THE INTERNET IS THINKING

Earlier sources: Science

Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

1444 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Loss of function variants in ADAMTS6: a new connective tissue disorder with heart defect, aortic aneurysm and neurodevelopmental features. ↗

Purpose Marfan syndrome, Loeys-Dietz syndrome, and heritable thoracic aortic aneurysms and dissections (hTAAD) are autosomal dominant connective-tissue disorders with overlapping features and considerable genetic variability. Many cases arise from pathogenic variants affecting extracellular matrix (ECM) components or TGFβ signaling, yet a substantial proportion of hTAAD cases remain genetically unexplained. This study aimed to identify new genetic contributors to aortic disease and to clarify their molecular and clinical impact. Methods Exome and genome sequencing of a French cohort with syndr

No clear association between time to return-to-play and first additional injury in European professional football players after ACL injury: A media-based study. ↗

Purpose The primary aim of this media-based study was to investigate whether time from anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury to return to play (RTP) was associated with the hazard of a first additional injury over calendar time among male professional football players in the five major European leagues. Secondary aims were to examine associations with a first additional injury within 365 days after RTP and with the number of official competitive matches missed because of the first additional injury. Methods Male professional football players who sustained an ACL injury, underwent ACL reconst

Cardiac Resynchronization as an Enabler of ARNI Efficacy: Insights From a Real-World Cohort. ↗

Background Sacubitril/valsartan (ARNI) improves outcomes in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). In patients undergoing cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT), the potential synergy between device-based and pharmacological strategies remains underexplored. Methods The aim of this study was to assess the effect of ARNI therapy on reverse remodeling, clinical response, and cardiovascular events at 1 year in CRT recipients, in order to clarify the potential synergistic role of pharmacological and device-based strategies. A retrospective cohort of 194 consecutive CRT patients was

Light wavelength-specific regulation of hypersensitive response dynamics in tobacco plants during non-host interaction with Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato . ↗

Light quality is a key environmental signal that integrates plant immune pathways, yet how specific wavelengths regulate the execution, timing, and efficiency of the hypersensitive response (HR) remains incompletely resolved. This study investigated how light spectral composition modulates HR dynamics and resistance outcomes during a non-host interaction. Tobacco leaves were inoculated with Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato DC3000 (PstDC3000) and incubated under red (RL), green (GL), blue (BL), white light (WL), or darkness. Monochromatic light treatments distinctly reshaped HR progression. BL a

Junctional plakoglobin regulates intestinal epithelial cell proliferation via MAPK/ERK signaling. ↗

Junctional plakoglobin (JUP) is a desmosomal protein essential for epithelial tissue integrity and epithelial-immune cell crosstalk. Although JUP has been implicated in inflammatory processes, its role in intestinal epithelial repair remains unclear. In vitro, loss of JUP in Caco-2 monolayers and non-transformed intestinal organoids markedly accelerated wound closure, driven by enhanced epithelial cell migration and proliferation. RNA sequencing-based pathway analysis of organoids revealed activation of MAPK/ERK signaling following JUP deficiency. This effect was corroborated by increased ERK

The safety and tolerability of opicapone in elderly Parkinson's disease patients: a real-world, multicenter, retrospective study. ↗

Opicapone (OPC) is an effective add-on medication for motor fluctuations in Parkinson's disease (PD), with a favorable safety and tolerability profile. Elderly PD patients are a great proportion of the real-world PD population, often underrepresented in clinical trials. This multicenter, retrospective, longitudinal study aimed to assess the real-world safety and tolerability of OPC in PD patients aged ≥ 65 years. Clinical-demographic data were collected at OPC initiation (T0) and at the last follow-up visit (T1). OPC-related adverse events (AEs) and reasons for discontinuation were recorded. P

From initial complete response to recurrence: ENPP1 mutation drives cisplatin resistance through STING/NF-κB/IL-6 axis in hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma. ↗

Background Induction chemotherapy proves critical in hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (HPSCC). However, the mechanisms of acquired resistance to induction chemotherapy have not been fully elucidated yet. Methods Nine patients with HPSCC who showed an initial response to IC followed by progression and had available paired paraffin-embedded tissue samples were retrospectively analysed. Whole exome sequencing and functional validation were performed in both in vivo and in vitro experiments using CRISPR-Cas9-mediated knockout and mutant variant transfection. Results 66.7% (6/9) of the patien

First-in-human evaluation of real-time pixel-level AI-assisted anatomical segmentation in neurosurgery: pituitary surgery as an exemplar. ↗

Introduction Precise anatomical navigation is fundamental to safe endoscopic pituitary surgery, a high-stakes procedure characterised by a challenging learning curve. While traditional navigation systems often rely on workflow-disrupting probes or static preoperative imaging, advancements in computer vision AI (CVAI) now enable dynamic, real-time pixel-level anatomical segmentation directly from live surgical video. Our group has previously conducted a series of preclinical human-computer interaction studies to refine the system's design, alongside digital and high-fidelity physical simulation
