THE INTERNET IS THINKING
Earlier sources: Science
Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗1587 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Autoantibodies neutralizing type I IFNs underlie ~5% of herpes simplex encephalitis in adults. ↗
Inborn errors of type I interferon (IFN-I) immunity account for ∼7-8% of herpes simplex encephalitis (HSE) cases in young children, but the pathogenesis of HSE in adults is largely unknown. We report that IFN-I autoantibodies (auto-Abs) in serum/plasma samples drawn before, during, or after HSE in 16/339 Danish adults neutralized 0.1-10 ng/ml of IFN-I. Neutralization was IgG-mediated and was also detected in cerebrospinal fluid in several patients. Patients' serum impaired the ability of exogenous IFN-I to protect fibroblasts against herpes simplex virus (HSV)-1 infection in vitro. Among patie

Diagnosis and management of mild cognitive impairment and mild Alzheimer's disease dementia: Findings from an Italian real-world survey. ↗
BackgroundThe identification and early diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and mild Alzheimer's disease (AD) dementia are critical for timely intervention, yet implementation of biomarker-based diagnostics in the Italian healthcare system remains limited.ObjectiveTo characterize the real-world diagnostic journey, barriers, and management pathways of MCI and mild AD dementia patients in Italy.MethodsData were drawn from the Adelphi Real World Dementia Disease Specific Programme™, a cross-sectional survey of Italian primary care physicians and specialists. Physicians reported on diagnos

INHBB Promotes Colorectal Cancer Progression by Inducing CD8 + T Cell Exhaustion via the ACVR2B-SMAD Signaling Axis. ↗
To investigate the expression pattern, biological functions and regulatory mechanisms of inhibin beta B (INHBB) in colorectal cancer (CRC), and to clarify its role in mediating CD8 + T cell exhaustion via the INHBB-ACVR2B-SMAD signaling axis for identifying a novel therapeutic target in CRC targeted immunotherapy, we analyzed the expression profile and prognostic value of INHBB in CRC tissues using The Cancer Genome Atlas database. Stable INHBB knockdown and overexpression CRC cell lines were constructed, and the malignant phenotypes were evaluated by Transwell assays, flow cytometry and other

A generalizable framework for genetic code expansion in bacterial systems beyond E. coli . ↗
Genetic code expansion (GCE) enables the site-specific incorporation of noncanonical amino acids into proteins, providing a powerful platform to investigate and engineer biological functions with molecular precision. While GCE has facilitated transformative studies in Escherichia coli , its utility in bacteria other than E. coli has been hindered by the lack of universal, high-efficiency methods for its implementation and optimization. To address this limitation, we introduce a modular, extensible platform for the generalizable implementation and optimization of GCE in phylogenetically diverse

Biological significance of centromeric satellite asymmetry in female meiosis. ↗
Centromeres ensure faithful chromosome segregation, yet the satellite arrays typically underlying these loci exhibit remarkable variation in sequence, organization, and size across individuals and species. Recent advances in long-read genome assemblies and experimental model systems have begun to reveal that this diversity is not simply tolerated but can directly influence centromere function during female meiosis. Asymmetry between centromeric satellite arrays of homologous chromosomes can lead to asymmetries in kinetochore proteins and spindle interactions, biased chromosome orientation on t

Complete genome sequence of Methylorubrum sp. strain 263, a light-driven methylotrophic bacterium. ↗
Methylorubrum sp. strain 263 is a pink-pigmented facultative methylotrophic bacterium showing light dependence for methylotrophic growth. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of strain 263 consisting of a chromosome (5,298,893 bp) and a circular plasmid (44,302 bp).

Isolation of bacteria that synthesize polyunsaturated fatty acids under mesophilic conditions from environments with high oxidative stress. ↗
Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) are fatty acids with more than one double bond in their acyl chain. They function as components of membranes as well as precursors of signaling molecules. Some are essential nutrients in the human diet. Given the diminishing availability of classical marine sources such as fish oil, more sustainable sources such as single-cell oils from eukaryotic microorganisms have been identified, but they are not yet economically competitive as food additives. Bacteria have been proposed as a less expensive platform to manufacture single-cell oils, but many bacterial spe

Genome sequence and assembly of endophyte Pseudomonas lini Can06R isolated from the roots of Chenopodium album L. ↗
The genome of endophyte Pseudomonas lini strain Can06R isolated from surface-sterilized roots of Chenopodium album L. was sequenced using an Illumina NextSeq 1000 platform and assembled with SPAdes. The assembly is 6,302,676 bp in length, has a GC content of 58.8%, and contains 5,730 predicted genes.

Carbon source-dependent metabolic states govern redox homeostasis and cofactor biosynthesis in Propionibacterium freudenreichii . ↗
Microbial adaptation to fluctuating nutrient and oxygen conditions requires coordinated regulation of the metabolic network to maintain redox homeostasis within physicochemical and energetic constraints. While oxygen-dependent responses in Propionibacterium freudenreichii (PFR) have been characterized at the transcriptomic level, the role of carbon source in defining system-level metabolic states remains unclear. Here, we investigated carbon source-dependent metabolic reprogramming and cofactor biosynthesis in PFR strain DSM 20271 T using label-free quantitative proteomics integrated with phys

Lactiplantibacillus plantarum Lp05 ensures immune developmental safety and protects against colitis via promoting Treg differentiation in mice. ↗
Lactiplantibacillus plantarum (formerly Lactobacillus plantarum ) Lp05, a strain isolated from pickled vegetables, is widely used as a probiotic in the food industry. However, its impact on the host immune system, especially the adaptive immune system, remains poorly understood. In this study, we systematically evaluated the influence of Lp05 on T cell immunity under both homeostatic and inflammatory conditions in mice. First, we showed that early life exposure to Lp05 does not compromise the development or maturation of the adaptive immune system, as evidenced by normal thymic T cell developm

How to assess evidence about Science
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
