THE INTERNET IS THINKING
Earlier sources: Science
Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗1295 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Complementary Molecular and Spectroscopic Approaches for Meat Authentication: Real-Time PCR Detection of Porcine DNA and FT-NIR Analysis of Slaughter-Related Biochemical Changes ↗
Food adulteration and species mislabeling represent important challenges for food safety, regulatory control, and consumer protection, particularly for products requiring species-specific authentication. This study investigated two complementary analytical approaches relevant to meat authentication: species-specific real-time polymerase chain reaction (real-time PCR) for the molecular detection of porcine mitochondrial deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and Fourier-transform near-infrared (FT-NIR) spectroscopy combined with chemometric analysis for exploratory assessment of slaughter-related composit…

Chromosome‐Level Genome Assembly of Strauchbufo raddei and Multi‐Omic Insights Into Drought Adaptation ↗
ABSTRACT Understanding how amphibians adapt to terrestrial and arid environments is important for elucidating vertebrate terrestrialization. In this study, we present the first chromosome‐level, high‐quality genome assembly of Strauchbufo raddei , constructed using PacBio HiFi long‐read sequencing and Hi‐C scaffolding. The assembled genome is 4.47 Gb in size, with a scaffold N50 of 575 Mb and 94.5% BUSCO completeness, and 99.8% of sequences anchored to 11 chromosomes, providing a valuable genomic resource for amphibian evolutionary and ecological studies. Comparative genomic analyses identifie…

A hybrid encryption algorithm based on AES and Kyber for secure image protection in the post-quantum era ↗
The exponential rise in the sharing of multimedia information is accompanied by an increase in vulnerability during data exchange. As quantum computing is threatening the fundamentals of classical cryptography, it is important that multimedia data be protected by quantum-secured encryption techniques. Hybrid encryption that combines symmetric cyphers with post-quantum key encapsulation is an established architectural pattern, but its use for image data has not been explored in depth. This paper presents Quantum Good Privacy (QGP), a hybrid image-encryption scheme that combines AES-256 in Ciphe…

A self-supervised physics-informed residual temporal convolutional network with progressive sparse reconstruction for moving load identification ↗
Existing model-driven moving load identification (MLI) methods are highly sensitive to the selection of regularization parameters, whereas purely data-driven approaches generally require extensive labeled datasets and often suffer from limited generalization under complex vehicle-bridge interaction conditions. To address these challenges, a self-supervised physics-informed residual temporal convolutional network (PI-ResTCN) framework is proposed for accurate and robust MLI. Firstly, an orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP)-based sparse inversion scheme is employed to obtain an initial load estimat…

A selectivity filter in Tim17 mediates intramitochondrial protein sorting ↗
Abstract Mitochondria import hundreds of proteins into the matrix and the inner membrane (IM). The translocase of the IM of mitochondria (TIM23 complex) sorts these proteins using topogenic signals in their structure and directs them into the matrix or inserts them into the IM. How these signals are deciphered is unknown. Here we show that Tim17, the protein-conducting subunit of the TIM23 complex, contains a highly conserved selectivity filter for incoming proteins. Using a fluorescence-based sorting reporter, we identified the mitochondrial oxidoreductase Dmo2 (akin to DMAC1 in humans) as fa…

High-throughput single-spore genome sequencing of filamentous ascomycete fungi using the SAG-gel platform ↗
Abstract Background Fungal genomic resources remain biased toward taxa that can be cultured, enriched, or isolated in sufficient biomass. Amplicon and metagenomic surveys reveal extensive diversity but do not preserve the genome context of individual propagules, and recovery of low-abundance fungal genomes from complex samples remains difficult. Fungal single-cell genomics provides a complementary approach, but current workflows remain limited in throughput, taxonomic scope, and sample requirements. Unicellular spores provide a practical target because they are discrete biological units of dis…

Mitochondrial Unfolded Protein Response Under Hypoxic Conditions ↗
Hypoxia is a critical condition affecting the physiological and pathophysiological processes in the cellular environment due to depleted oxygen levels.Under hypoxic conditions, cells undergo a series of changes to adapt to the lack of oxygen that is vital for cellular metabolism in higher organisms.Importantly, hypoxia may induce organelle-specific molecular alterations, including misfolded/unfolded proteins. As a fundamental response to these changes, the unfolded protein response (UPR) is triggered by organelles, including the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and mitochondria.UPR in mitochondria (U…

Adapting super-resolution reconstruction for skeletal analysis of clinical computed tomography data ↗
Abstract Clinical computed tomography (CT) datasets are increasingly common in skeletal research, yet archived retrospective datasets with thick-slice, anisotropic reconstructions are more commonly available to researchers than the original high-resolution scans. Models reconstructed from these suboptimal scans can produce distorted measurements and irregular surfaces. This study evaluates a super-resolution reconstruction (SRR) framework for generating skeletal models with improved surface smoothness and continuity from multiple orthogonal, thick-slice CT stacks. Archived CT scans of long bon…

Physics-consistent Bayesian early warning of wind turbine blade stall using an auxiliary regularized particle filter ↗
Early warning of wind turbine blade stall is difficult because early aerodynamic degradation is weak and easily masked by operating-condition variability and non-Gaussian disturbances in SCADA data. This study proposes a physics-consistent Bayesian sequential early-warning framework based on an auxiliary regularized particle filter. A physically constrained nonlinear state-space model with a latent health factor represents aerodynamic degradation while preserving the coupling among wind speed, rotor speed, and power. For stable inference under turbulence and model mismatch, the likelihood-enha…

Separating Artificial-Viscosity Annealing from the L-BFGS Viscosity in Physics-Informed Neural Networks for Two-Phase Flow ↗
Physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) remain difficult to train for hyperbolic conservation laws. Artificial viscosity is a common remedy, and several methods reduce its coefficient during training. We examine adaptive moment estimation (Adam) followed by limited-memory Broyden–Fletcher–Goldfarb–Shanno (L-BFGS) optimisation. The schedule followed during Adam, the viscosity used during L-BFGS, and the checkpoint supplied between them can change together. We separate these factors for the one-dimensional Buckley–Leverett equation using a fixed multilayer perceptron with hyperbolic-tangent act…

How to assess evidence about Science
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
