Earlier sources: Science
Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Intentional Forgetting of Autobiographical Memories: Current Neuroimaging Evidence and Moving Towards an Integrationist EEG-fMRI Approach ↗
Intentional Forgetting (INF) is one of many human memory processes which has gathered academic intrigue in emergent literature. Understood as a conscious and voluntary cognitive effort to suppress the recall of, or remove certain memories, INF has been extensively studied in associative paradigms. However, its application to autobiographical memory (AM) remains under-investigated, especially within neuroimaging studies. First, we summarize existing neuroimaging literature on intentional forgetting of autobiographical memories (INF-AM). Upon reviewing, we found evidence to be fragmented, provid

Self-Referential Social Processing in Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder: Advancing Theoretical Precision and Clinical Insights with Model-Based Neuroscience ↗
Background. Individuals with schizophrenia (SZ) and bipolar disorder (BD) often misjudge whether social cues, like eye contact, are meant for them, which can fuel symptoms and functional impairment. These difficulties appear to stem from disruptions in how social information is dynamically processed (“evidence accumulation”). We used neurocognitive joint modeling to investigate which neural signals shape evidence accumulation during gaze perception and whether these brain-behavior links help explain disrupted self-referential social processing.Methods. Leveraging EEG data from N=99 SZ, BD, and

Pretreatment gut microbiome signatures in hospitalized patients with COPD: sequence-level characterization and cross-cohort validation ↗
Abstract Background Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has important extrapulmonary manifestations, but whether pretreatment intestinal bacterial profiles carry clinically relevant information in hospitalized patients remains unclear. Methods This cross-sectional study included 30 hospitalized patients with COPD and 30 patients hospitalized with other respiratory diseases. Fresh stool was collected within 24 h of admission and before antibiotics or systemic glucocorticoids were administered. Bacterial 16S rRNA gene V3–V4 sequencing was used to characterize community organization, ide

Implementing an Intensified Dynamic Perfusion Process for Biologics Manufacturing at Scale and Continued Development. ↗
Perfusion cell culture is increasingly adopted to improve productivity, reduce footprint, and enable integrated continuous bioprocessing. The high-intensity, low-volume perfusion (HILVOP) process for antibody production was implemented at both 100 L pilot and 500 L manufacturing scales for early clinical supply, and development work was completed in tandem to create a next-generation HILVOP platform. The HILVOP process employs a dynamic two‑stage strategy, using cell‑controlled perfusion during the growth phase followed by product removal during the intensified production phase via tangential

Lewy Body Disease Across Aging: Clinical and Neuropathological Correlates in a Population Brain Bank. ↗
Lewy body disease (LBD) is defined by neuronal α-synuclein pathology, but how Braak-staged LBD relates to mixed neuropathology and clinical manifestations within a single population-based cohort remains incompletely characterized. This is especially relevant in cohorts enriched for younger individuals, which may better inform real-world biomarker interpretation and predictive value than cohorts dominated by the oldest-old. The objective of this study was to determine how Braak-staged LBD relates to age, mixed neuropathology, and clinical manifestations within a single population-based cohort.

EXPRESS: GABAA receptor α subunit distribution is congruent with functional anatomical areas in the human cortex. ↗
We recently published putative in vivo maps of GABAA receptor subtypes-α1/α3, α2, and α5. Here we tested how these maps align with functional anatomical cortical areas and large-scale functional networks. Cortical α subunit maps were projected to the symmetric fs_LR template and compared with the Human Connectome Project multi‑modal parcellation. Congruence was assessed by visual inspection, within‑parcel variability, and the distance‑controlled boundary coefficient (DCBC) with spin‑permutation null models. Subunit profiles were summarized per cortical area and related to functional networks.

Remodeling the Active Site of Sucrose Phosphorylase for Effective Resveratrol Glycosylation. ↗
The plasticity of the enzyme active site is widespread in naturally evolved homologous enzymes, but has been less explored in engineered enzymes. In this study, the plasticity of the active site in sucrose phosphorylases (SPs) for 3-O-α-glucopyranosyl-resveratrol synthesis was obtained. The mutant R135L/Y344Q of BlSP from Bifidobacterium lactis showed the same catalytic activity with the previous mutant Q345F, but displayed different microenvironment of active site and enzymatic properties. The new mutant could almost completely convert up to 15 g/L resveratrol into resveratrol glycoside witho

Life Expectancy for Parkinson Patients at Hoehn and Yahr Stage 5. ↗
Survival following the transition to Hoehn and Yahr stage 5 (HY5) in Parkinson's disease (PD) remains underexplored. We aimed to examine survival following HY5 transition and identify associated prognostic factors. We conducted a retrospective cohort study of 115 patients with PD who transitioned to HY5 and subsequently died. Linear regression was used to identify factors associated with survival from HY5 transition to death. Cox regression was performed as a sensitivity analysis. Mean survival following HY5 transition was 2.48 ± 2.20 years. Female sex was associated with longer survival, wher

In Vitro Hepatotoxicity and Cytochrome P450 (CYP) Inhibitory Potential of a Selected Commercial Herbal Supplement Juice. ↗
The surge in the consumption of commercial herbal supplement juice (CHSJ) is driven by the perception that natural products are inherently safe. However, many reach the market without rigorous toxicological evaluation, posing a hidden risk to public health. Despite their popularity, data regarding the hepatotoxic profiles of CHSJ and their interference with drug-metabolizing enzymes remain scarce. The present study addresses this critical knowledge gap by providing a multi-analytical toxicological characterization in vitro of a commercially available CHSJ, namely, Sample A marketed for women's

Introgression of Septoria Leaf Spot Resistance from Wild Solanum Species into Cultivated Tomato via Ovule Rescue, Bridging Backcrosses, and Identification of Candidate Resistance Loci. ↗
Septoria leaf spot (SLS), caused by Septoria lycopersici Speg., is an important and increasingly prevalent foliar disease of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) with no commercially resistant cultivars available. We screened 22 cultivated and wild accessions against a prevalent S. lycopersici isolate (WV21-1) and identified S. peruvianum LA2744 and S. corneliomulleri LA1910 as highly resistant (score 1 on a 1-to-5 scale), with S. arcanum LA1984 as resistant (score 2), whereas cultivated accessions scored 4 to 5. Using an optimized ovule rescue protocol with a 25-to-35-day rescue window after poll

How to assess evidence about Science
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
