Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Neoporphyra hollenbergii (E. Y. Dawson) L.-E. Yang & J. Brodie, an endemic species from the Gulf of California, Mexico ↗
Neoporphyra hollenbergii is an endemic red alga from the Gulf of California, a region with notable cryptic diversity. We report its first complete mitochondrial genome and the first Bangiales mitogenome from the region. The circular mitogenome measures 31,565 bp (30.6% GC) and contains 50 genes, including 22 protein-coding genes, two rRNA genes, 24 tRNA genes, tatC, and orf813. The cox1 and rnl genes contain introns, reflecting red algal mitogenome complexity, while gene organization is conserved across Neoporphyra. Phylogenetic analyses place N. hollenbergii sister to N. perforata, clarifying…

Draft Genome and Phenotypic Characterization of an Adherent, Biofilm-Forming Uropathogenic Escherichia coli Strain (HU5) Isolated from Urinary Tract Infection in Mexico ↗
Uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) is the main cause of urinary tract infections (UTIs), and its clinical success depends on adherence and colonization of the urothelium. Most publicly deposited UPEC genomes lack accompanying phenotypic validation of adherence or biofilm capacity, limiting genotype–phenotype linkage. Here, we report the draft genome sequence and phenotypic characterization of HU5, a clinical UPEC isolate that displayed a strong adherent phenotype, with rugose, dry colonies, strong biofilm formation (crystal violet OD570 = 0.675 ± 0.132), and marked aggregative adherence to…

CRISPR/Cas12a-Based Aptasensor for Cas9 Protein Detection in Spiked Food Matrices ↗
Residual gene editors are a concern associated with the widespread application of CRISPR/Cas9 technology. Here, we developed a CRISPR/Cas12a-based fluorescent aptasensor for the qualitative and quantitative detection of Cas9 protein. Secondary structure prediction and molecular docking were combined to identify potential binding sites of the Cas9-specific aptamer. A fluorescence aptasensor was constructed based on competitive binding: in the presence of Cas9, the aptamer binds to the target and releases complementary DNA (cDNA), which activates the trans-cleavage activity of Cas12a. Cas12a sub…

Priming of human iPSCs with doxorubicin causes genome-wide transcriptional reprogramming and functional impairments in iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes ↗
Abstract How Doxorubicin (Dox) mediated damage to stem cells or cardiomyocytes contributes to cardiotoxicity and cardiac regeneration is unclear. Using a human iPSC-based model together with corresponding iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes (iCMs) revealed that iPSCs are much more sensitive against single short pulse-treatments with Dox than iCMs. Major mitochondrial impairments such as increased mitochondrial fragmentation, loss of mitochondrial membrane potential, reduced ATP levels, and altered mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) organization, yet neither increased ROS formation, nuclear DNA damage response,…

Modular multifunctional 5HP2O linkers for the versatile assembly of protein-oligonucleotide conjugates ↗
Abstract As complex biotherapeutics continue to evolve, the demand for single-site, multi-functionalized protein conjugates intensifies. Current methods often suffer from maleimide-related hydrolytic instability or require multi-step invasive protein modifications. Here, we establish 5-hydroxy-1,5-dihydro-2H-pyrrol-2-ones (5HP2O) as modular, hydrolytically stable hubs for assembling multi-functional protein-oligonucleotide conjugates (POCs). Synthesized via one-pot photooxidation of 2-substituted furans, these linkers incorporate tunable spacers, 5HP2O Michael acceptor, a NHS active ester and…

Effects of Pharmacologically Induced Hyper-Protein O-GlcNAcylation on the Heart Transcriptome ↗
Background/Objectives: O-GlcNAcylation is a post-translational modification affecting diverse cell functions, including transcriptional regulation. Aberrant levels of protein O-GlcNAcylation have been observed in neurodegenerative and cardiovascular diseases. We have previously demonstrated that systemic elevation of protein O-GlcNAcylation significantly impacted the brain transcriptome. Method: In the current study, we investigated the impact of acute inhibition of O-GlcNAcase (OGA), the enzyme that removes O-GlcNAc modification from proteins using a pharmacological inhibitor, on the heart tr…

Computationally Guided Design and Experimental Validation of ssDNA Aptamers Targeting the SARS-CoV-2 Spike Protein ↗
Aptamer development has traditionally relied on iterative, labor-intensive experimental approaches. Recent advances in bioinformatics and computational power now enable the rational in silico design of high-affinity nucleic acid ligands, drastically reducing time and cost. Here, we present an integrated computational pipeline for designing ssDNA aptamers targeting the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 Spike (S) protein. A library of 4000 randomly generated 20-nucleotide sequences with defined base ratios (C:G:A:T = 3:3:2:2) was screened based on secondary structure and free energ…

A chromosome-level genome assembly of the chilli thrips Scirtothrips dorsalis Hood (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) ↗
Thrips are known for being pests of many agricultural crops, as well as vectors of plant viruses. Yet despite their economic importance, genomic resources for this group remain limited, and no chromosome-level genome has been available for the genus Scirtothrips. One such species is the chilli thrips, Scirtothrips dorsalis Hood (Thysanoptera: Thripidae). This invasive and highly polyphagous pest is established across much of the world and transmits several tospoviruses. Genomic resources would provide a new means to understand the traits that make thrips difficult to manage. Here, we present a

Additive in size, synergistic in composition: selection across the eastern oyster larval genome under coastal acidification and sewage effluent ↗
Coastal organisms experience natural and anthropogenic stressors simultaneously, yet the interactive effects of multiple stressors are largely unknown. In urbanized estuaries, coastal acidification (CA) is coupled to sewage effluent (SE): nutrient loading from SE stimulates microbial CO2 production, and this lowers the pH. The genomic targets of selection of CA and SE have been characterized separately but never together in early life stages of marine organisms. Here, we exposed eastern oyster (Crassostrea virginica) larvae to control, CA (~2800 μatm pCO2), SE (5% by volume), and the combinati

The genome sequence of the Lined Click Beetle, Agriotes lineatus (Linnaeus, 1767) (Coleoptera: Elateridae) ↗
Abstract We present a genome assembly from an individual Agriotes lineatus (Lined Click Beetle; Arthropoda; Insecta; Coleoptera; Elateridae). The assembly contains two haplotypes with total lengths of 2,590.71 megabases and 2,557.49 megabases. Most of the haplotype 1 assembly (87.5%) was scaffolded into 10 chromosomal pseudomolecules. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 16.27 kilobases. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain

How to assess evidence about Biotechnology
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
