Protocols
This crypto thread follows protocols through original research, public projects, and source reports. Read the evidence below to see which developments are represented in SYMTRI’s archive.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗2 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Recent sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Pricing the Unprovable: Ambiguity, Turnstile Runs, and the Verifiability Discount in Crypto Protocols ↗
Privacy-preserving protocols can repair a vulnerability without establishing whether it was exploited beforehand, even when no theft is reported and aggregate supply is protected. We call the potential value reduction from this gap the verifiability discount. A turnstile model shows how early withdrawal can shift a possible shortfall to remaining holders and why credible evidence can become more valuable as exposure grows. We introduce VDISC, a reproducible framework that records reported loss, exposed value, public evidence, returns, and pool flows separately. It combines Orchard's staged dis…

On the Robustness of Gossip Protocols in Modern Blockchains ↗
Modern platforms such as Ethereum and Polkadot nowadays execute Byzantine fault-tolerant consensus protocols over large validator committees, often comprising hundreds of nodes. At this scale, complete graph topologies for connecting nodes are impractical, leading systems to adopt various gossip mechanisms, often in an ad hoc manner. In this paper, we study the robustness of widely deployed gossip protocols used in committee-based blockchains against realistic network adversaries. We show, both analytically and through extensive empirical measurements, that the graph parameters commonly chosen…

How to assess evidence about Protocols
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
