Earlier sources: Science
Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗1631 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Depth-Optimal Quantum Compilation ↗
We achieve the first constant-depth circuit for arbitrary single-qubit gate synthesis. Unlike prior approaches, the construction is fully unitary and requires no pre-supplied catalyst. For any constant $δ>0$, it $\varepsilon$-approximates an arbitrary single-qubit gate using $O(\log^{1+δ}(1/\varepsilon))$ clean ancillae, Hadamard and $T$ single-qubit gates, $O(\log(1/\varepsilon))$-width generalized Toffoli gates, and sublogarithmic-width Fan-Out gates. We further eliminate Fan-Out entirely, showing that Hadamard, $T$, and generalized Toffoli gates alone suffice for constant-depth synthesis. W…

DNA geometry around highly transcribed bacterial genes ↗
Recent high-resolution (500 bp) Hi-C experiments reported contact maps with unusual patterns around highly expressed bacterial DNA loci. These patterns, described as arched stripes and bundled domains, extend over nearly 100 kbp. We performed Brownian Dynamics simulations with a specially designed coarse-grained model to rationalize these findings. The main feature of the model is that it takes explicitly into account the waves of positive (respectively, negative) supercoiling generated by the translocating polymerase downstream (respectively, upstream) of its position. Contact maps computed f…

Trotterisation Thresholds and Dissipative Quantum Chaos in Open-System Digital Quantum Simulation ↗
Digital quantum simulation (DQS) is one of the most promising applications of quantum computing. Trotterised DQS models quantum dynamics by decomposing the evolution into a sequence of gate-based Trotter steps. Using larger Trotter steps reduces the required gate count, but it is now understood that the Trotterisation step size cannot be increased beyond a certain threshold value, beyond which there is a sudden breakdown in simulation accuracy, due to the onset of quantum chaos. To date, this behaviour has only been studied for closed systems not subjected to the environmental noise and decohe…

Quantum Entanglement in Variational Quantum Classification for Breast Cancer Diagnosis ↗
This study looks at how the entangling structure of a variational quantum classifier (VQC) relates to its performance in breast cancer diagnosis, using the Wisconsin Diagnostic Breast Cancer (WDBC) dataset. We tested three three-qubit configurations that share the same EfficientSU2 ansatz, COBYLA optimizer, and stratified five-fold cross-validation, but differ in their entangling structure: a single- repetition Ising-type coupling (A), a two-repetition linear Ising-type coupling (B), and a fully connected Heisenberg-type coupling (C). Entanglement was measured with the von Neumann entropy and…

Numerical analysis of electron density and response time delay during solar flares in mid-latitudinal lower ionosphere ↗
Impacts of solar flare vary at different parts of the lower ionosphere depending on its proximity to the direct exposure of incoming solar radiation. The quantitative analysis of this phenomenon can be attributed to the solar zenith angle (chi(t)) profile over the ionosphere. We numerically solve the electron continuity equation to obtain the lower ionospheric electron density profile (Ne(t)). The electron production rate (q(t)) is governed by the (i) X-ray profile (phi(t)) of the flare, (ii) chi(t)-values during the flare occurrence, etc. For analyzing the X-ray profile during flares, we use…

Low latency global carbon budget reveals strong land sink recovery in 2025 ↗
The atmospheric CO2 growth rate fell sharply in 2025, from a record 3.76 $\pm$ 0.09 ppm yr-1 in 2024 to 2.06 $\pm$ 0.09 ppm yr-1 (NOAA marine boundary layer observations), below the 2015-2022 mean of 2.47 ppm yr-1, even as fossil CO2 emissions rose by 0.7% to 10.38 GtC yr-1. Here we present a low-latency global and regional carbon budget for 2025, combining three dynamic global vegetation models (DGVMs) and ocean model emulators with four atmospheric inversions constrained by OCO-2 satellite retrievals. The global net land sink reached 2.36 $\pm$ 0.16 GtC yr-1 in 2025 (DGVMs: 2.04 $\pm$ 0.24;…

Observer-Based Model Predictive Control for Isoflux Regulation in the EXL-50U Spherical Tokamak ↗
Isoflux control in spherical tokamaks requires coordinated plasma-current and boundary regulation under coil-voltage and computational constraints. This study develops observer-based constrained model predictive control (MPC) for EXL-50U. Vacuum-vessel spatial coarsening reduces a 538-state linearized model to 40 states while retaining control-relevant responses. A Kalman observer provides full-state estimates, and MPC jointly optimizes current and boundary-flux tracking with explicit voltage bounds. Matrix precomputation, specialized solver code generation, and structured linear-system soluti…

Native implementation of the machine-learned Skala exchange-correlation functional in CP2K: Unified one-centre reconstruction for molecular and condensed-phase calculations ↗
We implement the machine-learned Skala exchange-correlation (XC) functional natively in CP2K using its Gaussian and plane-wave (GPW) and Gaussian and augmented-plane-wave (GAPW) methods. A joint one-centre reconstruction of density, density gradients, and kinetic-energy density before functional evaluation preserves mixed gradient terms and nonlocal couplings between smooth and atom-local contributions in all-electron and pseudopotential calculations. An XC-specific GAPW representation resolves rapidly varying local contributions on atom-centred grids, reducing plane-wave requirements for pseu…

Large Language Models for Structured Clinical Data Analysis: Dual-Agent Grounding and Validation ↗
Objective: To develop and characterize CLEAR-Med, a dual-agent framework for natural-language analysis of structured clinical data that separates SQL-based invocation from independent validation. Methods: CLEAR-Med uses one agent to translate a question into executable Structured Query Language (SQL), retain the executed query and database result, and produce a draft. Deterministic checks and a separately invoked cross-provider Validation Agent then accept the draft, request one bounded repair, or abstain. We formalized the system as a bounded selective pipeline and evaluated CLEAR-Med's confi…

How to assess evidence about Science
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
