Earlier sources: Science

Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

1263 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

The Genetic Discovery (GeDi) resource: Deep characterization of a multi-ancestry panel of human reference iPSCs for functional genomic studies ↗

Human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) are essential tools for disease modelling, drug discovery, and functional genomics, yet the field remains anchored to a small number of reference lines, limiting our understanding of how genetic background shapes cellular phenotypes across human populations. Here we describe the Genetic Discovery iPSC panel (GeDi), eight clonal iPSC lines reprogrammed from male and female donors that broadly span global human population diversity. Ancestry analysis confirmed that each line's genetic profile is concordant with donor self-reported ancestry. All GeDi l

First report on chromosome number and genome size of rare endemic birch Betula klokovii Zaverucha from Ukraine ↗

This study presents the first report on chromosome number and genome size estimate for rare endemic birch species Betula klokovii Zaverucha from Ukraine. Karyological analysis of metaphases revealed a total of 56 chromosomes, confirming a tetraploid cytotype (2 n = 4 x = 56). Concurrently, flow cytometry (FCM) was utilized to conduct a precise genome estimation, yielding a nuclear DNA content of 2C = 1.93-1.99 pg for fresh material and 2.15-2.53 pg for herbarium. In addition, we identified one seedling with lower DNA content of 2C = 1.46 pg that most likely corresponds to F 1 triploid hybrid b

The nuclear Argonaute HRDE-1 broadly interacts with euchromatin via an RGG domain to enable transgenerational epigenetic silencing ↗

Small RNA(sRNA)-guided transcriptional repression, a process termed as nuclear RNAi, safeguards genome integrity and germline development. Central to this pathway are the highly conserved Argonaute (AGO) proteins, which are guided by sRNAs to mediate transcriptional silencing and heterochromatin formation at the target locus. The mechanism of how nuclear AGO proteins engage chromatin remains poorly understood. By studying C. elegans nuclear AGO HRDE-1, we found that an intrinsically disordered arginine-glycine-glycine (RGG) domain in HRDE-1 is essential for siRNA-guided transgenerational epige

Experimental trophic flexibility guides a compartmentalized genome-scale model of red microalgae Galdieria sulphuraria ↗

The thermoacidophilic red microalga Galdieria sulphuraria combines broad organic-carbon utilization with biotechnological robustness. We integrated cultivation data for strain SAG 107.79 with an organelle-resolved genome-scale metabolic model describing autotrophic, mixotrophic and heterotrophic metabolism. Heterotrophic cultures produced 2.29, 2.03 and 2.14 g L-1 biomass on glucose, xylose and their mixture, respectively, while mixed-sugar cultures consumed glucose before xylose. Biomass composition was similar under mixotrophy and heterotrophy, and stationary-phase glucose consumption suppor

Genome-wide chromatin reset at the onset of leg regeneration in pancrustaceans ↗

Regeneration requires injured tissues to selectively reactivate certain developmental programs while triggering regeneration-specific mechanisms and responding to the immediate consequences of tissue damage. How chromatin states are reorganized during this transition, and whether the underlying sequence of regulatory events is conserved across regenerating animals, remain poorly understood. We address these questions in the two-spotted cricket Gryllus bimaculatus, in which limb regeneration progressively declines during nymphal development and is absent in adults, and extend our analysis to th

Discovering state-of-the-art quantum circuits with large language models ↗

Significant efforts are currently being directed toward the implementation of large-scale quantum information processors, but realizing useful quantum advantage also requires the development of efficient quantum algorithms. While for many practical problems the dominant resource costs are associated with a small set of computational primitives, optimizing them in the quantum setting presents unique challenges, including a reversibility constraint absent from ordinary classical computation. Here we introduce an evolutionary framework in which large language models (LLMs) propose circuit designs…

Stability of Quantum LDPC States under Local Pauli Noise ↗

Quantum low-density parity-check (qLDPC) codes have a canonical mixed state---the normalized projector onto the code space---that lies at the intersection of quantum error correction and quantum many-body physics, yet the stability of its information-theoretic structure under local noise remains poorly understood. Recent progress on mixed-state phases of matter has identified the spatial decay of conditional mutual information (CMI) $I(A:C|B)$ as a key diagnostic of such stability, analogous to the role of the spectral gap for quantum ground states. We prove that, for the normalized code-proje…

Magic in quantum trajectory unravelings of noisy random quantum circuits ↗

The quantum-trajectory description of a noisy quantum circuit is not unique: every Kraus representation of the noise channel defines a different unraveling, i.e., a different ensemble of pure states that averages to the same density matrix. While all unravelings share the same expectation values of observables, they generally differ in the amount of quantum resources carried by the individual trajectories. Here we study non-stabilizerness, or magic, quantified by the stabilizer Rényi entropy, in quantum-trajectory unravelings of Haar-random and $T$-doped random Clifford brickwork circuits subj…

Magna: simulating magic state factories as cheaply as Clifford circuits ↗

Classical simulation of magic state factories, including distillation, cultivation, and code switching, is challenging because of their substantial non-Clifford content. We introduce $\texttt{magna}$ (magic-state-factory assessment via global network algebra), a classical simulator that simulates such protocols as cheaply as Clifford circuits. $\texttt{magna}$ expresses the figures of merit of a protocol, namely the acceptance rate and the fidelity of the accepted states, as tensor networks, which it reduces globally by exploiting a structural correspondence with transversal gates on quantum c…

Classical Capacity of Single-Mode Bosonic Gaussian Channels ↗

The classical capacity of a noisy optical channel is the maximum rate at which information can be transmitted reliably, given a constraint on the mean input energy. For the ubiquitous bosonic Gaussian channels, which include standard models of loss and noise in fibre and free-space optical links, determining this rate requires addressing whether entanglement between channel uses or non-Gaussian signals can outperform Gaussian encodings. More precisely, the question is whether the energy-constrained Holevo information is additive across arbitrarily many channel uses and coincides with its Gauss…

How to assess evidence about Science

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
