Earlier sources: Physics
This science thread follows physics through original research, public projects, and source reports. Read the evidence below to see which developments are represented in SYMTRI’s archive.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗317 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Simulating Directed Evolution In Silico with an Iterative, Physics-Based Workflow ↗
Abstract Directed evolution consistently delivers engineered enzymes that facilitate diverse biocatalytic transformations. Despite advances in automation and high-throughput workflows, our ability to rapidly engineer novel enzymes is limited by our inability to thoroughly sample the vast protein design space. Generative artificial intelligence (AI) methods have alleviated this challenge to some degree, due to their ability to propose mutations based on learned patterns from complex protein data sets. However, the hidden logic of these AI-based methods can complicate our ability to reveal and e…

Fractional two-temperature dual-phase-lag bioheat transfer under electromagnetic heating: An analytical-physics-informed neural network framework ↗
This study develops a hybrid semi-analytical and physics-informed neural-network framework for transient thermoelastic heat transfer in biological tissue subjected to electromagnetic heating. The formulation combines a fractional two-temperature dual-phase-lag bioheat model with thermoelastic coupling, blood perfusion, temperature-dependent metabolic heat generation, and an effective Maxwell–Ohm Joule-heating source. The governing equations are solved in the Laplace domain and numerically inverted to generate reference temperature, displacement, and stress fields, which are subsequently used t…

Load-dependent fault signature evolution in three-level NPC inverter-fed induction motor drives via physics-based characterisation ↗
Abstract Reliable detection of faults in inverter-fed induction motor drives depends on a precise understanding of how diagnostic signatures evolve across the full operating range. Most published fault characterisation studies, however, are conducted at a single operating point and do not formally distinguish between features whose diagnostic value holds across the load range and those confined to specific load conditions. This paper addresses that gap through a systematic, physics-based characterisation of fault signatures in a three-level neutral-point-clamped (NPC) inverter-fed squirrel-cag…

A novel hybrid prediction approach for critical buckling strain of dented subsea pipelines coupling symbol regression and physics-informed neural networks ↗
This study proposes a novel hybrid approach to predict the critical buckling strain (CBS) of dented subsea pipelines by coupling symbolic regression (SR) with physics-informed neural networks (PINNs). A 3D finite element model was developed to simulate pressurization, indentation, and longitudinal bending, alongside an improved far-field average strain method to stably capture CBS. Parametric analyses generated a database, enabling the development of an explicit, interpretable CBS prediction equation (R 2 = 0.968) via a Genetic Programming (GP-SR) algorithm. This equation was subsequently embe…

Comparing Quantum and Classical Finite State Generators ↗
Bell-CHSH-like inequalities have been very successful in benchmarking spatial quantum correlations. However, as this paper illustrates, they are not necessarily sufficient for benchmarking temporal quantum correlations. To illustrate this, we parametrise classical and quantum stochastic finite state generators based on a single bit and a single qubit, respectively, and compare the temporal correlations of their output sequences using a Bell–CHSH-like inequality. We find that for sequential measurements by two observers, classical machines can exceed the Tsirelson bound of 22. To present at lea…

Mutual Transformations of Arbitrary Ternary Qubit Trees by Clifford Gates ↗
It is shown that ternary qubit trees with the same number of nodes can be transformed by the naturally defined sequence of Clifford gates into each other or into standard representation as 1-dimensional chain corresponding to Jordan–Wigner transform. Quanta 2026; 15: 24–30.

Recent Results of Exotic Physics Searches at the CMS Experiment ↗
The LHC has recently completed its Run 3 data taking, marking the transition toward the High-Luminosity LHC era. While searches for physics beyond the Standard Model have already excluded many models at TeV scales, further gains from luminosity alone become increasingly limited. This motivates the development of new experimental and analysis techniques that can access signatures and phase-space regions beyond the reach of conventional searches. This review summarizes recent CMS searches for exotic physics, and then focuses on a selection of analyses that employ particularly novel strategies. T…

Physics-Informed Transient Modeling of Methane Hydrate Transport Restrictions Using Petrobras 3W Offshore Well-Event Data ↗
Abstract Methane-dominant gas hydrate formation can restrict offshore production lines, alter pressure response, and interrupt natural-gas transport. Laboratory studies have established that hydrate growth depends on kinetic driving force, mass transfer, heat transfer, and hydrodynamic conditions, whereas field-data sets usually contain pressure, temperature, and flow signatures without direct hydrate-inventory measurements. This study presents a physics-informed framework for evaluating hydrate restriction signatures in offshore well data by combining robust field signal scoring with a one-di…

Physics-Guided Graph Safe Reinforcement Learning for High-Fidelity and Scalable Alternating Current Optimal Power Flow ↗
The alternating current (AC) optimal power flow (AC-OPF) problem is crucial for efficient power system operation, yet it remains challenging due to its nonlinear, nonconvex structure and numerous operational constraints. This paper introduces a Physics-guided Graph Safe Reinforcement Learning (PGSRL) framework that provides accurate, scalable, and physically consistent solutions to AC-OPF. The proposed PGSRL framework first models the power system as a weighted graph, encoding voltage magnitudes, load demands, and transmission line impedances to capture existing spatiotemporal correlations amo…

Quantum Computing in Space: Engineering Challenges, Fundamental Limits, and Perspectives ↗
Quantum computer deployment in space remains constrained by demanding hardware, environmental, and communications requirements. This paper reviews the opportunities and challenges of using quantum computing in space systems. It focuses on payload integration, radiation protection, quantum-memory stability, autonomous hybrid classical–quantum control, and quantum-network performance. The work is integrative, not novel in algorithms, architecture, optimization, or experiments. It organizes reviewed literature around system-level deployment barriers and highlights open research gaps. Compared wit…

How to assess evidence about Physics
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
