Earlier sources: Science
Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗1533 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Recoding by N1-methylpseudouridine guides rational mRNA vaccine design ↗
Abstract N 1 -methylpseudouridine (m 1 Ψ) is a key modification used in SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccines that reduces immunogenicity and increases mRNA stability. Recent studies suggested that m 1 Ψ can promote ribosomal frameshifting, a translational error generating aberrant peptides that elicit immune responses, raising concerns about unintended antigenicity. Here, we systematically examined the efficiency of frameshifting induced by m 1 Ψ and the underlying mechanism, aiming to inform future mRNA vaccine design. Using mRNA-based dual-fluorescence reporters in cells, fully in vitro reconstituted tr…

Reconstructing Soft X‐ray Photon Count Rates With Missing Segments: A Physics‐Guided Deep Learning Approach ↗
Abstract Soft X‐ray photon count rates are widely used to study interactions between the solar wind and the terrestrial magnetosphere. Soft proton flares frequently contaminate these observations, and screening the contaminated intervals leaves gaps in otherwise continuous time series. We propose a deep learning framework that imputes the missing 0.5–0.7 keV photon count rates from bidirectional temporal context together with simultaneous solar wind and geomagnetic parameters, using the 2.5–5.0 keV band as a background reference. The model employs transformer encoder blocks to leverage bidirec…

Genome wide transcriptional changes underlie gradual and recurrent adaptation to protein malnutrition in zebrafish ↗
Lysosome-rich enterocytes (LREs) are a specialized population of intestinal cells that mediate the uptake and absorption of dietary proteins in fish and neonatal mammals. Loss of LRE function causes inhibited growth and poor survival due to protein malnutrition. Previously, we reported that in zebrafish loss of Plasmolipin (pllp), an endosomal membrane protein highly expressed in LREs, impairs LRE differentiation and dietary protein absorption, resulting in marked reduction in survival rates. Raising pllp homozygous mutants surviving to adulthood and in-crossing them for multiple generations r…

Identification of TMEM263 as an ER-resident protein that controls early stages of lipid droplet biogenesis ↗
Abstract Cell and organismal growth is controlled not only by the availability of nutrients, but also the ability to dynamically sense and respond to changes in metabolic demand. We have identified a protein, TMEM263 (also known as C12orf23) as a mechanistic link between growth and lipid metabolism. TMEM263 was discovered in a screen as an ER-resident protein, and we have characterised its role as both necessary and sufficient for lipid droplet formation. TMEM263 has two transmembrane domains that fold into a dynamic alpha hairpin which are essential for its localisation to the ER and to suppo…

Locally adaptive Physics-Informed Neural Networks for nonlinear partial differential equations ↗
Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) have emerged as a powerful paradigm for solving forward and inverse problems governed by partial differential equations (PDEs). However, standard PINNs often struggle with convergence and accuracy, especially when solving non-linear PDEs. This difficulty is largely attributed to the static nature of traditional activation functions, which cannot dynamically adapt to the evolving topology of the loss landscape during training. To address these limitations, this work investigates the integration of adaptive activation functions within the PINNs framework…

meth-SemiCancer2: a cancer subtyping framework leveraging domain adaptation with contrastive learning for batch effect correction in DNA methylation profiles ↗
Cancer subtyping is essential for precision oncology, enabling early diagnosis, targeted therapy, and improved prognosis. DNA methylation is a powerful molecular marker for subtype classification, but its application is hindered by high dimensionality, batch effects, and the scarcity of subtype-labeled datasets. We previously developed meth-SemiCancer, a semi-supervised framework that leverages unlabeled methylation data to improve subtype prediction. While effective, meth-SemiCancer did not explicitly address batch effect correction or robust representation learning, limiting its generalizabi…

Cotranslational membrane protein biogenesis by an EMC-bound translocon ↗
Secretory and membrane protein biogenesis occurs at ribosome-bound translocons in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane. Translocons consist of the Sec61 protein-conducting channel and various maturation factors including chaperones, modification enzymes and membrane insertases, which assemble dynamically in response to the biogenesis needs of a nascent polypeptide. In human cells, nascent multipass membrane proteins utilize the ER membrane protein complex (EMC) and the multipass translocon (MPT), but how these factors are deployed during biogenesis is unknown. Here we combine selective ribo…

3D GelMA-Printing of Pancreatic Endocrine Constructs via Magnetic Chitosan Nanoparticle-Mediated CRISPR/dCas9a Delivery: A Proof-of-Concept Study ↗
Diabetes mellitus affects nearly half a billion people worldwide and is primarily caused by the loss of insulin-producing cells, which are essential for maintaining normal blood glucose levels. In this study, we optimized a CRISPR activation (CRISPRa) system based on deactivated Cas9 (dCas9) to transfect HEK293 cells, which were subsequently differentiated into functional α-, β-, and δ-like cells as an engineering proof-of-concept. The CRISPRa system targeted multiple genes, including NGN3, NKX6.1 + MAFA, and PDX1, successfully inducing cell differentiation as confirmed by immunostaining. Thes…

Retrospective Evaluation of the Clinical Characteristics, Laboratory Findings, and Treatment Approaches in Pediatric and Adolescent Patients Diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Single-Center Experience ↗
Background: The prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in children has been increasing in parallel with the rise in obesity. Due to its insidious onset and slow progression, complications often manifest later in adulthood. This study aims to evaluate the clinical and laboratory findings, and complication rates in pediatric patients with T2DM. Methods: We reviewed the medical records of patients diagnosed with T2DM and followed in our clinic between January 2014 and January 2023. Demographic, clinical, laboratory, and treatment data were recorded. Results: Sixty-three patients (42 female…

A Field-Calibrated Physics-Informed Digital Twin Framework for Production Blasting Using Dynamic Finite Element Modeling and Seismic Source Reconstruction ↗
Blast-induced ground vibration is traditionally predicted using empirical scaled-distance equations or numerical simulations driven by simplified analytical loading functions. Although dynamic finite element modeling has significantly advanced the understanding of stress-wave propagation, existing approaches remain unable to reproduce the complete seismic response of actual production blasting because the true blast source is generally unknown and is therefore replaced by simplified pressure–time functions. Consequently, a field-calibrated physics-informed Digital Twin framework for production…

How to assess evidence about Science
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
