Earlier sources: Science

Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

1682 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Graded identification of air leakage in coal-mine gas drainage boreholes using a physics-augmented transformer–LSTM framework ↗

Air leakage in gas drainage boreholes in coal mines reduces methane concentration and extraction efficiency, yet reliable grading remains difficult because weak leakage signatures can be obscured by noise and changes in operating conditions. This study proposes a physics-augmented Global–Local Transformer–LSTM (GL-TransLSTM) framework for classifying normal, slight, moderate, and severe leakage. The four grades were defined in controlled underground tests by setting the valve opening of a drainage branch exposed to ambient mine air to 0%, 10%, 50%, and 100%, respectively. Complete ensemble emp…

DNA Methylation and Metabolic Syndrome in Midlife Women of the ELEMENT Cohort ↗

Background/Objectives: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a cluster of metabolic risk factors that markedly increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. Its prevalence exceeds 50% among Mexican women. A growing number of studies suggest that DNA methylation, an epigenetic mechanism, is linked to MetS. Methylation risk scores (MRS) may be able to predict future disease risk, yet prospective studies with MRS and MetS are rare, especially in Hispanic populations. We aimed to (1) replicate previously reported locus-specific DNA methylation–MetS associations, (2) identify additional l…

Highly contiguous draft nuclear genome assembly of Teratoramularia sp. strain RD051456 isolated from plant debris in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan ↗

ABSTRACT We report a highly contiguous draft nuclear genome assembly of Teratoramularia sp. strain RD051456, isolated from plant debris in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. PacBio HiFi sequencing and hifiasm assembly produced a 26.26-Mb nuclear genome comprising 17 contigs, providing a resource for taxonomic, phylogenetic, and comparative genomic studies of Teratoramularia .

Ubiquitin Proteasome System BTB-Adaptor Protein Insomniac Modifies Seizure Severity and Response to the Ketogenic Diet in a Drosophila Model of Mitochondrial Encephalomyopathy ↗

Background/Objectives: The ubiquitin proteasome system (UPS) serves critical cellular homeostatic functions that contribute to neurological health, including neuronal metabolism, synaptic plasticity, and the molecular circadian clock. The UPS is tightly regulated to ensure the correct balance of healthy proteins and those targeted for degradation and recycling; malfunction in this quality control process can contribute to disease states such as neurodegeneration and cancer. Target specificity in this system is due in part to ubiquitin ligase adaptor proteins, such as those of the BTB superfami…

Plasma-Based Atom-Selective Etching: Advancing Atomic-Scale Smooth Surface Manufacturing for Semiconductor Materials ↗

The development of human manufacturing technologies has entered the phase of atomic and close-to-atomic scale manufacturing (ACSM). The fabrication of semiconductor materials with atomic-scale smooth and damage-free surfaces is one of the core elements of ACSM and is pivotal to the rapid advancement of high-technology fields, such as integrated circuits and quantum computing. However, the simultaneous achievement of both high quality and high efficiency has consistently posed a substantial challenge for contemporary atomic-scale polishing processes. As a chemical-etching-based method, the nove…

The complete mitochondrial genome of Liara ( Liara ) longispina (Orthoptera: Tettigonidae: Conocephalinae) ↗

ABSTRACT The complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Liara ( Liara ) longispina Zhang, Lu, & Bian (2022) was sequenced and annotated from Guangxi, China. The circular double-stranded mitogenome has a size of 16,402 bp and contains 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs), and a control region (CR/D-loop).

Quantum neural network-based modeling of radiative magneto-ternary nanofluid flow over a porous stretching surface with enhanced thermal transport analysis ↗

The research studied how nonlinear fluid mechanics affects motion and heat transfer combined phase mix on porous surfaces, with A l 2 ⁢ O 3 − C u − T i O 2 / H 2 ⁡ O nanofluids moving at various rates to simulate the presence of a stretched porous surface. It will be important to include nonlinear radiation, viscous dissipation, and suction/injection effects in this investigation. To model transport processes in the examined material systems a novel framework based on quantum intelligent models (inspired by quantum computing and machine learning using Bayesian regularization) was developed and…

In Silico Design and Evaluation of a Multi-Epitope Vaccine Candidate Against Staphylococcus haemolyticus ↗

    S. haemolyticus is an emerging multidrug-resistant pathogen that frequently causes nosocomial infections, yet no licensed vaccine is currently available for its prevention. In this study, conserved surface-associated proteins were screened to identify B-cell, cytotoxic T-lymphocyte, and helper T-lymphocyte epitopes for the design of a multi-epitope vaccine candidate. The selected epitopes were assembled into a 254-amino acid construct containing human β-defensin-3, the PADRE sequence, and selected linkers. The resulting construct was predicted to be antigenic, non-allergenic, and non-toxic, wi…

DNA Preservation in Vertebrate Samples: Insights from Forensic and Ancient Contexts ↗

Sample preservation is a critical factor in the success of genetic analyses of biological material, particularly in ancient and forensic contexts where DNA degradation and contamination are prevalent. Analytical outcomes are influenced by multiple factors, some unavoidable, whereas others, including sample collection, handling, preservation, and downstream analyses, can be optimized. This study evaluates current DNA preservation strategies for human and non-human vertebrates, focusing on both biological samples (before DNA extraction) and extracted DNA. The goal was to identify common methodol…

DNA Geometry Around Highly Transcribed Bacterial Genes ↗

Recent high-resolution (≈500 bp) Hi-C experiments reported contact maps with unusual patterns around highly expressed bacterial DNA loci. These patterns, described as “arched stripes” and “bundled domains”, extend over nearly 100 kbp. We performed Brownian Dynamics simulations with a specially designed coarse-grained model to rationalize these findings. The main feature of the model is that it takes explicitly into account the waves of positive (respectively, negative) supercoiling generated by the translocating polymerase downstream (respectively, upstream) of its position. Contact maps compu…

How to assess evidence about Science

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
