Earlier sources: Science

Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

1707 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Leucine-enriched chocolate supplementation in patients undergoing assessment for liver transplant: a randomized, double-masked, multicenter clinical trial ↗

OBJECTIVES: We conducted a randomized, double-masked, multicenter clinical trial to evaluate the incremental effect of leucine (LEU)-enriched chocolate supplementation (7.5 g of LEU/d for 12 wk) in addition to an active nutrition intervention on muscle strength in patients undergoing liver transplant (LTx) assessment. METHODS: Adult patients of both sexes with a diagnosis of cirrhosis and with a pre-LTx protocol completed or in progress at three LTx outpatient clinics were included. Clinical, nutritional, and functional data were collected at baseline (T0), after 6 wk (T6), and after 12 wk (T1…

    Programmable Carrier‐Free All‐Enzyme Beads for Modular Continuous‐Flow Biocatalysis ↗

Carrier-free enzyme materials offer maximal catalytic density but are typically limited to monolithic or amorphous architectures with restricted process compatibility. Here, we introduce programmable carrier-free all-enzyme beads as structurally defined, porous biocatalytic particles for modular continuous-flow operation. The beads are generated via droplet-based self-assembly of complementary enzyme building blocks, followed by cryogenic consolidation, yielding mechanically robust and monodisperse protein particles that retain full catalytic competence after drying and rehydration. Using mech…

Scalable ground-state certification of quantum spin systems via structured noncommutative polynomial optimization ↗

A fundamental challenge in quantum physics is determining the ground-state properties of many-body systems. Whereas standard variational approaches posit a wave-function ansatz and minimize over the possible states expressible by that ansatz, the problem can alternatively be formulated as a noncommutative polynomial optimization problem and treated through a hierarchy of semidefinite programming relaxations. In contrast to variational calculations, these relaxations provide lower bounds on ground-state energies and both lower and upper bounds on observable expectation values. However, this app…

On the power of multipartite entanglement for pseudotelepathy ↗

As early as 1935, Schrödinger recognized entanglement as “not one but rather the characteristic trait of quantum mechanics, the one that enforces its entire departure from classical lines of thought.” Indeed, most remarkable phenomena in quantum information science, such as quantum computing and quantum teleportation, spring from clever uses of entanglement. Among them, pseudotelepathy enables two or more players to win systematically at some cooperative games with no need for communication between them, a restriction that would make the task impossible in a classical world. We investigate the…

An optimized construction of lie algebra generator pools for variational quantum eigensolvers in chemistry ↗

Abstract Lie algebras are essential mathematical structures used in physics to describe sets of quantum operators. Identifying a minimal set of generators to construct these algebras is a central challenge. The traditional search for such generators relies on greedy construction steps applied to an exponentially growing number of candidate operators, making it computationally intractable. Here we show a general, polynomial-scaling strategy, based on fundamental Lie-algebraic properties, to overcome this bottleneck. We apply this framework to quantum chemistry, specifically to adaptive variatio…

Simulating and sampling from quantum circuits with 2D tensor networks ↗

Classical simulations of quantum circuits play a vital role in the development of quantum computers and for taking the temperature of the field. Here, we classically simulate various physically-motivated circuits using 2D tensor network ansätze for the many-body wavefunction which match the geometry of the underlying quantum processor. We then employ a generalized version of the boundary Matrix Product State contraction algorithm to controllably generate samples from the resultant tensor network states. Our approach allows us to systematically converge both the quality of the final state and t…

Evaluating Cross-region Generalization for Wavelet-Diffusion Precipitation Downscaling ↗

Diffusion models have shown strong potential for kilometer-scale precipitation downscaling, but their performance in geographically unseen regions and event regimes remains insufficiently understood. Building on the wavelet diffusion model (WDM) framework, this study evaluates cross-region and cross-event generalization. Six 3 x 3 deg U.S. regions represent convective, winter, tropical, and atmospheric-river precipitation regimes. Low-resolution inputs are generated by block averaging NOAA Multi-Radar/Multi-Sensor (MRMS) composite reflectivity fields. A WDM trained only on Oklahoma (OK) sample…

    Compressed Permutation Oracles Revisited ↗

The compressed permutation oracle has been used to analyze the quantum security of a number of cryptographic constructions which resisted prior techniques. However, these analyses were fundamentally limited by the poor soundness of the method: the technique was proven sound only up to $O(N^{1/12})$ queries to permutations on $N$ elements. We revisit this analysis, improving the soundness bound to a tight $Ω(N^{1/2})$. In addition to being tighter, our proof is conceptually simpler and more direct, and gives the same bound in the ideal cipher model. The main technical idea is to construct the c…

    Purely-logarithmic-time- and constant-space-overhead fault-tolerant quantum computation ↗

We prove that constant-space-overhead fault-tolerant quantum computation can be achieved with provably strictly logarithmic time overhead, improving over the best known results with additional subpolylogarithmic factors. Our main construction uses polynomial-subrank transversal logical $\CCZ$ gates on good quantum locally testable codes to implement addressable universal computation by transferring batches of logical qubits between dense storage and active logical subspaces while reusing the same ancillary workspace. Logical $\CCZ$ gates are implemented directly by the transversal operation, s…

How to assess evidence about Science

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
