Earlier sources: Science
Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗1667 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Quantum algorithms for the exponentiation of Toeplitz matrices and applications in partial differential equations ↗
We present quantum algorithms to approximate the exponential of banded Toeplitz matrices. These matrices have central importance in many PDE related problems, but their quantum implementation is hindered by their possibly large norms. Constructing directly the exponential we can circumvent this limitation. By relating the lower/upper shift operators to circulant and skewcirculant generators, which are diagonalised by the QFT, we construct (i) an LCU-based block encoding of banded Toeplitz matrices, (ii) an efficient, controllably truncated Pauli-string decomposition of the circulant eigenphase…

Adaptive Dissipative State Preparation through Reinforcement Learning ↗
Dissipative algorithms approach the problem of ground state preparation by mimicking the natural thermalization of a quantum system in contact with a large, low-temperature thermal environment. The environment can be efficiently simulated by a single ancilla qubit with a variable energy gap that is repeatedly coupled to the system qubits to generate a dissipative channel, and then reset after each interaction. Here we present an adaptive implementation of the dissipative algorithm, RL-Adapt, that uses single-shot reinforcement learning to optimize the selection of ancilla frequency and system-…

Sharp Data-Processing Region for Quantum Conditional Rényi Entropies ↗
We study the three-parameter family of quantum conditional Rényi entropies $H_{α,z}^λ$ introduced in \textit{Commun. Math. Phys.} 407, 180 (2026). We prove that the previously established data-processing region is sharp. We then characterize the club-sandwiched family through a classical coarse-graining principle: within the full data-processing region, universal monotonicity under deterministic coarse-graining of the classical conditioned register holds if and only if $z = α$. Finally, we establish rigidity of entropic duality by showing that any universal duality relation for finite-dimensio…

Criticality enabled long-range order in a U(1)-symmetric spin-1 Heisenberg chain with biquadratic interactions ↗
In a recent paper Nahum argued on the basis of a renormalization-group analysis that, contrary to standard lore, ground states of 1D spin chains with short-range interactions can spontaneously break U(1) ``easy-plane'' spin rotation symmetry. True long-range order of $(S^x,S^y)$ arises at the phase transition between two quasi-long-range-ordered phases. Here we present detailed numerical results for an anisotropic spin-1 chain model. We find a magnetization exponent $β\approx0.29$, consistent with the $ε$-expansion prediction $β\approx0.28$, a divergence of the Luttinger parameter on approachi…

Highly elastic collisions of ultracold asymmetric top molecules in a static electric field ↗
We propose that the application of static electric fields to reactive CaNH$_2$ molecules can result in large ratios of elastic to lossy collisions at ultracold temperatures. In the first rotationally excited manifold, the asymmetric top structure of CaNH$_2$ results in a $\approx 226$ MHz splitting of the opposite parity $K$-doublet states. This modest splitting allows electric fields below a kilovolt per centimeter to polarize the molecules and induce long-range dipole-dipole interactions. By increasing the electric field, we find that dipole-dipole attraction can become sufficiently large to…

Causal Query Compression for Lindblad Dynamics: Optimal Queries and Nearly Linear Local Simulation ↗
We construct a causal query compiler for time-dependent Lindblad dynamics and establish query and gate bounds under distinct input models. With coherent block encodings of the Hamiltonian and individual jump operators, a Lipschitz generator can be simulated to diamond-norm error $\varepsilon$ using $O(1+τ+\log(1/\varepsilon)/\log(e+\log(1/\varepsilon)/τ))$ controlled queries, where $τ=T(α_H+\sum_μα_μ^2)$. This bound is independent of the time-grid size and is worst-case optimal for $τ\ge1$. Weak active entry and clean return yield a factorial history tail; combining two reuse lengths removes t…

Residual Fisher Information in Measurement-Error Uncertainty ↗
Measurement error in the Watanabe-Sagawa-Ueda formulation is the excess estimation error of a classical record over the quantum statistical limit. We show that, at the quantum-instrument level, this excess has an exact decomposition. The record-only error matrix equals a residual-aware error matrix plus a positive Schur-complement term fixed by Fisher information left in the unread post-measurement system. Thus measurement error separates into intrinsic instrument loss and record-restriction loss

Quantum environment afterglow from broadband excitation spectroscopy in superconducting qubits ↗
Understanding the qubit environment is central to fault-tolerant superconducting quantum computation. Characterization typically relies on relaxation, leaving excitation largely underexplored. Here, we access this information with time-resolved broadband excitation spectroscopy. The resulting qubit excitation spectrum reveals a highly structured landscape, interspersed with cold regions. Combined with postselection, this technique enables full reconstruction of the noise power spectral density (PSD) and separates quantum from classical noise. With feed-forward, it exposes long-lived two-level-…

Learning Aerosol Coagulation Dynamics in Latent Space with a Scale-Covariant Neural ODE ↗
Particle-resolved aerosol models preserve the joint size-composition structure that governs cloud activation, optical properties, and freezing, but their computational cost limits their use in large-scale atmospheric models. We extend AeroMELD from a compact representation of aerosol populations to a prognostic model of coagulation. The resulting AeroMELD-Coag advances nine learned coordinates for population shape and one for total particle number through a scale-covariant neural ordinary differential equation that incorporates the known concentration dependence of coagulation. Across 2,000 he…

How to assess evidence about Science
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
