes a circularly polarized (CP) antenna array featuring high aperture efficiency, a low in-band radar cross section (RCS), and a low profile. First, two different patch antenna elements are designed, which exhibit desirable CP performance and a 180° reflection phase difference under x-polarized normal incidence within the same operation band. These elements are then arranged in a chessboard configuration to simultaneously achieve high aperture efficiency and in-band RCS reduction under x-polarized normal incidence. Subsequently, the parasitic units are uniformly embedded into t…

How to assess evidence about Satellites

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
