Ethereum

This crypto thread follows ethereum through original research, public projects, and source reports. Read the evidence below to see which developments are represented in SYMTRI’s archive.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

8 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Recent sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Demand Under a Mechanical Price: Elasticity and Welfare in Ethereum's Data-Availability Market ↗

Ethereum sells data-availability capacity to rollups through "blobs" priced by a controller: the blob fee rises and falls exponentially with cumulative usage above or below a target, and no auction sets it. We measure what this mechanical price costs. The Pectra upgrade of 7 May 2025 doubled blob capacity on a date fixed weeks in advance, while the market was congested, and the blob fee fell from 0.82 mETH per blob (about USD 1.40) to its 1-wei floor. Rollups' blob purchases rose 24%. The 95% interval, built from the same estimator at 516 placebo dates, runs from 8% to 40%, so removing the ent…

Quantifying Ethereum Energy Consumption via Network Mapping ↗

Ethereum's electricity use fell by about 99.95% after the move from proof of work to proof of stake. Service providers still need to report operational energy use, e.g. under the EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR). Existing estimates either apply one typical wattage to every node or start from aggregated monitoring counts. Both ignore attributes that nodes already advertise on the peer-to-peer network: client software, ARM or x86 hardware, hosting location, and validator role. We crawl the consensus and execution layers, assign each peer a wattage from those attributes using publis…

Blockchain as a Trajectory in a Graph Database: A Model for Ethereum Transaction Analytics ↗

Blockchain platforms generate large volumes of interconnected transactional data, whose analysis can reveal important patterns of account activity, user interaction, and value transfers. This paper proposes a graph database model for representing and analyzing Ethereum blockchain data. The proposed model captures accounts, blocks, and external and internal transactions as graph nodes, while relationships represent the decomposition of external transactions into internal transactions, sender and receiver participation, temporal block succession, and transaction recording. By interpreting the bl…

How to assess evidence about Ethereum

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
