THE INTERNET IS THINKING
Earlier sources: Science
Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗1305 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Evaluation of Biochemical Markers and Clinical Outcomes in Snakebite Envenomation Patients in Mardan, Pakistan: A Hospital-Based Study ↗
Background: Snakebite envenomation is a public health problem with significant morbidity and mortality in developing countries especially in the rural population and is affected by delays in seeking health care. Biochemistry may be useful in predicting the disease's severity and outcomes. This study aims to assess biochemical parameters and clinical outcomes in snakebite envenomation patients and determine the risk factors for adverse outcomes. Methods: The study was descriptive in nature and it was conducted at MTI-Mardan Medical Complex, Pakistan. All 91 adult patients with clinically suspec…

Motif‐Selective DNA Recognition and Promoter‐Dependent Transcriptional Repression by a Cyclic Pyrrole/Lysine Polyamide ↗
Sequence-selective control of gene expression by synthetic DNA-binding molecules is attractive for developing chemical biology tools and potential therapeutic applications. Here we report a cyclic pyrrole/lysine polyamide (cPKP) that preferentially binds AT-rich DNA, with selective recognition of ATAT and ATGT motifs. In a HeLa nuclear extract-based transcription system, cPKP repressed transcription in a promoter-dependent manner, showing stronger inhibition of a cytomegalovirus (CMV) core promoter than of the human c-MYC promoter. RNA sequencing showed that cPKP was associated with downregula…

Physics informed neural network framework for non-similar nano-heat and solutal transport in a rheological fluid over a stretching cylinder ↗
Accurate prediction of non-similar momentum, thermal and solutal transport phenomena in rheological fluids is crucial for the design and optimization of advanced thermal management systems, heat exchangers, polymer processing, chemical reactors, energy conversion devices and biomedical transport processes. Motivated by these engineering applications, this study presents a Physics-Informed Neural Network (PINN) framework for analyzing magnetohydrodynamic mixed convection flow of a Jeffrey fluid over a stretching horizontal cylinder embedded in a Darcy porous medium. The mathematical model incor…

Whole-Genome Sequencing Re-Identifies Clinical “Peptoniphilus harei” Isolates as “Peptoniphilus genitalis” ↗
Accurate species-level identification within the genus Peptoniphilus is challenging, yet routine methods, including biochemical identification, MALDI-TOF MS, and 16S rRNA gene sequencing, have not been systematically evaluated. We re-identified seven clinical isolates recovered between 2019 and 2025 from blood, ovarian abscess, diabetic foot, and skin and soft tissue, using VITEK-2 ANC, two MALDI-TOF MS platforms (Autof ms1000 and Bruker Biotyper), 16S rRNA gene sequencing, and whole-genome sequencing (WGS) combined with average nucleotide identity (ANI) analysis. VITEK-2 reported all seven is…

High Expression of Aurora Kinase A (AURKA) is Associated with Aggressive Tumor Biology and Therapeutic Response in ER+/HER2− Breast Cancer ↗
BACKGROUND: Aurora kinase A (AURKA) is a serine/threonine kinase that regulates mitotic entry, spindle assembly, and chromosomal segregation. AURKA overexpression has been linked to multiple malignancies. The biological and clinical significance of AURKA expression within estrogen receptor-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (ER+/HER2-) breast cancer has yet to be fully elucidated. METHODS: A total of 8896 patients were analyzed across bulk transcriptomic datasets. Single-cell RNA sequencing datasets were also analyzed. ER+/HER2- tumors were divided into AURKA-high or -…

A Salmonella -specific protein enhances the antimicrobial peptide response of the PhoPQ two-component system ↗
ABSTRACT Salmonella enterica , a major global pathogen, has evolved a distinctive pathogenesis that differs from related enteric pathogens. A central regulator of Salmonella -specific virulence gene expression is the broadly conserved PhoP/PhoQ (PhoPQ) two-component system. PhoPQ serves a distinct role in Salmonella compared to other species, suggesting a need to adapt its function for its unique and expanded role in this species. In this study, we identify a novel, Salmonella -specific component of the PhoPQ signaling system, a small putative lipoprotein we name PalA. We show that PalA locali…

Prediction of Carbon Amount Based on Formation Rate in Catalyzed Methane Pyrolysis via Induction Heating: An Application of a Physics-Informed Neural Network ↗
Carbon deposition during catalytic methane pyrolysis under induction heating governs reactor operability and carbon recovery; however, the available datasets are sparse. In this study, literature-derived experimental data were curated and split into training, validation and test sets (70%, 15%, 15%) to develop physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) that predict the deposited carbon mass (MC) from the operating variables. Two models were proposed: PINN-M1, which embeds an Arrhenius-type carbon formation rate in the loss function, and PINN-M2, which constrains the time derivative of the MC to…

Development and initial evaluation of a urine DNA methylation assay for pan-urinary cancer detection ↗
Cancers affecting the urinary system, encompassing malignancies of the bladder, ureter, renal pelvis, kidney, and prostate, represent a major global health challenge. DNA methylation biomarkers for multi-cancer detection in the urinary tract have been evaluated in limited contexts. This study aimed to develop a non-invasive urine-based assay utilizing DNA methylation markers for the simultaneous detection of multiple urinary system cancers. In this retrospective case–control study of 609 participants, a four-gene urine DNA methylation model (H4C6, SIX6, SEPTIN9, and SHOX2) was developed in a t…

The genome sequence of a ground beetle, Amara ovata Motschulsky, 1844 (Coleoptera: Carabidae) ↗
We present a genome assembly from an individual female Amara ovata (ground beetle; Arthropoda; Insecta; Coleoptera; Carabidae). The assembly contains two haplotypes with total lengths of 806.52 megabases and 812.77 megabases. Haplotypes 1 and 2 each contain 16 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the X sex chromosome; these account for 95.54% and 96.53% of their respective sequences. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 16.33 kilobases. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces genomes for eukaryotic species found in…

How to assess evidence about Science
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
