Earlier sources: Science
Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗1652 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Intraoperative blood pressure targeting in noncardiac surgery: a Bayesian random-effects meta-analysis of randomized trials. ↗
Background Whether protocolized intraoperative arterial pressure-targeting strategies provide incremental benefit beyond contemporary usual care remains uncertain. We performed a Bayesian meta-analysis of randomized trials in major noncardiac surgery. Methods MEDLINE, Embase, and Cochrane CENTRAL were searched from inception to January 5, 2026, with additional literature surveillance through June 29, 2026. Randomized trials comparing protocolized intraoperative arterial pressure-targeting strategies with usual care or lower-pressure approaches were included. The primary outcome was all-cause m

Anhedonia as a transdiagnostic construct: implications for clinical practice and research. ↗
Anhedonia, the diminished interest and/or capacity for pleasure, is increasingly recognised as a transdiagnostic symptom that spans mood, anxiety, neurodevelopmental and psychotic disorders. Rather than being specific to any single disorder, anhedonia reflects core dysfunction in reward processing and affect regulation, with broad implications for social and functional outcomes.

A semi-automated genetic screen using genome-wide association analysis identifies modulators of stress-induced sleep in Caenorhabditis elegans. ↗
Animals sleep more when they are sick. In C. elegans, stress-induced sleep (SIS) follows cellular injury such as exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light. The genetic regulators of SIS remain incompletely defined. Using robotic automation, high-throughput imaging, and genome-wide association analysis, we performed a semi-automated screen of 940 whole-genome sequenced Million Mutation Project (MMP) strains. We quantified behavioral activity and quiescence before and after ultraviolet (UV) radiation. We applied the Sequence Kernel Association Test (SKAT) to this behavioral data to prioritize a set of

Structural and metabolic signatures of cardiac aging in African turquoise killifish (Nothobranchius furzeri) . ↗
Aging induces profound structural remodeling of the heart, yet experimental investigation of cardiac aging remains limited due to the long lifespan of most vertebrate models. The African turquoise killifish (Nothobranchius furzeri) provides a unique opportunity to analyze age-related cardiac changes within an experimentally accessible timeframe. While previous studies have primarily focused on the short-lived GRZ strain, cardiac aging in long-lived strains remains poorly characterized. In this study, we examined cardiac aging in the long-lived MZCS strain of N. furzeri using histological analy

Kamino: fast proteome-wide variant calling for amino acid phylogenomics. ↗
Amino acid-based phylogenetics usually relies on first clustering and aligning orthologous proteins. This approach is powerful but computationally demanding. Here, we present kamino, a reference- and alignment-free method that rapidly builds amino acid phylogenomic alignments directly from proteomes. As with similar algorithms, homologous regions are identified through shared sequences flanking variable regions. The method uses local changes in recoded k-mer occupancy to efficiently identify variable positions within these homologous regions and extract the corresponding pseudo-aligned sequenc

Next-generation brain organoids: neural complexity from cellular diversity to functional networks. ↗
Brain organoids, as pioneering three-dimensional (3D) in vitro platforms, have profoundly advanced our understanding of human brain development and disease mechanisms. This review summarizes recent progress in enhancing cellular diversity, structural organization, and functional complexity within brain organoids. A key application of these models lies in disease modelling, encompassing neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders as well as brain tumours, which enables personalized drug screening and mechanistic studies. Despite persistent challenges related to neuronal maturation, vascu

PARP1 Constrains Insertional Prime Editing in a Context-Dependent Manner. ↗
Prime editing (PE) enables precise insertions, deletions, and substitutions without double-strand breaks, but editing efficiency remains highly variable. To identify modulators of PE outcomes, we screened 569 compounds targeting DNA damage and repair pathways in K562 cells using targeted next-generation sequencing. PARP inhibitors selectively enhanced PE-mediated insertions at the HEK3 locus by more than 2-fold, without improving substitution or deletion editing. Genetic loss of PARP1 reproduced this phenotype, identifying PARP1 as the principal mediator. PARP1 inhibition enhanced insertion ef

Conformational insights into the unfolding pathway of RNA recognition motif (RRM) domain of TAF15 associated with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. ↗
The RNA recognition motif (RRM) domain of TAF15 protein plays an essential role in RNA binding and regulation of diverse cellular processes. However, the molecular mechanism underlying its structural stability and folding behaviour associated with disease state remains poorly understood. Herein, we performed an extensive molecular dynamics (MD) simulations study to investigate the conformational dynamics and unfolding pathway of the TAF15-RRM domain in 8 M urea. The elevated temperatures (300-500 K) were employed to accelerate the unfolding and capture different conformational states. The resu

A selective sweep likely linked to xenobiotic detoxification identified along altitudinal gradients in the pine processionary moth. ↗
Understanding how natural populations adapt to complex environmental gradients is crucial for predicting evolutionary responses to global change. The pine processionary moth (Thaumetopoea pityocampa), a major forest pest expanding northward and upward in Europe, provides an ideal model to explore genomic adaptation along altitudinal and/or latitudinal gradients. We combined pooled and individual whole-genome resequencing of four pairs of low- and high-elevation populations from Spain, Italy and France (mainland and Corsica) to detect signatures of local adaptation. Population structure analyse

Enthalpy-Entropy Compensation in Inhibitor Binding to Carbonic Anhydrase Isozymes. ↗
Enthalpy-entropy compensation is a widely observed feature of protein-ligand recognition, yet its structural origins remain difficult to resolve. Here, we investigate a matched series of sulfonamide inhibitors binding to three closely related human carbonic anhydrase isozymes (CA II, CA XII, and CA XIII) using isothermal titration calorimetry, fluorescence thermal shift assays, and high-resolution X-ray crystallography. Although these isozymes share nearly identical overall folds and exhibit highly similar intrinsic Gibbs energies of binding, their enthalpic and entropic contributions diverge

How to assess evidence about Science
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
