Earlier sources: Science
Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Structure-based identification of a membrane-retained OmpA candidate against Acinetobacter baumannii by membrane molecular dynamics and phenotypic antibacterial assessment. ↗
Outer membrane protein A (OmpA) contributes to the envelope integrity and virulence of Acinetobacter baumannii and contains a lumenal cavity that may accommodate small molecules. We screened 99,878 ChEMBL-derived compounds against a structural model of the OmpA transmembrane barrel using two rounds of docking followed by short aqueous molecular-dynamics triage. Two scaffold-diverse compounds were then examined in 500-ns simulations of OmpA embedded in a POPE:POPG membrane. CHEMBL3394804 (Hit 1) remained within the lumen through persistent interactions with Lys120 and Arg160, whereas CHEMBL1075

The ABCG transporter OsPDR17 mediates transport of 5,10-diketo-casbene and enhances disease resistance in rice. ↗
Compound 5,10-diketo-casbene (DKC) is a key macrocyclic diterpenoid phytoalexin contributing to rice resistance against bacterial blight. Although its activity depends on transmembrane transport, the transporter of DKC remains unknown. Using transcriptome profiling and a yeast expression system, OsPDR17, an ABCG transporter, was identified and functionally characterized as the major DKC transporter. Its role during Xanthomonas oryzae pv oryzae infection was examined via CRISPR/Cas9 and overexpression, and a transcription factor regulating OsPDR17 was identified. OsPDR17 was localized to the ch

Computational systems immunology and multi-scale modeling for the design of a Multi-Epitope Vaccine (MEV) against emerging multidrug-resistant Klebsiella michiganensis. ↗
Klebsiella michiganensis, an emerging multidrug-resistant member of the Klebsiella oxytoca complex, has become an important opportunistic pathogen responsible for nosocomial infections, including bacteremia and ventilator-associated pneumonia. Owing to its rapidly evolving resistance to carbapenems, new preventive strategies are urgently needed. This study presents a computational systems immunology framework integrating subtractive proteomics, reverse vaccinology, and immunoinformatics to design a multi-epitope vaccine (MEV) against K. michiganensis strain ATCC 8724. From the complete proteom

Immunopharmacological design of a multi-epitope vaccine targeting hepatitis C virus genotype 3a. ↗
Hepatitis C is one of the leading causes of acute and chronic hepatitis worldwide. Immunoinformatics has emerged as a reliable and practical approach for identifying immunogenic regions. We analyzed the HCV genotype 3a polyprotein for antigenicity, allergenicity, and physicochemical characteristics. Four vaccine constructs with possible immunogenic qualities were assembled. B-cell epitopes were examined to predict antigenic determinants, and T-cell epitopes were assessed for MHC class I and II binding. All were linked together using linker peptides, a reliable adjuvant, the PADRE sequence, and

Cell-resolved testing of network-pharmacology candidates in dilated cardiomyopathy: PI3K-AKT-associated transcriptional differences are distributed across cardiac lineages and are not enriched above a genome-wide background. ↗
Network pharmacology nominates targets but cannot show that they are altered in the relevant cell, distinguishable from a hypothesis-free analysis of the same data, or linked to disease. Taking the candidates nominated for Yangxin Decoction in dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and viral myocarditis, we asked how many survive independent functional-genomic testing. Few did. A direct-evidence intersection returned 61 genes, but across four bulk cardiac datasets the set was differentially expressed no more often than the transcriptome-wide background in any human cohort, and AKT1 was significant in no

Herd immunity underlies homologous recombination in stationary phase bacteria. ↗
Homologous recombination is ubiquitous across evolution, generating variation through genetic reshuffling. Although bacteria lack meiotic recombination, homologous recombination has been known to extensively shape their genomes. However, the mechanisms and ecological conditions sustaining frequent recombination in bacteria remain unclear. Using an Escherichia coli - P1 phage model system, we reveal how frequent recombination emerges from CRISPR-based herd immunity to a generalized transducing phage (DNA vector). Herd immunity maintains phage-susceptible donor bacteria, recipient immune bacteri

Recurrent Invasion of Oregon's Coastal Forests by the Sudden Oak Death Pathogen: The NA2 Lineage's First Escape into the Wild. ↗
Phytophthora ramorum , the sudden oak death (SOD) pathogen, has invaded U.S. nurseries and western forests repeatedly. Invasions by three distinct clonal lineages (NA1, NA2, and EU1) have affected U.S. wildland forests since 2001. Most recently, NA2 established an invasive population in coastal forests surrounding Port Orford in southwest Oregon. This is the first instance of NA2 encountered outside of a nursery. We assessed this new invasion's diversity and population structure using single-nucleotide polymorphisms from whole-genome sequences of 195 isolates. Genomes were sampled from the nur

Shared Geometry Is Not Shared Physics: A Layerwise Test of the Platonic Representation Hypothesis in Astronomy ↗
In this paper we investigate whether geometrically aligned astronomical representations are also scientifically interchangeable. We analyze every layer's representation from 36 pretrained models using cross-matched optical images, infrared images, and spectra. All 139 analyzed model-survey comparisons show significant local-neighborhood alignment somewhere in the network after accounting for the search over depth. However, alignment does not generally increase with network depth and can be stronger for the changes between consecutive computational blocks than for the block outputs themselves.…

A Multivariable Approach to the Regional Calibration of the Galvez Davison Index across Mexico Climate Regimes ↗
The Gálvez Davison Index (GDI) is a thermodynamic diagnostic designed to summarize convective favorability in the tropical regions, yet its transferability across complex terrain and heterogeneous hydroclimates remains uncertain. Here we assess the climatological behavior and precipitation relevance of the GDI over Mexico using ERA5 hourly fields and CHIRPS daily precipitation for 1981 to 2024. We characterize the seasonal cycle and spatial contrasts of GDI and evaluate its association with rainfall using grid point and regional Pearson and Spearman correlations between daily maximum GDI and d…

How to assess evidence about Science
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
