Earlier sources: Science

Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

1276 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Energetic channels in finite many-body quantum charging ↗

We examine how a finite many-body system can function as an effective charger for a single-qubit quantum battery, using the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick model as a paradigmatic setting. As our figure of merit, we consider the battery ergotropy while explicitly resolving the energetic flows across the composite system. In the absence of intra-charger interactions, we show that the generation of non-zero ergotropy is controlled by the competition between collective coupling and spectral mismatch. We further demonstrate that even passive positive-temperature charger states can generate finite battery erg…

    Loss-independent time-delay estimation via Hong-Ou-Mandel photon bunching detection ↗

In this work we study the application of two-photon correlated quantum states for high-precision time estimation. To achieve this, photon pairs were fed into a Hong-Ou-Mandel polarization interferometer to generate N00N entangled states with $N = 2$. Two- and four-detector schemes were considered, and the achievable time estimation precision of each was studied, with particular emphasis on the system's Fisher information in each case. Our results reveal that using a four-detector scheme, enabling the measurement of both coincidence and photon-bunching terms, achieves the maximum precision give…

Thermal activation of photon catalysis in difference-intensity Mach-Zehnder interferometry with squeezed thermal light ↗

Realistic non-Gaussian operations, which can be implemented by mixing a nonclassical Gaussian state with a Fock state at a beam splitter and then heralding on a photon-number-resolving detector, are known to improve phase estimation in a Mach-Zehnder interferometer. The existing studies have considered the single-mode squeezed vacuum for difference-intensity and parity detection, and the two-mode squeezed thermal state for parity detection alone as the initial Gaussian resources. However, a real squeezer in the lab actually produces single-mode squeezed thermal light, which has not been studie…

Quantum control of solid state qubits via Reinforcement Learning ↗

The use of reinforcement learning (RL) in the design of quantum control strategies for pulse level control of NISQ era quantum devices is attracting growing interest. Model-free RL, not requiring preexisting knowledge of the physical system, acts as a black-box optimization tool well suited for noisy devices. In this work, we provide a simulation-based analysis of the performance of model-free RL for state preparation and qubit gate design in a challenging setup: indirect control of NV nuclear spins in a spin-bath. In particular, the spin-bath is modeled via the generalized cluster correlation…

A complete classification of perfect state transfer in Grover walks on abelian Cayley graphs ↗

We completely classify connected Cayley graphs over finite abelian groups that exhibit perfect state transfer in Grover walks. First, we show that a Cayley graph over any finite group exhibiting perfect state transfer has valency $1$, $2$, or $4$. For valency $4$, we prove that an abelian Cayley graph $\operatorname{Cay}(Γ,S)$ exhibits perfect state transfer if and only if $S=\{a,-a,a+h,-a+h\}$, where $h$ has order $2$, and $4\nmid |Γ|/2$. Combining this characterization with the valency-one and valency-two cases, we explicitly determine all pairs $(Γ,S)$ for which $\operatorname{Cay}(Γ,S)$ ex…

Panoramic modelling of single-cell transcriptomes at scale with CellNet ↗

Comprehensively characterizing cellular diversity is critical for understanding tissue development, identifying disease-associated populations and investigating gene programmes linked to specialized functions. Advances in single-cell profiling reveal additional cell-specific transcripts and molecular associations, yet many foundation models represent only a restricted portion of this increasingly rich molecular information. Here we present CellNet, which enables panoramic modelling of single-cell transcriptomes by integrating DNA-derived gene identities and measured RNA expression in a shared…

Optical Coherent Combining in Multi-Aperture Free-Space Receivers through Atmospheric Turbulence via Optically Computed Alignment Gradients ↗

Multi-aperture reception converts spatial diversity into a coherent-combining gain, but only if the relative phase and polarization of the collected field replicas are aligned before they are summed. In a satellite-to-ground downlink the atmosphere perturbs amplitude, phase and polarization, so the alignment must track a fluctuating channel rather than a fixed offset. This paper proposes a new optical-domain combining scheme in which the alignment information is computed by light itself: the ascent directions that maximize the combined output power are formed by optical interference and read o…

Realization Divergence in Multi-Provider Quantum Computing: A Pre-Registered Study of What Survives Measurement ↗

Quantum programs pass through compilers, transpilers and vendor services before execution. However, the distance between what was written and what runs is rarely measured. We call this distance realization divergence: the observable difference in how an identical source circuit is realized and behaves across quantum software stacks. We report a hardware study across three vendors and four devices, combining pre-registered predictions with explicitly identified exploratory analyses and amendments. In a compilation experiment with assigned placement policies, embedding radius correlates with two…

Hurricane Laura-induced loads on wind turbines -- Part I: High-fidelity modeling and sensitivity to turbulent inflow conditions ↗

Tropical cyclones can produce extreme winds in the lowest portion of the boundary layer, posing high risks to critical energy infrastructure, including wind energy systems. This study evaluates the dynamic response of an idling wind turbine to turbulent inflow generated during the passage of a hurricane. We performed large-eddy simulations of Hurricane Laura (2020) at several grid resolutions -- coarse $(Δx=55.55\,{\rm m})$, intermediate $(Δx=25\,{\rm m})$, and fine $(Δx=10\,{\rm m})$ -- to investigate differences in mean flow characteristics and turbulence structures as the hurricane progress…

How to assess evidence about Science

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
