THE INTERNET IS THINKING

Earlier sources: Science

Science investigates the natural world through observation, experiments, and mathematical models. Explore papers and developments in biology, medicine, materials, neuroscience, physics, climate, and mathematics; a reported finding is not necessarily established consensus.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

1681 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

MQSS-Selector: RL-Guided Pass Selection for an MLIR Compilation Pipeline ↗

High Performance Computing (HPC) and Quantum Computing (QC) systems are increasingly converging towards unified High Performance Computing-Quantum Computing (HPCQC) infrastructures, driven by a growing need to bridge classical and quantum workflows, which affects all levels of the system stack, from the hardware to compilers and runtimes, all the way to applications. However, today's QC devices are still in the Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) era, are error-prone and resource-limited, and therefore require specialized optimizations and topology mappings to achieve sufficient fidelity.…

Leg-Tied Tensor Network States: Entanglement Beyond Virtual Bonds ↗

We introduce a class of tensor-network states in which physical legs are shared among local tensors, termed leg-tied tensor ansätze (LETTA). Physical leg ties encode long-range correlations directly, while a virtual matrix product state (MPS) backbone retains short-range multipartite entanglement. The linear virtual backbone allows us to develop a deterministic density matrix renormalization group-like variational optimization algorithm using exact contractions over the active tie-boundary sets and local minimization. We demonstrate the advantages of LETTA for the two-dimensional frustrated $J…

Design Principles for Ultra-High-Rate Quantum Codes ↗

Reducing the qubit overhead of quantum error correction is a central challenge for scalable fault-tolerant quantum computing. Recent ultra-high-rate quantum codes offer a promising route toward this goal, with some constructions requiring as few as two physical data qubits per logical qubit. However, systematic principles for navigating the tradeoffs among encoding rate, distance, check weight, and blocklength remain lacking. Here, we develop and analyze principles for exploring this design space, and use them to design compact code constructions with improved performance. We develop code temp…

Beyond Bond Gauge: Exact Tensor-Network Tangent Spaces at Weighted Graph States ↗

For normal PEPS, the fundamental theorem settles at the finite level whether virtual-bond gauge exhausts a tensor network's representation freedom. We ask the first-order question at a fixed representation, from both sides of the differential: which tensor variations leave the state unchanged without being bond gauges, and which physical directions can no variation reach? We answer both exactly for weighted graph state (WGS) tensor networks with equal physical and bond dimension $q\ge2$, which include the graph-state resources of measurement-based quantum computation. Dividing a single-tensor…

EMMA: an R/Bioconductor package to automate tracking of metadata in functional enrichment analyses ↗

Summary: Functional enrichment analysis (FEA) is a widely used approach for interpreting high-throughput omics data. However, essential methodological details, such as software versions, analysis parameters, and annotation database releases among others, are often incompletely reported, limiting the reproducibility and transparency of enrichment analyses and complicating the assessment of potentially problematic methodological choices. Here we present EMMA, an R/Bioconductor package that integrates with existing FEA tools and automatically captures provenance metadata, such as annotation metad…

All you need is the universal correlation detector: A unified approach to universalize communication protocols over quantum channels ↗

Constructing optimal quantum information protocols without complete knowledge of the underlying states or channels is a central challenge. We address this challenge by developing universal correlation detection as a common building block for quantum communication. Our detectors distinguish a bipartite state from the product of its marginals and attain the same first-order asymptotic performance as optimal tests constructed with complete state information. For general bipartite quantum states, knowledge of a single marginal suffices: a detector depending only on that marginal is first-order opt…

    Computational Cryptography from Pseudoentanglement ↗

The advent of pseudoentanglement and computational entanglement theory bootstrapped a wave of research at the intersection of computer science and information theory. In parallel, computational cryptography has undergone substantial development, prompted by the introduction of pseudorandom states and followed by the establishment of a baseline for the computational hardness required for quantum cryptography, from which EFI pairs emerge as a central primitive. We study the connection between pseudoentanglement and computational cryptography through EFI pairs. Our goal is to enable the use of re…

Study of low-frequency core-edge coupling in a tokamak: III. Core-localized MHD continuum pulsations \& distant forced reconnection ↗

Slow magnetoacoustic pulsations (SMAPs) are found in MHD simulations of a tokamak plasma whose safety factor $q$ near the center is flat and slightly above unity ($q \gtrsim 1$). SMAPs are located on the central plateau of the slow magnetoacoustic continuum $ω_{\rm S} = k_\parallel c_{\rm S}$, where $c_{\rm S}$ is the speed of sound and $k_\parallel$ the wavenumber parallel to the magnetic field. In our model, SMAPs exist when the ion viscosity and thermal diffusivity are sufficiently low. They can be driven unstable by a pressure gradient in the $q \sim 1$ region when the electric resistivity…

One-shot Routing in Quantum Networks ↗

Distributed quantum computation requires many entangled pairs to be available simultaneously, so routing must optimize fidelity from a fixed, short-lived set of network resources rather than the rate of pairs accumulated over time. We formulate this one-shot routing problem for heterogeneous Werner-state links and jointly optimize path selection and the schedule of entanglement swapping and distillation. We show that the common purify-then-swap ordering is not optimal network-wide and that exact schedule enumeration requires $m^{Θ(m)}$ time. We introduce Fidelity-Optimizing Local Detours (FOLD…

How to assess evidence about Science

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
