THE INTERNET IS THINKING

Earlier sources: Science

Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

1279 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Physics-Informed Vector LSTM for Multi-Horizon Hub-Height Wind Speed Forecasting Across Multiple Sites ↗

Accurate hub-height wind-speed forecasting is a prerequisite for the safe and economical integration of wind power into the electricity grid, because forecasting errors propagate directly into imbalance penalties, reserve sizing, and turbine wear, and short-term predictions (one to twenty-four hours ahead) are of direct operational value. The literature on wind-speed and, more broadly, multivariate time-series forecasting has advanced through three overlapping waves, namely classical statistical and physical models, shallow machine-learning regression, and deep sequence models, which share a c…

Age-related changes in the levels of active DNA demethylation pathway products in urine and in DNA isolated from leukocytes ↗

Abstract Background DNA methylation changes are recognized as a key hallmark of biological aging. We analyzed the products of active DNA demethylation pathways in DNA isolated from leukocytes and the urine of healthy volunteers aged between 1.5 and 71 years. Results A statistically significant inverse correlation between age and the analyzed modifications in urine was found for 5-hydroxymethyluracil, 5-hydroxymethylcytosine, 5-(hydroxymethyl)-2′-deoxycytidine, 5-methyl-2′-deoxycytidine, 5-carboxycytosine and 5-formylcytosine. The highest correlation coefficient was observed for 5-hydroxymethyl…

Next-Generation Intelligent Adaptive Micro/Nanorobots for Precise Intervention of Central Nervous System Injuries: Advances, Clinical Hurdles, and Future Directions ↗

Abstract Central nervous system (CNS) injuries, including traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and stroke, are associated with high rates of disability and mortality. Challenges such as the obstruction of drug delivery by biological barriers, disrupted neuronal energy metabolism, complex microenvironments, and difficulties in neural regeneration severely impede the treatment of CNS injuries. Micro/nanorobots have emerged as a promising system for the treatment of CNS injuries, owing to their advantages such as active locomotion, controllable navigation and multifunctional integration. T…

Genome-Wide DNA methylation profiling of tissue-plasma pairs identifies Novel cfDNA biomarkers for the diagnosis of gastric cancer ↗

Screening for gastric cancer (GC) is critical for improving patient survival, yet current clinical methods suffer from invasiveness and limited sensitivity. The aim of this study is to develop a machine learning model for the non-invasive diagnosis of GC using the whole-genome methylation profile of circulating free DNA (cfDNA) in plasma. Plasma cfDNA from 61 patients with GC and 29 healthy controls. First, whole‑genome bisulfite sequencing (WGBS) was performed on 29 paired GC and adjacent normal tissues to identify differentially methylated regions (DMRs). These tissue DMRs were then mapped t…

Hygrothermal Aging and Strength Prediction of CFRP Single-Lap Joints: Experiments and Physics-Constrained Neural Networks ↗

Adhesively bonded carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) joints offer efficient load transfer and weight-saving potential in aerospace structures. The simple geometry of single-lap joints (SLJs) makes them useful for examining bond durability, although the effects of hygrothermal aging on their performance have not been sufficiently investigated. This research systematically integrates moisture absorption experiments, mechanical testing, finite element modeling (FEM), and deep neural network (DNN) modeling to provide a comprehensive analysis of moisture absorption behavior, strength degradatio…

An artificial intelligence framework for end-to-end rare disease phenotyping from clinical notes using large language models ↗

Phenotyping is fundamental to rare disease diagnosis, but manually curating structured phenotypes from clinical notes is labor intensive and difficult to scale. Existing artificial intelligence (AI) approaches optimize individual components of phenotyping but generally do not operationalize the full workflow of extracting features from clinical text, standardizing them to Human Phenotype Ontology (HPO) terms, and prioritizing rare disease-relevant HPO terms. We developed RARE-PHENIX, an end-to-end AI framework for rare disease phenotyping that integrates large language model-based phenotype ex…

OmniCosmos: Transferring Particle Physics Knowledge Across the Cosmos ↗

Foundation models build an effective representation of data that can be deployed on diverse downstream tasks. Previous research showed that the , a foundation model for collider physics, could significantly advance discovery potential across collider experiments. In this paper, we show that foundation models trained on collider data can transfer to cosmology. Specifically, we improve the prediction of cosmological parameters and halo and galaxy velocities in different datasets from . To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time a collider physics model has been shown to generalize acro…

Magic state cultivation on a superconducting quantum processor ↗

Fault-tolerant quantum computing requires a universal gate set, but the necessary non-Clifford gates represent a significant resource cost for most quantum error correction architectures. Magic state cultivation offers an efficient alternative to resource-intensive distillation protocols; however, testing the proposal’s assumptions represents a challenging departure from quantum memory experiments. We present an experimental study of magic state cultivation on a superconducting quantum processor. We implement cultivation, including code-switching into a surface code, and develop a fault-tolera…

Simultaneous high-fidelity single-qubit gates in a spin qubit array ↗

Abstract Silicon spin qubits offer a promising path to scalable quantum computing due to their compatibility with industrial semiconductor manufacturing. A key requirement for scaling quantum processors is the ability to perform high-fidelity operations in parallel across many qubits. However, simultaneous control remains a major challenge in silicon devices, as fidelities typically degrade under parallel operation. Here we identify microwave-drive-induced a.c.-Stark shifts as the dominant source of this degradation in a five-qubit silicon spin array. We address this by introducing a scalable…

Title: Unilateral loss of tyrosine hydroxylase in adult midbrain dopaminergic neurons reveals reduction to neuregulin1 in rat model of acute dopaminergic dysfunction ↗

Dopamine, produced primarily in the midbrain, is required for movement and reward-based signaling all throughout life. Loss of dopaminergic function can result in changes to motor systems, mood, motivation, and cognition. Dopaminergic cell death or dopaminergic hypofunction are implicated in a variety of diseases including synucleinopathies, neuropsychiatric disorders, and substance use disorders. Loss of dopaminergic neurons (DANs) in the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNpc) and subsequent dysregulation of dopamine signaling in striatum are implicated to varying degrees in all synucleinopath

How to assess evidence about Science

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
