Earlier sources: Biotechnology

This science thread follows biotechnology through original research, public projects, and source reports. Read the evidence below to see which developments are represented in SYMTRI’s archive.

SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.

236 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.

Earlier sources

Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Genome-Wide DNA Methylation Profiling in Patients with Hypertension and Asymptomatic Intracranial Atherosclerotic Stenosis. ↗

Background Hypertension is a major risk factor for intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS), a leading cause of ischemic stroke in Asian populations. However, conventional risk factors only partially account for the pathogenesis of ICAS, underscoring the potential roles of epigenetic mechanisms. Methods We performed genome-wide DNA methylation profiling of 218 Chinese patients with hypertension using an Illumina Infinium Methylation EPIC 850K BeadChip. Identified differentially methylated positions (DMPs) were validated via pyrosequencing in 281 patients without asymptomatic ICAS (aICAS) w

Complete genome sequence of Salmonella enterica subsp. houtenae from the oral cavity of a diseased blue-tongued lizard ( Tiliqua sp.). ↗

A Salmonella enterica strain BT from the oral cavity of a diseased blue-tongued lizard was sequenced on the Oxford Nanopore platform. The assembled 4.8 Mbp genome consists of one circular chromosome and one circular plasmid (pBT). In silico serotyping suggested a rare serovar 40:z 4 ,z 23 :- of the subspecies houtenae (IV).

Draft genome sequence of a multidrug-resistant Streptococcus gallolyticus strain MTR-Sg-DF01 isolated from an apparently healthy domestic duck. ↗

We report the draft genome sequence of a multidrug-resistant Streptococcus gallolyticus strain MTR-Sg-DF01, isolated from the feces of an apparently healthy duck. The 2.05-Mb genome harbored the resistance genes qac G, van T, and van Y, but lacked plasmids, and encoded a Bovicin 255 biosynthetic cluster, highlighting its relevance to zoonotic AMR surveillance.

Genome mining and metabolomics reveal context-dependent biosynthetic potential in a core poplar dark septate endophyte. ↗

Dark septate endophytes (DSEs) are ubiquitous root-colonizing fungi characterized by melanized, septate hyphae and a frequent association with plants in stressful or nutrient-poor environments. Although DSEs are increasingly recognized for context-dependent effects on host stress resilience, the specialized metabolic capacity of many DSE lineages remains poorly resolved. Hyaloscypha finlandica is a recurrent root-associated fungus of Populus and other hosts, making it a useful system for understanding symbiotic mechanisms using multi-omics analyses. Here, we combined comparative biosynthetic g

RA-PLA: Retrieval-augmented graph convolutional networks for protein-ligand binding affinity prediction ↗

Protein-ligand binding affinity (PLA) prediction is essential for computational drug discovery, yet existing deep learning methods typically employ a single globally trained model that fails to adapt to individual query samples. In this paper, we propose a novel end-to-end framework that retrieves hard protein-ligand pairs-samples whose nearest neighbors have conflicting labels under manifold smoothness constraints-and integrates them via a semi-supervised graph convolutional network (GCN). For each query, we automatically construct a graph where nodes represent protein-ligand pairs and edges…

RNA-binding protein CIRBP mediates PKM2 intron retention to negatively regulate multiple myeloma progression and macrophage alternative activation ↗

Multiple myeloma (MM) is a systemic malignancy characterized by the induction of osteolytic lesions. Cold-inducible RNA binding protein (CIRBP) has garnered attention in cancer research due to its dual role as either an oncogene or a tumor suppressor. In this study, publicly available single-cell RNA sequencing data, MM cell lines, and an in vivo xenograft model are utilized to assess the biological significance of CIRBP in MM. Analysis reveals frequent communication between MM cells and macrophages, alongside decreased CIRBP expression in patients. Functionally, CIRBP overexpression in MM cel…

How to assess evidence about Biotechnology

Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
