Earlier sources: Science
Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗1644 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

USP4-Dependent CHAF1B Stabilization Regulates Distinct SETDB1 Ubiquitin States Linked to AKT T308 Signaling and Lipogenic Remodeling in HCC. ↗
Durable responses to current therapies remain limited in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), highlighting the need to identify regulators of malignant progression. By integrating multi-omics analyses, spatial transcriptomics, clinical specimens, and multiple models, we identified chromatin assembly factor 1B (CHAF1B) as a functional regulator of HCC phenotypes. Gain- and loss-of-function of CHAF1B altered proliferative, migratory, clonogenic, and tumorigenic phenotypes. LC-MS/MS, DIA proteomics, and cell-based assays revealed CHAF1B-associated lipogenic remodeling characterized by SREBP1C nuclear

Developmentally Guided Differentiation of Ventral Midbrain Dopaminergic Cells Validated in Proteopathy-Based Parkinson's Disease Models. ↗
Parkinson's disease (PD) involves progressive degeneration of nigrostriatal ventral midbrain dopaminergic (vmDA) neurons and Lewy body proteopathy, necessitating scalable, lineage-faithful donor cells. However, variability in human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC) differentiation and incomplete ventral midbrain identity limit translational use. Here, we establish a developmentally guided differentiation protocol that reproducibly specifies EN1-positive vmDA progenitors through temporally optimized SHH, WNT/β-catenin, and FGF8 signaling. The resulting progenitors mature into vmDA neurons exhibiting

Rhizodeposition Drives One Third of Belowground Carbon Input in Agroecosystems. ↗
Soil carbon (C) accumulation, an important mitigation solution to climate change, critically depends on plant C inputs. However, the allocation of belowground C inputs between root biomass and labile rhizodeposits remains poorly quantified. By synthesizing 746 global observations using 13C/14C tracing, we reveal that 17% of plant assimilated C is allocated belowground, with rhizodeposition accounting for one-third of the net belowground C input. Legumes primarily allocate assimilated C to belowground via rhizodeposition, whereas other crops, including barley, wheat, rice, maize, and grasses, i

Astrocytes Coordinate Neurovascular Coupling During Prolonged Sensory Demand via AQP4/TRPA1/BEST1/D-Serine Signaling. ↗
Astrocytes are recognized as key components of neurovascular coupling (NVC), yet whether and how astrocytic engagement in NVC depends on sensory stimulus duration remains unclear. Here, we investigated a duration-dependent astrocytic mechanism underlying cerebral blood volume (CBV) modulation by comparing neurovascular responses to brief (5 s) and prolonged (20 s) sensory stimulation, using in vivo intrinsic optical signal (IOS) imaging and two-photon microscopy combined with electrophysiology and vascular cannulation. We show that prolonged stimulation selectively recruits an integrated astro

Disability, mental health symptom recognition, and treatment-seeking in resident physicians with depressive symptoms. ↗
Resident physicians are at high-risk for depressive symptoms, yet most of those meeting depression criteria do not seek care. Resident physicians with disabilities are at higher risk for depressive symptoms. However, their mental health treatment-seeking behaviours remain poorly understood. This study investigates associations between self-identified disability-status, mental health symptom recognition, and treatment-seeking among first-year residents with depressive symptoms. We analysed data from the 2020-2022 cohorts of the Intern Health Study, a longitudinal study of first-year resident ph

The Yield-Associated TaCOL-B5 Locus Activates Its Tightly Linked Target TaDRS1 to Restrict Root Apical Meristem Proliferation and Deep Rooting in Wheat. ↗
Rooting depth underpins subsoil water capture and drought resilience in wheat, yet the regulators coupling root apical meristem (RAM) activity to vertical root growth remain largely unknown. We characterise Deep Root Suppressor 1 (TaDRS1; TraesCS7B01G400700), a transcriptional target of the yield-associated CONSTANS-like locus TaCOL-B5 lying only 32 kb away on chromosome 7B. In the common recessive (Tacol-B5) background of most modern wheat, chromatin immunoprecipitation-qPCR and dual-luciferase assays show that the Tacol-B5 protein occupies a CCAAT-box region of the TaDRS1 promoter and activa

Analysis of the P300 Component in Children Practicing Karate at Different Stages of Biological Maturation: An Investigation of Attention and Working Memory. ↗
ObjectivesTo investigate attention and working memory by comparing children who practice Karate with non-Karate practitioners at different stages of biological maturation through P300 amplitude and latency during a Go/No-Go paradigm.MethodsThe P300 component was analyzed at the Fz, Cz, and Pz electrodes in 80 participants divided into two groups: Karate practitioners and non-Karate practitioners. Each group was subdivided by Peak Height Velocity into two maturational levels.ResultsAt Pz, a Group × Peak Height Velocity interaction was found for P300 amplitude (F = 45.85, p < 0.001). At Cz, a Gr

Suêtes: An end-to-end differentiable non-hydrostatic limited-area dynamical core ↗
We present Suêtes, a fully differentiable, non-hydrostatic, limited-area atmospheric dynamical core implemented in JAX. Suêtes includes both a semi-implicit semi-Lagrangian scheme and a Split-Explicit Runge-Kutta scheme with acoustic substepping, enabling applications from coarse regional simulations to convection-permitting dynamics. Its terrain-following geometry, spatial discretization, time integration, initial conditions, lateral boundary treatment, and included physical parameterizations are all compatible with reverse-mode automatic differentiation. A single reverse-mode pass can theref…

Bayesian Active Learning of Ion Loss-Cone Boundaries in Tokamaks ↗
Loss-cone boundary determination in tokamaks is cast as an active learning problem in which a Bayesian logistic regression model with radial basis function features acts as the learner and the guiding-center orbit integrator acts as the labeling method. The approach is applied to an analytic tokamak equilibrium across a mesh of launch positions, producing a database of loss-probability models with approximate posterior uncertainty, each generated within a prescribed trajectory budget. Once generated, the database supports downstream applications, illustrated here with three examples. First, in…

How to assess evidence about Science
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
