Earlier sources: Science

Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

1284 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Revealing the Spatial Distribution of Dust and Plasma Solitary Waves in Jupiter's Innermost Magnetosphere Using Juno Waves Observations ↗

Jupiter's faint ring system contains micron- and submicron-sized dust whose dynamics are influenced by the planet's rapidly rotating magnetic field. Optical observations have established the morphology of the main ring and halo, but tenuous dust close to Jupiter remains difficult to characterize. We analyze nearly a decade of in-situ Juno Waves electric-field measurements using a two-stage convolutional neural network to identify and classify dust impacts, solitary waves, and other plasma waves. These in-situ dust-impact detections reveal a radially evolving structure extending well inside the…

Quantum-Aware Key Rank for Side-Channel Attacks evaluation ↗

Side-channel attacks on block ciphers rarely recover the key outright: they leave a residual key space ordered by subkey posteriors, and evaluation laboratories report the key rank of the true key against thresholds near 2^48 and 2^60. No evaluation framework models an adversary who collects traces classically and finishes the search on a quantum computer, although quantum search with advice provides exactly that. We give such an adversary a cost model and a metric. For a device whose key has rank r, any quantum algorithm with classical access to the posteriors needs Omega(sqrt(r)) cipher eval…

Intermediate memory costs of quantum channel synthesis with a protected subsystem ↗

A quantum memory can preserve a subsystem perfectly while discarding information needed by a later operation. We study the total intermediate dimension required for channel synthesis when the first stage protects a $b$-dimensional subsystem and has a prescribed noncommutative graph imposing full confusability on an $a$-dimensional control register. For a finite family of classically controlled branches, exact synthesis is possible if and only if the target graph contains the prescribed graph of the first stage. For every feasible family, we construct a single processor that implements all bran…

Quantum Work Statistics from Entanglement-Assisted Invariance ↗

We demonstrate that the one-time measurement scheme is more consistent than the standard two-time measurement scheme with respect to the fundamental symmetry of entanglement, namely entanglement-assisted invariance (envariance). In particular, the work statistics obtained from the one-time measurement scheme arise naturally as a direct consequence of envariance for any driving unitary, without involving an explicit measurement postulate, whereas the analogous identification for the two-time measurement scheme is possible only for a Haar-measure-zero set of unitaries. This envariance-based form…

The Physics Is the Network: Fast, Training-Free Neural Emulation ↗

Neural emulation need not require learning a substitute for known physics. We investigate PolyNets that couple a continuous-time neural representation of polynomial dynamics with a simple recurrent network for discrete-time integration. When the governing coefficients are known, the resulting tensor graph requires no training and preserves the prescribed numerical scheme while enabling efficient hardware execution and parallel simulation. Using the one-dimensional Korteweg-de Vries equation, we compare PolyNet with CPU and GPU finite-difference Runge-Kutta solvers and three trained neural mode…

Petz Recovery through a Single Polar Transformation for Approximate Quantum Error Correction ↗

The Petz recovery map provides a near optimal decoder for approximate quantum error correction, but its inverse square-root normalization complicates circuit implementation. We use the polar structure of the Petz recovery isometry to implement recovery through a single quantum singular value transformation (QSVT). We give explicit block-encoding circuits and an extended recovery isometry that yields approximate Petz recovery without postselection. We bound the diamond distance between the approximate and ideal Petz encoding-recovery channels in terms of a spectrum-weighted loss, which provides…

A Two-Level Clinical Novelty Prioritization Framework for Disease Trajectories Discovered from Longitudinal Electronic Health Records ↗

Graph-based analysis of electronic health records (EHRs) yields disease-trajectory catalogs, but structural support does not establish semantic novelty. We present a two-level framework to prioritize 99,527 branching motifs previously discovered by an upstream patient-disjoint, train-only MIMIC-IV v3.1 pipeline and frozen after validation-based catalog selection. The framework separates path-level and node-to-endpoint semantic sparsity from reliability-adjusted clinical priority. Three deterministic textualizations per motif or node-target pair were embedded with BAAI/bge-small-en-v1.5 and cal…

Demonstration of a mobile ion-trap quantum device ↗

Trapped-ion devices are being investigated for transportable applications, including the transfer of exotic charged particles between laboratories and the development of portable quantum technologies. To date, ion transport has been demonstrated only in magnetic (Penning) traps, whereas radiofrequency (Paul) traps are the predominant platform in quantum science. Here, we report the first transport of a few thousand ions confined in a linear Paul trap over distances of several kilometers, with transport durations of 15 and 45 min. These results establish a foundation for mobile trapped-ion quan…

Quantum Spectral Estimation with Multiple Initial States: Improved Error and Cost Scaling ↗

We study quantum spectrum and eigenstate property estimation using multiple initial states and generalized Hadamard tests. Building on the QFAMES (quantum filtering and analysis of multiplicities in eigenvalue spectra) framework, we introduce a new method that samples evolution times independently for each initial-state pair. Under the stated assumptions, when statistical error determines the sampling cost, the total Hamiltonian simulation cost required for fixed-accuracy eigenvalue and observable estimation is independent of the number of initial states, up to logarithmic factors. This improv…

Universal enhancement of the pairing gap in a dilute Fermi superfluid ↗

At zero temperature, a dilute Fermi gas with an attractive contact interaction forms a superfluid with gapped fermionic excitations. We show that the gap at weak coupling can be organized as a trans-series expansion in the interaction strength and the asymptotic Gor'kov-Melik-Barkhudarov gap. Low-energy virtual quasiparticles generate corrections that are linear in the gap with a leading coefficient nearly 25$\times$ larger than the other known coefficients. This substantially increases the gap at intermediate densities, highlighting that systematic corrections are crucial for quantitative pre…

How to assess evidence about Science

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
