Earlier sources: Science

Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

1666 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

COFI-DQI: Curve-based Optimal Function Intersection via Decoded Quantum Interferometry ↗

In 2025, Jordan et al. introduced Decoded Quantum Interferometry (DQI), a quantum algorithm for combinatorial optimization based on decoding. They considered Reed-Solomon decoding and its associated optimization problem, called Optimal Polynomial Intersection (OPI), which may be viewed as a polynomial regression problem over a finite field. DQI exhibits provable speedups on certain problem instances and establishes a connection between decoding problems and optimization tasks. Leveraging the well-understood dual structure and decoding theory of algebraic geometry codes from other curve familie…

Scaling Density Functional Theory with Gaussian Splatting ↗

Density functional theory (DFT) strikes a practical balance between accuracy and computational cost in many problems of computational chemistry and materials science. However, many DFT calculations are limited by fixed atom-centered basis sets, which dictate how accuracy and cost scale with system size. We propose Gaussian Splatting for Density Functional Theory (GS-DFT), which represents molecular orbitals as a cloud of Gaussians whose positions, shapes, and mixing coefficients are optimized jointly by gradient descent to minimize the energy without training data. Conceptually, GS-DFT is 3D G…

Spatiotemporal Non-Hermitian Skin Effect with Floquet-Engineered Ultracold Atoms ↗

Non-Hermitian skin effect, the accumulation of bulk eigenstates at edges under open boundary conditions, has been observed across classical, quantum, and synthetic platforms. Whether it can be generalized to the genuine time dimension remains open. We propose a spatiotemporal NHSE in the Floquet phase space via Floquet engineering of a ring-trapped ultracold atomic gas. Placing spatial and temporal degrees of freedom on an equal footing, we show that a single parent skin effect projects onto either domain. The spatial projection yields an NHSE with arbitrarily tunable skin locations, eliminati…

    A Three-Party W-State Quantum Secret Sharing Protocol with X-Gate Encoding and Forbidden-Outcome Detection ↗

We develop a new three-party quantum secret-sharing (QSS) protocol based on a three-qubit W state. This protocol encodes the secret-sequence bits using X gates and employs randomly selected Hadamard operations and measurement bases to generate information and security-test rounds. We evaluate the efficiency of the proposed protocol and analyze its security against an internal adversary performing intercept-and-resend and entangle-and-measure attacks, deriving the corresponding detection probabilities. The analysis of the entangle-and-measure attack shows that extracting information through an…

    Gottesman-Kitaev-Preskill error-correction with decohered resources ↗

Teleportation-based Gottesman-Kitaev-Preskill (GKP) error correction typically assumes a decoherence-free GKP ancilla Bell pair, an idealization that is difficult to reconcile with the ubiquitous environmental decoherence in bosonic systems. Here, we analyze the performance of the GKP protocol subject to pure-dephasing processes, ubiquitous in realistic situations. We show that, under this class of interactions, teleportation, instead of projecting the input onto the GKP subspace, transforms GKP error correction into a correlated Pauli-Gaussian noise process that can accumulate over successive…

Nonstabilizerness of quantum tensor network states is intractable in two dimensions ↗

Nonstabilizerness is a necessary resource for quantum systems to lie beyond the classically simulable regime. With the advent of stabilizer $α$-Rényi entropies, nonstabilizerness has also become a many-body diagnostic, complementary to entanglement. While deciding whether an arbitrary quantum state has nonstabilizerness is provably hard, such states already require a description exponentially large in the number of qubits and are thus out of reach for many-body physics. Here we instead consider 2D tensor network (TN) states, which compactly capture states obeying an entanglement area law, and…

Angular momentum conservation in two-atom superradiance ↗

Two-atom superradiance is studied for atoms having a J=0 ground state and a J=1 excited state. The atoms lie on the x-axis and are excited by a σ_{+}-polarized laser pulse propagating in the z-direction. We use two, complementary approaches to obtain the final angular momentum in the field, a source-field approach and a Schrodinger picture approach. Both approaches give identical answers, but it is necessary to include terms in both calculations that, at first glance, might not be expected to contribute. We show that, owing to an exchange between a state in which atom 1 is in its m=1 excited s…

Impact of magnetic drift configuration on the edge radial electric field in the TCV tokamak ↗

The edge radial electric ($E_r$) in the Tokamak à Configuration Variable (TCV) is compared in matched L-mode discharges with opposite ion magnetic drift directions (favorable versus unfavorable $B \! \times \! \nabla B$ configurations). As previously reported on the WEST and AUG tokamaks, the $E_r$ profile---measured by Doppler backscattering (DBS)---exhibits a "well" just inside the separatrix in the favorable drift case, which is absent or less pronounced in the unfavorable counterpart. This observation holds over a broad range of plasma conditions, notably also in Ohmic discharges with near…

Counterdiabatic quantum optimization for efficient state preparation in the Schwinger model ↗

The Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA), whose design is underpinned by the adiabatic theorem, is one of the leading variational quantum algorithms for preparing the ground states of gauge theories. A recently proposed variant, DC-QAOA, incorporates counterdiabatic driving to accelerate the adiabatic process, reducing both circuit depth and runtime. In this work, we present a systematic analysis, from both theoretical and computational perspectives, of DC-QAOA and related counterdiabatic variants for preparing the ground state of the Schwinger model, the paradigmatic (1+1)-dimens…

Shaping of the finite-size chaos crossover in Floquet circuits by coherent-mismatch architecture ↗

We study how the spatial profile of a deterministic coherent gate perturbation affects finite-size quasienergy statistics and operator dynamics in U(1)-symmetric XXZ Floquet circuits. Using a shared homogeneous reference, we compare a single modified bond with an alternating perturbation applied across the whole chain. After separating symmetry sectors and checking several known integrable forms, we find that the alternating circuits move toward circular orthogonal ensemble level statistics and change operator-space entanglement and out-of-time-order correlations at smaller local amplitudes th…

How to assess evidence about Science

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
