Earlier sources: Physics

This science thread follows physics through original research, public projects, and source reports. Read the evidence below to see which developments are represented in SYMTRI’s archive.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

291 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

An exponential separation between entanglement-assisted and unassisted one-way quantum communication ↗

A longstanding question in quantum communication complexity is whether some task can be accomplished with a small amount of communication in the presence of entanglement, yet require much more quantum communication in the absence of entanglement. Separations of this nature were previously known for relational problems and, in the simultaneous message passing model, for partial functions. But it has remained unresolved whether any such separation exists for a total Boolean function. We resolve this question with an exponential separation in the one-way setting: we exhibit a family of total Bool…

Quantum state preparation for weighted d-DNNF ↗

The quantum state preparation problem is to, given a description of a quantum state, efficiently generate a quantum circuit computing the state. We show that for quantum states described by weighted d-DNNF (deterministic, decomposable pseudo-Boolean circuits) a quantum circuit computing the state can be obtained in linear time up to complex arithmetic.

Learnt Attacks on Quantum Key Distribution under Channel Noise and Device Drift ↗

Quantum key distribution (QKD) links are provisioned from security analyses of stationary channels, whereas the devices that determine the channel drift between recalibrations. Whether an eavesdropper who cannot alter the channel's own noise gains by following that drift has not been quantified. Adaptive eavesdropping is posed here as a constrained Markov decision process in which the attacker selects one circuit per round while the noise level follows an Ornstein--Uhlenbeck process and the abort condition is a budget over each block of rounds. The value of adaptation is bounded by the best fi…

QUFIG: GNN-Based Prediction of Quantum Fault Injection Vulnerabilities with Gate-Level Precision ↗

The growing scale and accessibility of quantum hardware exposed new reliability and security challenges in the quantum computing workflow, such as the run-time fault injection attacks in cloud-based quantum computing platforms. However, existing works fail to identify vulnerabilities with gate-level precision or adapt to run-time environments. In this work, we formulate gate-level fault analysis as a learning-guided prioritization problem under restricted fidelity budgets. The framework uses a circuit-DAG-based GNN backbone to predict the vulnerability score of each gate to each type of inject…

From η′ physics to the Columbia plot in a U(3) holographic QCD model ↗

A bstract We construct a U(3) extension of a soft-wall holographic QCD model to investigate how a phenomenological determinant interaction affects the pseudoscalar nonet and the finite-temperature chiral phase structure. The holographic-coordinate-dependent determinant interaction dynamically generates the η - η ′ mass splitting and singlet-octet mixing. By analyzing pseudoscalar spectra, decay constants, mixing parameters, and quark-mass dependence, we find that vacuum pseudoscalar observables constrain the overall size of the determinant contribution but do not uniquely determine its hologra…

Physics-informed neural operators for the in situ characterization of locally reacting sound absorbers ↗

Accurate knowledge of acoustic surface admittance or impedance is essential for reliable wave-based simulations, yet its in situ estimation remains challenging due to noise, model inaccuracies, and restrictive assumptions of conventional methods. This work presents a physics-informed neural operator approach for estimating frequency-dependent surface admittance directly from near-field measurements of sound pressure and particle velocity. A deep operator network is employed to learn the mapping from measurement data, spatial coordinates, and frequency to acoustic field quantities, while simult…

Quantum Autoencoders for Network Anomaly Detection: A Comparative Benchmark with Classical Methods ↗

The practical value of quantum machine learning for network anomaly detection remains unclear under controlled and comparable benchmarking conditions. This study evaluates a trash-qubit-based Quantum Autoencoder (QAE) against seven classical anomaly-detection methods on UNSW-NB15 using shared data partitions, preprocessing steps, model selection procedures, and threshold calibration protocols. The experimental design included five independent seeds, three training set sizes, two feature budgets, and 12 QAE architectures, together with low-FPR analysis, finite-shot and synthetic-noise evaluatio…

    Antiferroelectric phase-field simulations via scale-invariant physics-informed neural operators ↗

Abstract Optimizing antiferroelectric (AFE) energy-storage microstructures via phase-field modeling is computationally prohibitive due to immense spatial and temporal constraints. First, accurately capturing the highly frustrated commensurate and incommensurate AFE phases requires exceptionally fine spatial resolutions to resolve sharp, high-frequency antiparallel dipole gradients. Second, simulating path-dependent double hysteresis loops requires quasi-static loading, where time-dependent evolution equations must be rigorously integrated at every electric-field increment until the macroscopic…

Physics-prior-guided compensation for spatially varying degradation in confocal endoscopy ↗

Field-dependent blur and frequency-response loss limit miniature confocal endoscopic imaging. We introduce a physics-prior-guided dual-branch residual network that combines the degraded image with normalized field coordinates and calibration-derived MTF, PSF, SNR, and intensity-response maps. For the representative peripheral resolution-target region, the peak-to-valley difference increased from 0.23 to 0.36, and image-derived MTF50 increased from 16.7 to 40.4 lp/mm. Across 196 patches extracted from the four displayed source images, the proposed method achieved an NRMSE of 0.1394 and an SSIM…

How to assess evidence about Physics

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
