THE INTERNET IS THINKING

Earlier sources: Science

Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

1278 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

PacBio HiFi sequence data reveal a chromosomal misassembly in the Candida parapsilosis CDC 317 reference sequence and provide a foundation for resolving diploid genome structure ↗

The diploid ascomycetous yeast Candida parapsilosis accounts for an increasing proportion of invasive Candida infections, highlighting the need for improved genome resources to support studies of pathogenesis and antifungal drug resistance. Here, a Pacific Biosciences (PacBio) HiFi read set was used to generate a collapsed haploid nuclear genome assembly and to explore phased diploid genome structure for C. parapsilosis strain CDC 317, the strain used for the current GenBank reference assembly. The assembly read set represented approximately 50× genome coverage, had a mean read length of 22.1

Neuroscience-Informed Psychoeducation for Epilepsy: A Shared Language for Integrated Care ↗

Epilepsy is among the most burdensome neurological disorders worldwide, with an impact that extends far beyond seizure frequency alone. Depression, anxiety, cognitive impairment, and internalized stigma affect a substantial proportion of individuals with epilepsy, yet these comorbidities remain systematically undertreated in routine neurological care. Conventional psychoeducation, largely centered on passive information delivery, has shown limited effectiveness in addressing the psychological and social complexities of living with epilepsy. Scoring the downstream chain of small-n label-free proteomics against known ratios: search engine, match-between-runs, imputation, differential testing and enrichment background on a public three-species benchmark ↗

Abstract Background. Benchmarks of label-free proteomics usually compare search and quantification software. The result a biologist reads, however, is also shaped by later choices: whether identifications are transferred between runs, how missing values are handled, which test and threshold are applied, whether intensities are normalised again, and which background is used for enrichment. These choices are rarely scored against a known answer in the three-versus-three designs that are common in practice. Methods. I reanalysed a public hybrid-proteome benchmark (PRIDE PXD028735) in which human,

Computational Evidence that Array-Associated Reverse Transcriptase Loci Are Retron Systems with Multiple ncRNA Genes ↗

Abstract Array-associated reverse transcriptases (ARTs) were recently discovered and described as a novel family of reverse transcriptases (RTs) associated with CRISPR-like arrays composed of repeated sequences interspersed with divergent regions. Here, we independently investigated ART-containing loci using established methods for RT classification and RNA secondary-structure analysis, together with two tools developed for this study: a scanner for candidate retron noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs; msr/msd ) and an integrated viewer for comparative analysis of ncRNA sequence and structure. The ART-asso

A novel strategy for enhancing anthocyanins content in VdMYB56-overexpressing rabbiteyes blueberry lines ↗

Abstract As a horticultural plant with high nutritional and commercial value, blueberries ( Vaccinium ashei ) suffer from inefficient genetic transformation systems, which highly constrain the development of biotechnology breeding in this fruit crop. The central method involved transferring VdMYB56 into Agrobacterium , thereby establishing the Agrobacterium -mediated genetic transformation system, which was started from an infection with Agrobacterium (OD 600 = 0.6) for a 10 min, followed by co-cultivation for three days. The main results indicated that the transformation efficiency detected i

Evolutionary Status of Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus (PRRSV) Variants in Swine Farms in Lima, Peru: A Review of Molecular and Epidemiological Evidence through 2026 ↗

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) is a major economically important disease affecting the global swine industry. Its etiological agent, porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), exhibits substantial genetic diversity driven by mutation, recombination, and selective pressures. Following taxonomic revisions by the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses, PRRSV isolates are classified into Betaarterivirus europensis and Betaarterivirus americense. In Peru, the molecular and epidemiological evolution of PRRSV in Lima’s swine farms remains insufficiently

Re-Examining the Pharmacogenetics of Clozapine—A Critical Evaluation ↗

Clozapine remains the only antipsychotic with proven superiority for treatment-resistant schizophrenia, yet its use is constrained by marked interindividual variability in both response and toxicity and by a burdensome adverse-effect profile spanning agranulocytosis, myocarditis, and metabolic syndrome. Three decades of pharmacogenetic research have sought genetic markers capable of predicting, before treatment begins, who will respond and who will suffer harm. This narrative review critically re-examines that record across three domains: pharmacokinetics (metabolism and transport), pharmacody

Therapeutic Horizons of CRISPR/Cas9 Genome Editing in Overcoming Bacterial Antimicrobial Resistance: A Comprehensive Narrative Review ↗

Bacterial antimicrobial resistance (AMR) represents a global public health crisis that threatens to render conventional antibiotic regimens obsolete. The clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats-associated protein 9 (CRISPR/Cas9) system has emerged as a revolutionary tool in molecular biology, offering unmatched sequence-specific genome-editing capabilities. By leveraging custom single-guide RNAs (sgRNAs), CRISPR/Cas9 can precisely target, cleave, or modify specific genomic and plasmid-borne resistance determinants, thereby neutralizing resistance pathways or directly inducing

Bacteriophage Research in Ecuador Through a One Health Lens: A Scoping Review of Applications, Molecular Characterization, and Translational Evidence ↗

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Ecuador extends across human health, animal production, agriculture, and the environment, yet national evidence on bacteriophages as an alternative has remained scattered across indexed articles, theses, and institutional repositories. We mapped that evidence through a One Health lens, following the PRISMA extension for scoping reviews (PRISMA-ScR). Five bibliographic databases and publisher platforms (Web of Science, ScienceDirect, Springer, Scopus, and SciELO) and 21 Ecuadorian repositories were searched for studies published between 2021 and 2026. The genome sequence of the eyed flat-backed millipede, Nanogona polydesmoides (Leach, 1814) ↗

We present a genome assembly from a specimen of Nanogona polydesmoides (eyed flat-backed millipede; Arthropoda; Diplopoda; Chordeumatida; Craspedosomatidae). The genome sequence has a total length of 406.26 megabases. Most of the assembly (95.49%) is scaffolded into 16 chromosomal pseudomolecules. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 16.55 kilobases.

How to assess evidence about Science

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
