Earlier sources: Physics

This science thread follows physics through original research, public projects, and source reports. Read the evidence below to see which developments are represented in SYMTRI’s archive.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

307 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

    On PPT entanglement distillation ↗

We study entanglement distillation under operations that remain completely positive under partial-transpose conjugation, a.k.a. PPT channels, in the standard quantum Shannon theory regime of asymptotically vanishing but non-zero error. Our main results are: (a) a regularised formula for the PPT distillable entanglement in terms of a measured-relative-entropy-like quantity; and (b) two different single-letter converses, one based on operator quadratic forms and the other on Hirschman's strengthening of the Hadamard three-line theorem. As an immediate application of (b), we show that the PPT dis…

Entanglement entropy and magic of ZX-diagrams ↗

Entanglement and non-stabilizerness are complementary resources underlying the complexity of quantum states, yet extracting either quantity from large quantum circuits generally requires exponentially scaling resources. In diagrammatic approaches to quantum computation, such as the ZX-calculus, both quantities likewise typically require expensive tensor contractions that are not native to graphical rewriting. Here we show that both entanglement and magic can be efficiently estimated directly from ZX-diagrams. Flow enables efficient extraction of a normal form separating a potentially extensive…

Toward Joint Optimization of Circuit Depth and Training Data Size in Adaptively Grown Quantum Classifiers ↗

Building a quantum model involves a tradeoff: how complex the circuit should be, and how much training data it needs. Caro et al. show that models with fewer trainable gates need less training data to generalize well. Q-FLAIR shows that a quantum feature-map circuit can be grown gate-by-gate, stopping once further growth stops improving the training loss. We ask whether these two results combine into a predictable scaling law. Does Q-FLAIR's own stopping rule pick larger or smaller circuits as training data grows? Does the resulting generalization behavior track Caro et al.'s bound? We reimple…

A Physics-Informed Collision Learning Framework for Collaborative Robot Motion Generation ↗

Close-proximity multi-arm manipulation requires collision models that are both geometrically accurate and differentiable enough for real-time optimization. Classical geometry checkers provide reliable distances but are difficult to use inside gradient-based model predictive control, while conservative proxy models can restrict tightly coupled motion. We present PI-UDF, a physics-informed unified differentiable framework for body-to-body collision distance prediction between articulated robots. PI-UDF combines analytical forward kinematics with learnable link-geometry embeddings and a shared re…

Measure Now, Mitigate Later: Virtual Error Cancellation for Logical Quantum Circuits ↗

Early fault-tolerant quantum algorithms are a key step in scalable quantum computing, but are ultimately constrained by residual, uncorrectable logical errors. Logical quantum error mitigation can eliminate this bias, however its standard requirements include prior noise characterization, more complex experiments, and substantial sampling overhead. Although no mitigation technique can simultaneously overcome all three constraints, we demonstrate that the first two---noise learning and need for modified circuits---can be completely bypassed for logical circuits by leveraging only syndrome recor…

Constructing Large and Structured Decoherence-Free Subspaces in Hybrid Quantum Systems ↗

We develop a framework to construct large decoherence-free subspaces with a non-trivial structure. The construction is based on hybrid quantum systems in which quantum matter is coupled to a dissipative bosonic mode. Dissipation imposes a global constraint on the matter by selecting the matter null states in the long-time limit. The decoherence-free subspaces spanned by matter null states can exhibit exotic quantum properties and emergent symmetries that do not characterize the full Liouvillian dynamics. We show how to construct many-body operators with physically interesting null states by em…

Quantum Co-Design of Inhomogeneous Many-Body Neutrino Fast Flavor Transformation ↗

Dense-neutrino flavor evolution is a quantum many-body problem whose fully correlated treatment becomes rapidly more expensive with increasing particle number and spatial structure. We develop a \texttt{QCNO} quantum simulation code that maps a inhomogeneous forward-scattering neutrino Hamiltonian with advection and finite-range interactions to TEBD2 product-formula quantum circuits, and connects ideal many-body simulation, backend-aware execution, and fault-tolerant resource estimation within the same physical model. We reproduce the exact many-body evolution of the suppressed mean-field-like…

Ask HN: What happened with quantum computers anyway? ↗

Back in 2024 there were a lot of news regarding quantum computers and even some claims of quantum supremacy, with famous bloggers like Scott Aaronson having very heated arguments online on whether those claims were real or not. We are now approaching the end of 2026 and it feels like not much has happened since then but I was curious to hear from people working on this field.

    Residual-Guided Global-Drive Design in Trapped-Ion Quantum Simulators ↗

Trapped-ion quantum simulators are powerful platforms for exploring many-body physics, yet engineering of arbitrary interaction graphs remains a central challenge. To leverage the intrinsic structure of native motional modes and thereby enhance programmability, a residual-guided optimization protocol is introduced for the systematic design of multi-tone global drive spectra. While the achievable interaction fidelity is fundamentally bounded by the available motional modes, this adaptive strategy converges on the theoretical limit using a number of laser tones that scales nearly linearly with s…

Accessing electronic entanglement via photo-assisted two-electron tomography ↗

Witnessing entanglement between electrons propagating in quantum circuits requires accessing their two-electron coherences, which encode the two-particle quantum correlations generated by Coulomb interactions. Yet, experimental reconstruction of two-electron coherence remains a major challenge. We introduce photo-assisted two-electron tomography, a quantum coherence reconstruction protocol from dc-currents and time-averaged current correlations, routinely measured in electron quantum optics experiments. Driving an energy filter with a small rf tone encodes off-diagonal coherences in the freque…

How to assess evidence about Physics

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
