THE INTERNET IS THINKING
Earlier sources: Science
Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗1441 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

A physics-guided deep learning method for construction-induced settlement prediction during pipe-roof underpassing of an operating high-speed railway ↗
Under ultra-shallow-buried, water-rich soft ground conditions, deformation control is highly sensitive when the pipe-roof method is used to underpass an operating high-speed railway. Excavation disturbance may induce coupled settlement of the tunnel crown, ground surface, and existing track, directly threatening the operational safety of the high-speed railway. To address the limited availability of field monitoring data, the significant spatiotemporal coupling of settlement responses, and the discrepancy between numerical simulations and actual engineering conditions, a physics-guided deep le…

Life cycle carbon, energy, and water impacts of isobutanol and sustainable aviation fuel from pea starch ↗
The rapid expansion of plant-based food markets has increased the importance of pea protein production in the food industry, while generating large quantities of pea starch as a low-value co-product. Pea starch is currently used in applications such as animal feed, but these outlets may be insufficient to absorb increasing co-product volumes. Improving pea processing systems requires identifying higher-value and lower-impact applications for this starch, and converting it into isobutanol (IBA) and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) offers such an outlet while serving aviation, a sector expected t…

Ethical considerations in the conduct of rare disease neuroscience clinical trials ↗
Abstract Approximately 7,000 rare diseases collectively affect an estimated 300 million people worldwide, yet fewer than 5 percent of these conditions have an approved therapy. Drug development for rare neurological and neurodevelopmental disorders presents unique ethical challenges that distinguish it from clinical research in more prevalent conditions. The rarity and heterogeneity of these disorders necessitate trial designs that depart from conventional randomized controlled trial paradigms, raising important questions about equipoise, placebo use, informed consent, data sharing, and equita…

Effects of a chickpea protein hydrolysate on exercise-induced biomarkers of muscle damage and inflammation in federated road cyclists ↗
Background This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial examined the effects of a chickpea protein hydrolysate (CPH) on biomarkers associated with exercise-induced muscle damage and inflammation in federated male road cyclists. Methods Twenty-four participants completed a 14-day intervention receiving either 12 g/day of chickpea protein hydrolysate (EXP) or a placebo (PLA) following training sessions. The selected dose was based on previous studies demonstrating antioxidant and immunomodulatory bioactive properties of the hydrolysate. Nutritional intake and training were registered.…

Saturation mutagenesis enables RAD51D clinical variant interpretation and identifies distinct biochemical functions ↗
The tumor suppressor RAD51D is essential for homologous recombination (HR). Pathogenic variants in RAD51D are associated with breast and ovarian cancers. However, most clinical missense variants are of uncertain significance. Here, we report a multiplex assay of variant effect to test 6,888 RAD51D coding variants for loss-of-function. The resulting variant-to-function map perfectly separates known pathogenic and benign variants and is validated by orthogonal HR and biochemical assays across 70 clinical variants. Our screen shows that variants in the DNA-binding or ATPase core most severely com…

Swarm Learning And Clinical Data: Evaluating The Benefit of a New Node For The Whole Network ↗
Abstract Digital technologies in healthcare have significantly enhanced clinical decision-making with complex data analysis. However, single clinical centers often lack sufficient data volume or diversity for effective modeling. Distributed learning solutions help to overcome these limitations, and in particular, Swarm Learning (SL) offers a privacy-preserving solution by allowing a decentralized and synchronized model training across multiple centers without direct data sharing. Swarm Learning’s inherent focus on data privacy makes it well-suited for distributed healthcare analysis. However,…

mRNA-LNP vaccines targeting conserved virulence factors elicit protective immunity against lethal Legionella pneumophila infection ↗
Legionnaires’ disease (LD), caused by the intracellular pathogen Legionella pneumophila , imposes a substantial global health burden, yet no vaccine has been clinically approved. Here, we develop mRNA-LNP vaccines encoding conserved virulence factors Pal, PilE, and FlaA. In BALB/c mice, immunization expands T follicular helper and germinal center B cells, elicits high-titer IgG, and induces potent IFN-γ⁺ Th1-type responses, with no observed systemic toxicity. In a lethal challenge model (2 × 10 8 CFU in susceptible A/J mice), monovalent FlaA-LNP confers superior protection with 100% survival a…

Physics-guided explainable predictive maintenance framework for industrial IoT systems ↗
Machine learning models are increasingly deployed in industrial systems for predictive maintenance, enabling failure detection before breakdowns occur. However, most existing approaches optimise solely for statistical performance and do not explicitly enforce consistency with established physical relationships, which can yield predictions that violate known thermomechanical trends and degrade reliability under varying operating conditions. This paper presents the Physics-Guided Explainable Predictive Maintenance (PG-XPM) framework, a six-module architecture that integrates thermomechanical dom…

Interpretable multimodal retrieval augmented diagnosis for breast ultrasound with multinational clinical validation and reader study ↗
Breast ultrasound is central to breast cancer diagnosis but suffers from substantial inter-observer variability in Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS) assessment, and existing deep learning models remain opaque. Multimodal large language models promise interpretable report-based reasoning, yet scarce paired image-report data yields weak visual-semantic alignment. We propose B-RAD, a BI-RADS-aware retrieval-augmented diagnosis framework that mirrors the radiologist workflow of retrieving exemplars, localizing lesions, and determining the BI-RADS category. Its retrieval module lea…

Rate-Limiting Enzyme Design in Propionaldehyde Oxidation-Driven Dual-Cofactor Regeneration System ↗
Abstract In vitro biomanufacturing offers an efficient platform for green synthesis; however, simultaneous in situ regeneration of NADPH and ATP remains challenging. Herein, a three-enzyme cascade driven by propionaldehyde oxidation is constructed for dual-cofactor regeneration, comprising an engineered NADP+-preferring aldehyde dehydrogenase (PduP), phosphotransacetylase (Pta), and propionate kinase (TdcD). Kinetic analysis identifies PduP as the primary thermosensitive bottleneck (half-life: 30 min at 37 °C). MD simulations and ancestral sequence reconstruction are combined to yield the R223…

How to assess evidence about Science
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
