THE INTERNET IS THINKING
Earlier sources: Science
Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗1301 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

A Review of Recombinase-Aided Amplification (RAA) in Veterinary Medicine ↗
Rapid and accurate pathogen detection is crucial to mitigating the significant economic impacts of infectious animal diseases. Recombinase-aided amplification (RAA) has emerged as a highly promising isothermal diagnostic tool, characterized by its rapid turnaround time, robust amplification efficiency, and single-copy analytical sensitivity. In veterinary diagnostics, RAA has evolved from single-pathogen proof-of-concept assays to become a promising technology for point-of-care scenarios. This review critically evaluates the integration of RAA with real-time fluorescence, CRISPR-Cas systems, l…

Proximity of pre-mRNA 3′ end processing and transcription termination is associated with enhanced gene expression ↗
Abstract Two key factors required for pre-mRNA 3′ end processing, CPSF73 and PCF11, are linked to poor cancer prognosis, yet their oncogenic roles remain unclear due to their dual function in transcription termination. Using a colorectal cancer (CRC) progression model, we show that primary tumor cells depend on high CPSF73 and PCF11 levels, whereas metastatic cells are less sensitive. This dependency is not explained by alternative polyadenylation (APA) or transcription-replication conflicts. Instead, we identify an uncoupling of 3′ cleavage and transcription termination during CRC progression…

Benchmarking the next generation of brain-penetrant AAV capsids ↗
Adeno-associated viral (AAV) vectors have revolutionized the landscape of in vivo gene therapy, emerging as a leading gene delivery platform for treating a wide array of diseases due to their robust safety profile and high transduction efficiency across diverse target tissues. However, translating this clinical success to neurological disorders has historically been impeded by the brain gateway known as the blood-brain barrier (BBB). While this physiological barrier protects the central nervous system (CNS), it effectively prevents most systemically administered therapeutics, including convent…

PDI-Spot: A Robust Representation Learning Framework for Identifying Energetic Hotspots in Protein–DNA Complexes ↗
Abstract The binding affinity of protein–DNA complexes is concentrated within a subset of interface residues, called “hotspots”, which are critical for maintaining stable interactions. Therefore, identifying these energetic anchors is essential for elaborating on how mutations disrupt transcriptional regulation and for identifying druggable regions within disease-associated interfaces. In this study, we introduce our novel prediction model, PDI-Spot, that leverages representation learning to capture the complex features of protein–DNA interfaces. Unlike traditional methods that rely on limited…

Draft genome sequence of the halophilic bacterium Chromohalobacter marismortui DSM 6770 T ↗
ABSTRACT Chromohalobacter marismortui DSM 6770 T is a moderately halophilic bacterium isolated from the Dead Sea in 1940. The C. marismortui DSM 6770 T draft genome is 3.55 Mbp, has 3,333 predicted genes, and includes a complete biosynthetic gene cluster for the production of the commercially significant osmoprotectant metabolites ectoine and 5-hydroxyectoine.

Disturbance-responsive online lithium-ion battery SOH estimation and analytical knee-point tracking with a Dual-Weibull Physics-Inspired Model ↗
Accurate online estimation of lithium-ion battery state of health (SOH) and knee points remains challenging because feature-based estimators can be sensitive to changes in input-data quality, whereas conventional empirical models may lack the flexibility. Therefore, this study proposes an online SOH and knee-point estimation framework comprising a Transformer-adaptive Kalman filter (AKF) branch, a Dual-Weibull Physics-Inspired Model (DWPIM), and a disturbance-responsive multi-feature Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) gate. The residual-based AKF is adopted to recursively smooth the Transformer outpu…

Genome-Wide Association Studies and Genomic Selection Analysis for Flowering-Related Traits in Maize Under Salt Stress ↗
Salt stress is a major abiotic stress that restricts the growth and development of maize, often leading to irreversible yield losses when it occurs at flowering. To dissect the genetic basis of flowering-related traits under salt stress, a natural panel of 395 maize inbred lines was phenotyped for days to tasseling (DTT), days to pollen shedding (DTP), days to silking (DTS), and anthesis–silking interval (ASI) under salt-stressed field conditions. All four traits exhibited moderate-to-high heritabilities, ranging from 76.55% to 93.13%, suggesting a substantial genetic basis. GWAS using MLM, Fa…

Three Vibrio isolates from the coral Pachyseris speciosa as draft genome resources ↗
ABSTRACT Vibrio coralliilyticus SCP4, Vibrio harveyi SCP5, and Vibrio sp. SCP2 were isolated from the coral Pachyseris speciosa in Singapore, adding to reports of Vibrio in tropical corals. Their draft genomes variably encode types II, III, and VI secretion systems, toxR , and vcpA , genes linked to pathogenic potential in Vibrio species.

RMND1 dysfunction causes OXPHOS deficiency and alters mitoribosomal protein homeostasis in vivo ↗
Abstract Pathogenic, bi-allelic variants in RMND1 typically manifest as an early-onset multisystemic mitochondrial disease, yet the consequences of RMND1 dysfunction in vivo remain poorly understood. To answer this question, we generated and characterized the first in vivo model of RMND1-related disease, carrying the recurrent p.(Asn238Ser) variant. Homozygous Rmnd1 N238S mice exhibit growth defect, premature mortality, and a multisystem phenotype marked by widespread tissue-dependent defects in oxidative phosphorylation assembly and activity. Quantitative proteomic analysis of Rmnd1 N238S hea…

The genome sequence of the banded centipede, Lithobius variegatus Leach, 1814 ↗
We present a genome assembly from a female specimen of Lithobius variegatus (banded centipede; Arthropoda; Chilopoda; Lithobiomorpha; Lithobiidae). The assembly contains two haplotypes with total lengths of 1,766.49 megabases and 1,768.00 megabases. Most of haplotype 1 (97.68%) is scaffolded into 23 chromosomal pseudomolecules. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 17.44 kilobases.

How to assess evidence about Science
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
