Earlier sources: Science

Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

1366 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

53BP1 condensates regulate DNA replication progression and completion ↗

DNA replication in mammalian cells proceeds in chromosomal domains during defined windows of S phase; however, the mechanisms coordinating replication with restoration of chromatin states remain incompletely understood. Here, we identify p53-binding protein 1 (53BP1) condensates as regulators of heterochromatin replication and epigenetic restoration. Loss of 53BP1 delays mid-to-late S-phase progression, compromises recruitment of epigenetic restoration factors, and impairs timely completion of heterochromatin replication and restoration of heterochromatin-associated epigenetic marks. These def…

Genetically engineered RNA inducers of proximity for protein regulation ↗

Current genetic engineering technology that based on complementary base pairing for target recognition is a powerful tool to control protein expression at DNA or RNA levels. Nonetheless, limited research has utilized genetic strategies to directly manipulate proteins. To address this gap, we have developed a method of genetically engineered RNA inducers of proximity (GENRIP), one strategy that leverages RNA structure-dependent protein recognition to precisely regulate protein activity. GENRIP is a modular and bifunctional RNA comprising two kinds of motifs: a conserved RNA motif that recruits…

Energy-reserve coordinated scheduling of cascade hydro-photovoltaic-pumped storage systems based on physics-constrained graph neural networks ↗

Intraday scheduling of cascade hydro-photovoltaic-pumped storage systems requires joint coordination of energy dispatch, photovoltaic accommodation, reserve security, and physical feasibility under photovoltaic fluctuation, load variation, inflow uncertainty, and limited storage capacity. Existing optimization methods can describe physical constraints, but their repeated solution in rolling scheduling depends on forecast inputs, uncertainty sets, or scenario construction. Data-driven dispatch models provide fast inference, yet generic temporal or graph structures may mix hydrological transfer,…

Seq2DomML: Protein domain boundary prediction from bacterial protein sequences using a machine learning framework ↗

Abstract Purpose The identification of protein domain boundaries is important for designing stable single-domain constructs for protein structural solution. For proteins without experimentally determined structures, boundary selection often relies on conserved domain annotations, predicted structures, or iterative truncation screening. Seq2DomML is developed as a sequence-based machine learning framework for predicting residue-level domain partitions in bacterial proteins without requiring structural coordinates or homologous domain assignments as input. Methods Structural domain annotations f…

ERGA-BGE reference genome of the European bladdernut (Staphylea pinnata) ↗

We present a chromosome-level genome assembly for Staphylea pinnata L. (Crossosomatales: Staphyleaceae), commonly known as European bladdernut. The assembly spans 1.56 Gb and comprises 48 contigs assembled into 23 scaffolds. Thirteen chromosome-scale pseudomolecules were recovered, together with the mitochondrial and chloroplast genomes. The contig N50 is 71.16 Mb, and the scaffold N50 is 130.01 Mb. BUSCO analysis using the Eudicots odb10 dataset indicated 95.5% completeness, and the assembly had a Merqury quality value of 60.8. The genome annotation includes 25,870 protein-coding genes and 16…

Genome-wide association study of gestation length in German Holsteins ↗

Gestation length (GL) is important in seasonal calving systems and in the calving trait complex, because it affects traits such as stillbirth (SB) and calving ease. Utilizing imputed high-density genotypes from 34 497 German Holstein cows, this study aimed to identify genomic regions associated with GL. For this, a genome-wide association study (GWAS) was conducted, and the results were interpreted by searching for previously reported adjacent quantitative trait loci (QTLs). Four GL traits were analyzed: the direct calf effects on GL in first (GL_d1) and second (GL_d2) parity, along with the m…

DAF-16/FOXO maintains genome integrity following genotoxic stress ↗

Preserving genomic integrity is crucial for the accurate transmission of genetic information across generations, as well as for preventing precocious ageing. The DNA Damage Response (DDR) safeguards the genome from genotoxic stress through a coordinated system of sensors, relay proteins, and repair mechanisms. Since DNA repair is an energy-intensive activity, the process is tightly regulated and coordinated with various metabolic pathways. The nutrient-sensing insulin/IGF signalling (IIS) pathway has been extensively studied for its role in ageing and lifespan regulation in C. elegans through…

Rapid Whole Genome Sequencing Enhances Pediatric Cancer Diagnosis ↗

Abstract Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) has been shown to improve diagnosis beyond standard-of-care genetic tests and guide precision treatment for childhood cancer. While WGS is now offered for children with suspected cancer in England, clinical workflows typically return results after several weeks whereas clinical decisions are often required within days. Here we evaluate feasibility and efficacy of a rapid WGS (rWGS) research workflow with streamlined bioinformatics to deliver clinical genomic findings (NCT07201038, Active, not recruiting). In 54 children with suspected or confirmed maligna…

Clinical impact of dual carbapenemase co-production on 28-day mortality in ICU patients with carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae: a prospective study from South India ↗

Abstract Background Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) is a critical priority pathogen associated with substantial morbidity and mortality, particularly in intensive care units (ICUs). Although carbapenemase co-production is increasingly recognized, its clinical significance and relationship with mortality remain incompletely defined, particularly in South Asian ICU populations. Methods We conducted a prospective observational study among ICU patients with culture-confirmed CRKP infection in a tertiary care hospital in South India (January 2024-January 2025). Carbapenemase genes…

Differential cellular and DNA damage responses of meristematic cells to trace and excess Selenium exposure ↗

Selenium (Se) is an element that can be beneficial to plants in trace amounts, but can exhibit toxicity beyond these trace amounts. This study aimed to determine the dose-dependent toxic effects of different Se doses on Allium cepa meristem cells; cytogenetic, anatomical, biochemical, and physiological changes were evaluated using a holistic approach. For this purpose, Allium bulbs were exposed to Se concentrations of 1.5, 3, 10, 20, and 50 µM. Genotoxicity was assessed using the mitotic index, micronucleus frequency, chromosomal abnormalities, and comet test; oxidative stress indicators, as w…

How to assess evidence about Science

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
