THE INTERNET IS THINKING
Earlier sources: Science
Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗1541 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

EXPRESS: Bayesian networks to estimate prognosis in vascular cognitive impairment and small vessel disease: integrated analyses of interdependent contributors to multiple outcomes. ↗
Vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) and small vessel disease (SVD) involve interconnected factors influencing multiple outcomes, also beyond cognitive decline. Bayesian networks (BNs) can help unravel these complex interrelations, which we demonstrate in this proof-of-concept study in the Heart-Brain Connection cohort, including memory-clinic patients with SVD, patients with heart failure, carotid occlusive disease, and reference participants. We trained BNs and jointly modelled cognitive decline (Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR) increase) and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) over five

Spatial Transcriptomic Profiling Reveals a Fibroblast-Associated Extracellular Matrix Niche in KRAS G12C-Mutant Lung Adenocarcinoma Primary Tumors From Patients With Metastasis. ↗
KRAS G12C is the most common KRAS alteration in lung adenocarcinoma and has emerging therapeutic relevance. However, the spatial programs within primary tumors that accompany metastasis remain poorly understood. We profiled primary tumor tissues from four patients with KRAS G12C-mutant lung adenocarcinoma, including two without metastasis and two with metastasis, using 10× Visium spatial transcriptomics. Spatial clustering, differential expression, functional enrichment, and Robust Cell Type Decomposition (RCTD)-based deconvolution using a published non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) single-ce

Magnolol enhances yak oocyte maturation and blastocyst quality by improving lipid metabolism and redox homeostasis through a PPARγ-dependent mechanism. ↗
Reproductive efficiency in yaks is limited by the poor developmental competence of their oocytes during in vitro maturation (IVM). Magnolol (MAG), a natural polyphenolic compound with potent antioxidant activity, has been reported to regulate cellular metabolism and oxidative stress; however, its role in oocyte maturation and early embryonic development remains unclear. Therefore, this study investigated the effects and molecular mechanisms of MAG on yak oocyte maturation and developmental competence. Yak cumulus-oocyte complexes were cultured in IVM medium supplemented with different concentr

Blood cell composition reveals distinct biological interpretation of DNA methylation age and age acceleration. ↗
Epigenetic clocks are widely applied biomarkers of biological age, but their biological underpinnings remain unclear. We previously showed that epigenetic clocks are affected by naïve and memory T cell proportions, suggesting blood cell composition as a potential driver. However, analysis of cell composition is complicated by collinearity between cell fractions. We first develop a principal component analysis (PCA) method that is robust to collinearity of blood cell counts and show that this approach provides biologically meaningful insights. Next, we quantify the contribution of cell composit

Profiling of Bioactive Secondary Metabolites of Colletotrichum siamense Isolated from Catharanthus roseus with Emphasis on Moschamine by Advanced Chromatographic and Mass Spectrometric Techniques. ↗
Endophytic fungi are microorganisms that live in symbiotic relationships with plants, residing within their tissues without causing damage or disease to the host. Endophytic fungi provide vitality to the host plant and are excellent producers of many secondary metabolites that may contain pharmaceutical properties. In this study, Catharanthus roseus (L.) G. was collected from various places in Jharkhand to identify and isolate the endophytic fungi found in the leaf tissues of these plants. A total of 30 unique fungal isolates were obtained and maintained through subculturing at regular interva

Presentation patterns for initial incorrect diagnosis in diagnostic errors. ↗
Objectives The typicality of clinical presentations for the initial (incorrect) diagnosis in cases of diagnostic error remains poorly understood. We conducted this study to systematically characterize these clinical presentation patterns in diagnostic-error cases using the PSUC classification. Methods We retrospectively applied the PSUC classification (Primary, Suggestive, Uncommon, Chameleon features) to the initial diagnoses of cases from a dataset of diagnostic-error case reports. Cases with a single explicitly named initial working diagnosis were included. Classification was performed by 2

Dependence of the precipitation intensity distribution on spatial and temporal resolution in observations ↗
Precipitation intensity varies with both spatial and temporal resolution, with broad implications across climate science, yet the nature of this dependence is poorly characterized. We investigate how precipitation intensity distributions change with spatial and temporal resolutions and introduce a framework that approximates these changes between resolutions. Using merged satellite-gauge data regridded to various grid sizes, we construct precipitation amount distributions for spatial resolutions ranging from a base resolution of 0.1$^\circ$ for IMERG and 1$^\circ$ for the FROGS database to a c…

Post-Training Quantization of Autoregressive Weather Models ↗
Advancements in high-resolution numerical weather prediction (NWP) and data assimilation (DA) have shaped the developments in deep learning (DL) architectures emulating atmospheric dynamics. Emulators for weather forecasting exhibit forecast quality comparable to physics based models at forecast horizon scaling from few days to subseasonal time scales. The emulators are driven by hardware-accelerated matrix multiplication in autoregressive inferences, significantly reducing the computation time and resources required for NWP. Optimization of the matrix multiplication processes in GPU architect…

Generative modeling of intrinsically disordered protein regions by reinforcing sparse autoencoder features ↗
Intrinsically disordered protein regions (IDRs) play central roles in cellular processes such as transcriptional regulation, signal transduction, and subcellular localization, yet their functional design remains challenging. Structure-based design methods do not readily apply to IDRs, and existing protein language models are trained on full-length protein sequences, thus learning a prior that is biased towards folded domains. Here, we present IDiom, an autoregressive protein language model trained on IDiom-DB, a dataset of 54 million predicted IDRs curated from the AlphaFold Database. IDiom ge…

How to assess evidence about Science
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
