THE INTERNET IS THINKING
Earlier sources: Science
Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗1320 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Clinical and ecological significance of bacterial dormancy in human pathogens ↗
SUMMARYBacteria can enter a transient state of reduced metabolic activity to survive temporary unfavorable conditions. This phenomenon, sometimes referred to as dormancy, growth arrest, or quiescence, enables pathogen survival inside and outside of their host, with major clinical consequences for the management of infections. From spores to persister cells, these states associated with bacterial dormancy share molecular mechanisms for controlling cellular activity and for responding to related environmental signals. In this review, we provide a synthesis of the diversity of dormant states in h…

ASIC1 Emerges as an ATC-Associated Candidate from an Integrative Dual miRNA-mRNA Analysis ↗
Background/Objectives: Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC) is a highly aggressive malignancy in which coordinated loss of tumor-suppressive miRNAs may contribute to reciprocal upregulation of shared target genes. We aimed to identify common miRNA targets associated with ATC and to prioritize candidates showing reproducible expression across independent datasets. Methods: We analyzed the matched miRNA and mRNA expression data from GSE185719, focusing on hsa-miR-125b-5p and hsa-miR-181b-5p because both were consistently reduced in ATC compared with non-malignant thyroid tissue, PTC, and FTC. Cand…

Genome accessibility reveals disease risk that gene expression misses ↗
Most disease-associated genetic alterations do not affect the genes themselves, but instead change how strongly they are expressed, often by modifying genome accessibility. Gene expression and accessibility have now been analysed simultaneously in 10 million immune cells from 1,108 people, linking disease-associated changes in accessibility to gene expression. The effects of disease-associated genetic variants on gene expression and genome accessibility have been analysed together.

Complete genome sequence and methylome analysis of Dermacoccus nishinomiyaensis strain 1-2 isolated from sushi ↗
ABSTRACT Dermacoccus nishinomiyaensis is an actinomycete whose isolation from diverse environments and potential for opportunistic pathogenicity have been documented. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of D. nishinomiyaensis 1-2, isolated from sushi. We provide annotation statistics and insights, such as the antiphage systems arsenal of the strain, including its methylome.

Research Progress on the Application of Nanopore Long-Read Sequencing Combined with DNA Methylation Marking in Complex Forensic Evidence ↗
Background In the analysis of complex forensic material evidence, conventional detection methods for highly degraded, trace, or mixed samples present several limitations, such as low typing success rates and limited information dimensions. Methods This study systematically examines the technical principles and compatibility of nanopore long-read sequencing combined with DNA methylation profiling, identifies optimization strategies to enhance sensitivity for trace materials, improves accuracy in methylation site interpretation, for instance, NanoFreeLunch, without raw signals and using base qua…

A physics-constrained surrogate for subcooled flow boiling in low-GWP immersion cooling microchannels: FiLM conditioning and gradient-balanced training ↗
In liquid immersion cooling with the low-GWP refrigerant R1233zd(E), the onset of nucleate boiling (ONB) governs both the wall temperature and the thermal margin. A real-time digital twin needs a fast differentiable surrogate of the boiling closure rather than repeated evaluation of it. We present one: a physics-constrained network for a micro-finned R1233zd(E) channel, trained on correlation-generated data over 81 operating scenarios. The network conditions its coordinate backbone by feature-wise linear modulation and balances the physics and data losses from their measured gradient norms, re…

Choosing Between Anti-TROP2 ADCs in Advanced Breast Cancer Without Head-to-Head Evidence: A Practical Evidence-Informed Decision Framework Endorsed by the Polish Society of Clinical Oncology ↗
Background/Objectives: Antibody–drug conjugates (ADCs) targeting trophoblast cell-surface antigen 2 (TROP2), including sacituzumab govitecan (SG) and datopotamab deruxtecan (Dato-DXd), have expanded treatment options for patients with advanced breast cancer. Although both agents target TROP2, they differ in molecular design, clinical evidence, toxicity profiles, and monitoring requirements. Without head-to-head trials, their relative clinical positioning remains uncertain. This review aimed to critically assess the available evidence and develop a practical framework to support individualized…

Targeted genome recovery of under-sequenced microbes from the Sequence Read Archive STAT ↗
Most microbial species are represented by a single genome in public databases. The lack of genomes for these ‘singleton’ organisms limits our understanding of their pan-genome diversity and evolution. Although the Sequence Read Archive (SRA) contains millions of sequencing datasets that could be used to expand our understanding of many species, the extent to which under-represented microbial species are present at levels sufficient for genome recovery is unclear. Here, we show that the pre-computed taxonomic profiles generated by the National Center for Biotechnology Information SRA Taxonomy A…

Rare-earth-free regenerator materials for enhanced 4-K cryocooler performance ↗
Abstract Cryogenic cooling, a vital technology in magnetic resonance imaging and quantum computing, depends on scarce helium and heavy rare-earth elements. The increasing demand for this technology highlights the urgent need for alternative materials to reduce this reliance. Although frustration-based delafossite CuFe 1– x Al x O 2 has recently been discovered to enable cryogenic-temperature refrigeration without rare-earth elements, its cooling capacity near 4 K remains inferior to that of the benchmark rare-earth material HoCu 2 . To address this limitation, this paper reports the design and…

DyME: An MD-based engine exploiting HTP mutagenesis for protein engineering and recognition mimicry ↗
Protein recognition mimicry is of great interest in the field of molecular bioengineering and rational design, with mutagenesis frequently employed to analyze the effects of altering amino acids involved in molecular recognition. The conformational and energetic effects of such alterations can be investigated in detail with the help of molecular dynamics (MD) methodologies. While existing MD-based computational tools can be used to explore a particular set of mutations at a time, suitable for small-scale studies, high-throughput (HTP) exploration of protein recognition for engineering purposes…

How to assess evidence about Science
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
