Earlier sources: Science

Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

1450 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

S2S-JEPA: Predicting the Predictable at Subseasonal-to-Seasonal Timescales ↗

The subseasonal-to-seasonal (S2S) timescale, roughly from two weeks to two months ahead, is a critical forecast window for sectors such as agriculture, energy, and water management. Yet, it is widely known as the `predictability desert'. Recent AI weather models excel up to two weeks ahead but deteriorate beyond, largely because they are trained to predict fine-scale details that are neither predictable nor essential at S2S timescales. We argue that a more physically grounded objective is to forecast only the slowly varying components that remain predictable. Computer vision reached the same c…

Single-cell RNA sequencing unravels mosquito biology and host–pathogen interactions ↗

Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) is fundamentally reshaping the research paradigm of mosquito biology and host-pathogen interactions via its high-resolution transcriptomic profiling capability. This review first outlines the technical workflow and data analysis strategies of scRNA-seq, then highlights key applications of scRNA-seq in constructing mosquito cell atlases, deciphering post-blood-meal transcriptional remodeling, sexual dimorphism, and receptor coexpression patterns. Furthermore, the role of scRNA-seq in revealing the cellular tropism of mosquito-borne pathogens, host immune r…

Phosphatidic Acid Vesicles Convert the Prion Protein into β-Sheet Fibrils with a Thermostable Structure but Temperature-Sensitive Packing ↗

Biomolecular cofactors, including nucleic acids and lipids, promote conversion of the cellular prion protein (PrPC) into pathogenic assemblies (prion scrapie, PrPSc), yet the mechanistic role of specific membrane lipids in the earliest stages remains unclear. Previous work showed that phosphatidic acid (PA) vesicles interact in vitro with murine recombinant PrP (recPrP) and trigger PrP aggregation without additional cofactors. Here, we dissect the PA-driven conversion pathway by monitoring PrP assembly and aggregate stability using spectroscopy and by comparing full-length recPrP with an N-ter…

Reticulocalbin-2 (RCN2) as a Context-Dependent CREC-Family Modulator: Gene Expression and Regulation, Molecular Biology, Disease Relevance, and Translational Challenges ↗

Reticulocalbin-2 (RCN2), encoded by the human RCN2 gene (HGNC:9935) and historically identified as E6-binding protein, is a CREC-family EF-hand Ca2+-binding protein. Although first characterized as an endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-associated protein, current evidence extends RCN2 biology to splice-variant and localization complexity, protein interactions, regulatory and signaling networks, extracellular activity, cancer, non-malignant disease, and the RCN2-derived hormone Raptin. This review synthesizes the fragmented and methodologically uneven RCN2 literature within an evidence-stratified frame…

Conformation‐Selective Binding Domains of Intramolecular Chemically Induced Protein Dimerisation Systems ↗

Chemically induced protein dimerisation (CID) is a widely used approach for detecting and actuating small-molecule-protein interactions. Here, we demonstrate that CID systems can be used as building blocks for higher-order ligand-controlled protein systems. To this end, we converted classical FK506- and cyclosporine A-controlled CIDs into single-chain pseudo-allosteric proteins. These systems displayed 15- and 50-fold gains in ligand affinity compared with the parental components operating in trans. Using these fusion proteins as baits in mRNA display, we identified FN3con binding domains that…

Two children with CLTC-related neurodevelopmental disorders: A case series expanding the clinical and neuroimaging phenotypes ↗

Background The CLTC gene encodes clathrin heavy chain 1 (CHC1), a core component of the clathrin protein complex. Pathogenic variants in CLTC are associated with neurodevelopmental disorders involving multiple systems. Methods Clinical and neuroimaging data were collected from two pediatric patients with CLTC -related neurodevelopmental disorders. Whole-exome sequencing was performed, and candidate variants were validated by Sanger sequencing. Results A de novo in-frame deletion novel variant, p.(Ala1214del), was identified in Patient 1, whereas Patient 2 carried the previously reported varian…

Genome-Wide Identification and Evolution Analysis of the bHLH Gene Family in Cucurbita pepo L. ↗

The basic helix–loop–helix (bHLH) gene family is one of the largest transcription factor families in plants and plays essential roles in growth, development, and responses to environmental stresses. However, the members and functional characteristics of the bHLH gene family in Cucurbita pepo L. remain largely unclear. In this study, a total of 175 bHLH genes were identified in Cucurbita pepo L., exhibiting considerable variation in protein length and structural features. Phylogenetic analysis classified these genes into 24 subgroups (Subgroup 1–24), with conserved motif compositions within eac…

A DNA G‐Quadruplex‐Targeting Ligand Suppresses c‐MYC Expression: Implications for Gemcitabine‑Resistant Pancreatic Cancer ↗

ABSTRACT The MYC oncogene is dysregulated in nearly 70% of human cancers and plays a central role in tumor initiation and progression. However, direct targeting of c‐MYC remains challenging because of its “undruggable” nature. Stabilization of DNA G‐quadruplex (G4) structures within the c‐MYC promoter offers an alternative strategy to suppress c‐MYC transcription. Here, we report the synthesis and biological evaluation of a series of styryl quinolinium ligands, identifying PQB‐4 as a selective c‐MYC DNA G4‐binder ( K D <1.0 µM). PQB‐4 exhibited marked antiproliferative activity against pancrea…

How to assess evidence about Science

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
