Earlier sources: Science
Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗1368 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Protein Glutamylation: From Cytoskeleton to Signaling ↗
ABSTRACT Protein glutamylation is a reversible post‐translational modification (PTM) that involves the enzymatic addition of glutamate moieties to, and their removal from, target proteins, thereby modulating their activity, stability, localization, and molecular interactions. Initially characterized as a defining feature of the tubulin code that governs microtubule organization, ciliary function, and neuronal integrity, glutamylation is now recognized as a broader regulatory mechanism extending far beyond the cytoskeleton. This review highlights the conceptual shift from tubulin‐centered regul…

RNA ‐related functions of BRCA2 in transcription, replication, and genome stability ↗
BRCA2 is a central tumor suppressor protein best known for its roles in homologous recombination and replication fork stability. Increasing evidence, however, positions BRCA2 at the interface of transcription and replication, where it preserves genome stability under transcription-associated stress. BRCA2 regulates R-loop homeostasis, transcription-replication conflict resolution, and RNA polymerase II dynamics. Its loss leads to R-loop accumulation, transcriptional pausing, and elevated transcription-replication head-on collisions, particularly in highly transcribed regions. BRCA2 also promot…

Harnessing CYP71 Enzymes for Terpenoid Indole Alkaloid Production: A Synthetic Biology Perspective from Discovery to Application ↗
Abstract Terpenoid indole alkaloids (TIAs) are a class of structurally diverse natural products with important pharmacological activities. Recently, substantial progress has been made in elucidating TIA biosynthetic pathways, and these studies have revealed the central roles of CYP71 clan enzymes (CYP71s) in both the formation and the modification of the TIA scaffold. In this review, we trace the stepwise elucidation of representative TIA biosynthetic pathways and summarize the functions and catalytic principles of the CYP71s, with emphasis on the reaction types and mechanistic features that u…

Predicting the post-fire load-bearing capacity of slab-column structures based on a physics-embedded deep learning algorithm ↗
While reinforced concrete slab-column structures have been widely adopted in practical buildings, this type of structure is vulnerable to brittle punching shear failure under fire. Predicting the post-fire structural capacity is of great importance to accelerate the post-fire retrofitting or replacement. However, the post-fire performance of slab-column structures is influenced by multiple factors and their interactions. This study proposes a physics-embedded deep learning algorithm to predict the load-bearing capacity of slab-column connections after fire. First, 108 scenarios considering the…

Interface-aware adaptive layer-wise physics-informed neural networks for multilayer large-strain consolidation: a benchmark of architectures, training strategies, and trade-offs ↗
Multilayer large-strain consolidation in stratified soils involves nonlinear pore-pressure dissipation, evolving deformation, and material discontinuities, which pose significant challenges for physics-informed neural networks (PINNs). This study develops a layer-wise adaptive PINN framework in which soil layers are represented by neural subnetworks coupled through pore-pressure and Darcy-flux continuity conditions. A controlled three-layer benchmark is used to evaluate MLP and KAN architectures, adaptive activation, adaptive weighting, and parameter sharing over three independent random seeds…

Protein secretion by the type IV pilus machinery in Francisella tularensis ↗
ABSTRACT Francisella tularensis is a highly virulent, Gram-negative bacterial pathogen that causes the zoonotic disease tularemia. F. tularensis infects a variety of host cells and replicates intracellularly while evading and interfering with host immune responses. The molecular mechanisms that facilitate the intracellular replication and virulence of F. tularensis are poorly understood. The Francisella genome contains a set of pil genes that code for the assembly of surface fibers termed type IV pili (T4P). T4P are major bacterial virulence determinants but the function of the pil system duri…

Efficiency, Curvature, and Complexity of Quantum Evolutions for Qubits in Nonstationary Magnetic Fields ↗
In optimal quantum-mechanical evolutions, motion can take place along paths of minimal length within an optimal time frame. Alternatively, optimal evolutions may occur along established paths without any waste of energy resources and achieving 100% speed efficiency. Unfortunately, realistic physical scenarios often lead to less-than-ideal evolutions that demonstrate suboptimal efficiency, nonzero curvature, and a high level of complexity. In this paper, we provide an exact analytical expression for the curvature of a quantum evolution pertaining to a two-level quantum system subjected to vario…

Learning Quantum Hamiltonians at Any Temperature in Polynomial Time ↗
Abstract. We study the problem of learning a local quantum Hamiltonian [Formula: see text] given copies of its Gibbs state [Formula: see text] at a known inverse temperature [Formula: see text]. Anshu et al. [2020 IEEE 61st Annual Symposium on Foundations of Computer Science, pp. 685–691] gave an algorithm to learn a Hamiltonian on [Formula: see text] qubits to precision [Formula: see text] with only polynomially many copies of the Gibbs state, but which takes exponential time. Obtaining a computationally efficient algorithm has been a major open problem [ Alhambra, PRX Quantum, 4 (2023), 0402…

EdiProPred: Prediction of Edible Plant Tissue-Associated Proteins Using Large Language Models ↗
Ensuring the safety and suitability of proteins considered for food and biotechnology applications is an important challenge. Computational approaches can facilitate the prioritisation of candidate proteins for further investigation, particularly given the rapid growth of genomic and metagenomic sequence datasets. In this study, we developed computational models to distinguish edible plant tissue-associated (EPTA) proteins from non-EPTA proteins. The positive class comprised 939 proteins with experimentally validated evidence of expression in plant tissues commonly consumed by humans, hereafte

CRISPR-Cas9 Editing of Myeloid Lectins Reveals Target-Dependent Transcriptional Remodeling in Tumor-Associated Macrophages ↗
Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) integrate multiple microenvironmental signals, including lectin-mediated recognition of tumor-associated glycans. Although several myeloid lectins have been implicated in tumor-macrophage interactions, their contributions to immunosuppressive TAM phenotypes remain poorly defined. We implemented a CRISPR-Cas9 ribonucleoprotein (RNP) workflow in primary human monocytes to enable comparative loss-of-function interrogation of five potentially immunosuppressive lectins we previously reported. CRISPR-Cas9 RNP delivery conditions were benchmarked in freshly isolate

How to assess evidence about Science
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
