Earlier sources: Science

Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

1665 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

    Oracle Distillation ↗

Learning and sensing are among the most promising applications of quantum technology, often with provable quantum advantages. In any realistic experiment, however, noise threatens to erase these advantages as the problem size grows. We introduce oracle distillation, a procedure that distills many queries to a noisy oracle into a single high-fidelity oracle. Here the oracle, an unknown unitary from a known family, models the interface through which a quantum device learns about an unknown system. We construct an explicit protocol that distills any Boolean oracle, both under adversarial noise th…

Exact Solutions of the Dunkl--Pauli Equation in the Presence of a Magnetic Field from an su(1,1) Algebraic Approach ↗

We investigate the two-dimensional Dunkl--Pauli equation for a spin--$1/2$ particle in the presence of an external magnetic field within an algebraic framework. While previous studies have provided exact solutions of the Dunkl--Pauli system, its underlying dynamical symmetry and algebraic structure remain largely unexplored. By employing Schrödinger factorization, we construct the generators of the $\mathfrak{su}(1,1)$ algebra and establish the associated symmetry of the radial sector. The energy spectrum is derived using irreducible unitary representations, and the corresponding Sturmian radi…

Sipser-Spielman meets Dijkgraaf-Witten: non-Abelian qLDPC codes via twisted sheaf gauge theory and almost-constant-overhead magic state fountain ↗

Sipser-Spielman codes and Dijkgraaf-Witten twisted gauge theories are among the most profound ideas in the last few decades in the areas of computer science and mathematical physics respectively. This work unifies them in the same framework using the language of sheaf cohomology, and produces a new framework of twisted sheaf guage theories describing a class of quantum low-density parity-check (qLDPC) codes with non-Abelian $D_4$ topological order. The corresponding twisted qLDPC code can be obtained from gauging a new type of 0-form sub-complex $\mathbb{Z}_2^3$ symmetry from a qLDPC code defi…

NEXT: Physics-Informed Neuro-Spectral Exponential Time Differencing Architectures ↗

Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) build neural representations of time-dependent PDE solutions, naturally incorporating physics knowledge and observational data, which makes them well suited to both forward and inverse PDE problems. PINNs, however, are known to suffer from spectral bias and lack of causality. Neuro-Spectral Architectures (NeuSA), a recently proposed alternative to PINNs, mitigate both issues, but their numerical integration becomes unstable for stiff differential equations arising in many relevant physical problems. This study proposes Neuro-Spectral Exponential Time Di…

Quantum-HPC Workflows Across Multiple Quantum Computing Platforms: Two Case Studies ↗

We describe the Quantum-HPC hybrid system comprising the supercomputer Fugaku, the QPUs Quantinuum Reimei and ibm_kobe, and the Tierkreis hybrid workflow software. We present two demonstrations of the system at work. In the first, we compute the excited states of a biomolecular system using Fugaku and Reimei (simulator) to handle classical and quantum parts of the workflow respectively. In the second, Fugaku coordinates Reimei and ibm_kobe working together in a combined VQE + QPE workflow to compute the ground state energy of a simple system.

Complexity Barriers to State Preparation in Quantum Approximate Optimization ↗

For many important optimization problems we are restricted to approximate solutions in practice due to computational complexity. Distinct from the exact optimization setting, approximate optimization admits performance measures beyond whether the optimum is found, with different tradeoffs and complexity. For MaxCut, a near-unity (ordinary) approximation ratio can coexist with near-zero improvement (gain) over a random cut. For the standard encoding, the unconditional classical MaxCut-Gain hardness gap implies that \emph{any uniformly efficient quantum or hybrid procedure recovering a fixed pos…

Retrainable physics-integrated neural differentiable modeling of sintering across material systems ↗

Sintering is widely used to manufacture ceramics, but coupled densification and grain growth, material-dependent kinetics, and sparse measurements complicate predictive modeling and process design. We present Sinter-PiNDiff, a retrainable physics-integrated neural differentiable framework for predicting density and grain-size evolution. Two neural networks learn densification and grain-growth coefficients within coupled rate equations, while a smooth saturation factor attenuates densification near theoretical density. The same governing structure, network architecture, and training procedure w…

Physics-induced impact on the properties of Kepler/K2 solar analogs in the light of PLATO's requirements ↗

Solar analogs are useful laboratories for tests of stellar structure and evolution, particularly in the context of the upcoming PLATO mission. Our study focuses on six seismic solar analogs observed by Kepler and K2. We investigate the impact of the model physical ingredients on these six targets in order to evaluate how well one can satisfy the PLATO precision requirements for stellar parameters with the data quality that is currently available to us. We used as reference values the stellar mass, age, and chemical composition obtained with the Forward and Inverse COmbination (FICO) procedure,…

Parallel and Distributed Fermionic Simulation via Dynamic Encoding ↗

We demonstrate a simple and efficient method to parallelize and distribute Trotterized Hamiltonian simulation of fermionic systems across multiple QPUs. Using combinatorial covering designs to define a minimal set of fermion-qubit encodings, we demonstrate communication cost scaling as $\mathcal{O}(M r)$ for a system of $M$ fermionic modes and Trotter number $r$, improving on the static encoding bound for $q$ QPUs, $\mathcal{O}(M^4 q r)$. We compare this approach to dynamic encoding using a randomised method, Pauli-weight based optimisation and hypergraph partitioning. Applying this to the Ham…

Connes Distance in Discrete-Time Quantum Walks ↗

We study the geometric spread of discrete-time quantum walks using Connes' distance formula. We introduce its discrete analogue by adapting the continuous spectral metric to the lattice, with the Dirac operator replaced by the unitary step operator. Focusing first on a (2+1)-dimensional quantum walk, we evaluate the dynamical spread of localized wavepackets to compare propagation in free space against that under a uniform magnetic field. We find that while the free walk shows linear ballistic growth, gauge-induced phases in the magnetic walk constrain the admissible test operators, suppressing…

How to assess evidence about Science

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
