Earlier sources: Science

Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

1409 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Parental Narrative Coherence Following Rapid Genomic Testing in Childhood: Implications for Identifying Ongoing Support Needs ↗

Abstract Rapid genome sequencing in critically ill infants and children enables early genetic diagnosis, with potential for improving long-term family outcomes. However, the impact of these diagnoses on parent-child relationships and family dynamics are poorly understood. To investigate parental perceptions and affective meaning-making after a genomic result, this study applied Five-Minute Speech Samples (FMSS), a narrative method in which parents are invited to speak freely about their thoughts and feelings regarding their child and their relationship. These narratives were collected on avera

NovoSorb™ biodegradable temporizing matrix for post-excision wound reconstruction in a paediatric giant congenital melanocytic naevus: a case report. ↗

Giant congenital melanocytic naevi (GCMN) presenting over large surface areas pose significant reconstructive challenges following surgical excision. We report the case of a paediatric female with a symptomatic GCMN covering ~2% of total body surface area on the right thigh, causing recurrent ulceration and psychological distress. Following failed conservative management, excision under general anaesthetic was performed, with reconstruction of the thigh defect using NovoSorb™ Biodegradable Temporizing Matrix (BTM). Despite a series of sequential infectious and contamination episodes during int

Synthesis, in vitro and in silico studies of novel N-benzoyl EF24 analogs as potential anticancer agents. ↗

EF24, a synthetic curcumin derivative, is effective against different forms of cancers but its derivatives are underdeveloped, particularly to improve cytotoxicity and drug-receptor interactions in colorectal cancer. Nine N-benzoyl EF24 analogs were prepared and identified by Fourier transform infrared (FT IR), proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR), and mass spectra. Cytotoxicity against the HT-29 cancer cell was screened by 3 (4,5 dimethylthiazol 2 yl) 2,5 diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay at 24 and 48 hours. Molecular docking on glyoxalase I compared binding interactions. Compound

Retinitis Pigmentosa and erythrocytic microcytosis related to hypomorphic variants in the TRNT1 gene. ↗

The tRNA Nucleotidyl Transferase 1 (TRNT1) gene encodes an enzyme that adds a trinucleotide sequence (CCA) to the 3'-end of transfer RNA. Biallelic pathogenic TRNT1 variants are associated with a multisystem disorder featuring sideroblastic anaemia, B-cell immunodeficiency, periodic fevers and developmental delay. More recently, hypomorphic TRNT1 variants have been linked to a milder phenotype involving retinitis pigmentosa (RP) and erythrocytic microcytosis. We report a novel case of TRNT1-related RP associated with erythrocytic microcytosis. Multimodal retinal imaging and electrodiagnostic t

A NAC-MYB-cysteine regulatory module enhances drought and salt tolerance in soybean. ↗

Drought and salinity are two major factors limiting soybean productivity worldwide, and both stresses can negatively affect plant growth in similar manners by disrupting cellular redox homeostasis and metabolism. However, the regulatory networks coordinating transcriptional control and metabolic adaptation under both types of stress remain poorly understood. Here, we demonstrate that the R2R3-MYB transcription factors GmMYB60a and GmMYB60b serve as core negative regulators of drought and salt tolerance in soybean. Loss-of-function mutations in GmMYB60a/b clearly increased stress tolerance, whi

Asymmetric selection decoupling of nitrogen use efficiency in maize. ↗

Integrating phenotypic, genomic, and functional analyses identifies ZmLLG3 as a regulator of coordinated nitrogen acquisition and redistribution, highlighting a shift from single-trait selection toward coordinated optimization of nitrogen use efficiency.

Perceived Barriers to Help-Seeking for Eating Disorders Among Adults With Self-Reported Eating Disorder Symptoms in Sweden. ↗

Help-seeking for eating disorders (EDs) remains low despite their burden and the importance of early intervention. This multimethod study examined perceived barriers to help-seeking among adults with self-reported ED symptoms in Sweden, a context underrepresented in prior help-seeking research. The analytic sample included 2778 adults who completed an online survey assessing ED psychopathology and perceived barriers to help-seeking. Descriptive analyses identified endorsed perceived barriers, and logistic regression tested associations between symptom severity and barrier themes. Open-ended re

Simultaneous T 1 and T 2 Mapping in the Brain With QuantoRAGE: An MP2RAGE Variant Using T 2 -Prepared Inversion. ↗

To develop and validate a repeatable and reproducible approach, QuantoRAGE, for simultaneous whole-brain T1 and T2 mapping using adiabatic magnetization preparation. QuantoRAGE is a 3D FLASH-based sequence using an adiabatic T2-prepared inversion followed by two readout blocks. Sequence repetitions with different preparation durations and inversion times provide T1- and T2-weighted images. Quantitative parameters are voxel-wise estimated by matching signal evolutions to a dictionary generated from extended phase graph simulations. To accelerate the method, the protocol was optimized using Cram

Ultrasound-assisted extraction via RSM, phytochemical profiling and evaluation of TPC, TFC, α-glucosidase inhibitory & antioxidant activity of Crotalaria willdenowiana DC. Extracts. ↗

Crotalaria willdenowiana DC., an endemic and underexplored species from the wastelands and forested slopes of Tamil Nadu, was investigated for its phytochemical and biological potential using ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) optimized through Response Surface Methodology (RSM). Twenty methanolic root extracts were prepared under varying conditions of sample weight (0.15-1.841 g), extraction time (9.54-110.54 min), and temperature (26.5-68.5 °C). The optimized extract, obtained at 71.69 min, 57.27 °C, and a sample weight of 1.50 g, showed the maximum phytochemical yield, with TPC of 135.32

An early-flowering nrpd1 mutant generated by stress-induced ONSEN mobilization. ↗

Abiotic stresses like heat, salinity, and drought profoundly influence plant development and flowering. Beyond altering gene networks, environmental stresses can activate transposable elements to generate genetic and epigenetic variation. For example, the heat-responsive retrotransposon AtCOPIA78 (ONSEN) mobilizes in RNA-directed DNA methylation (RdDM)-defective backgrounds. Although ONSEN mobilization generates heritable phenotypic variation, its role in flowering remains unclear. In this study, we examined the impact of stress-activated ONSEN mobilization on flowering-time regulation using n

How to assess evidence about Science

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
