THE INTERNET IS THINKING
Earlier sources: Hardware
Hardware is the physical foundation of computing: chips, sensors, devices, networks, and the processes that manufacture them. Follow semiconductor research, compute architectures, and engineering developments alongside their software and energy connections.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗527 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. Recent momentum: steady. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Earlier sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

Simulation-based multi-objective decision support for Comprehensive Digital Twins of smart manufacturing systems ↗
Decision support in Smart Manufacturing Systems (SMSs) often requires balancing conflicting objectives related to multiple system dimensions, such as maximizing the number of completed products while minimizing energy consumption and CO₂ emissions. Comprehensive Digital Twins (CDTs) integrate multiple system dimensions within one executable model to support multidimensional analysis and multi-objective decision-making. However, an automatically extracted, simulation-ready CDT is not inherently optimization-ready because controllable parameters, admissible ranges, optimization objectives, and d…

Citric Acid–Urea Modification of Dual-Plasticized Starch Adhesives for Medium-Density Fiberboard Manufacturing ↗
Formaldehyde-free starch adhesives offer a renewable alternative to conventional binders used in medium-density fiberboard (MDF), but their application remains limited by poor moisture resistance and insufficient mechanical performance. The aim of this research work was to investigate and evaluate the combined effects of sorbitol and glycerol plasticizers, citric acid modification, and urea addition on the properties of starch-based adhesives and the resulting MDF panels. Five adhesive formulations were prepared and characterized using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and differe…

A Scalable and Efficient Hardware Accelerator for Realtime EMG-based Gesture Recognition using Deep Learning ↗
Abstract Real-time hand gesture recognition from surface electromyography (sEMG) is a key enabling technology for myoelectric prostheses. Deploying accurate deep learning models on resource-constrained wearable hardware remains a central challenge. This paper evaluates the OpenEye FPGA accelerator for inference of a multi-scale 1D-CNN on the Ninapro DB2 benchmark dataset recorded from healthy subjects. We characterize classification accuracy across a hyperparameter grid (kernel configuration, window size, pool size) and assess the impact of post-training INT8 quantization. OpenEye achieves inf…

Towards Understanding the Bugs in Verilator, a Hardware Description Language Compiler ↗
Verilator is the premier open-source Hardware Description Language (HDL) compiler. It transforms Verilog and SystemVerilog designs into optimized C++ or SystemC models, enabling high-speed, cycle-accurate simulation prior to large-scale production. As a cornerstone of the hardware verification ecosystem, the correctness of Verilator is paramount; compiler faults can lead to silent simulation errors or unexpected failures, undermining the integrity of the hardware development lifecycle. Unlike traditional software compilers, HDL compilers manage unique concurrency and synthesis semantics, poten…

Manufacturing process effects on multiaxial mechanical behavior and anisotropy evolution of fiber-reinforced polymer composites for automotive applications ↗
Processing-induced variations play a crucial role in defining the mechanical anisotropy and structural efficiency of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites. This study investigates the multiaxial mechanical behavior and anisotropy of unidirectional carbon (CFRP), glass (GFRP), and basalt (BFRP) epoxy composites fabricated using two controlled processing techniques: hand lay-up (HLU) and vacuum-assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM). Process-based density, fiber volume fraction, and void content are quantitatively correlated with tensile, compression, in-plane shear, flexural, and interlami…

Towards a reliability-aware virtual sensor framework for smart water infrastructure: An offline residual-based change-point analysis ↗
Water utilities increasingly depend on Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) sensors to support infrastructure planning, predictive asset maintenance, operational asset monitoring, and digital-twin applications. However, physical IIoT sensors remain vulnerable to sensor drift, calibration degradation, device failure, and communication outages, creating data observability gaps that can reduce confidence in analytics-driven operational decisions. Virtual sensors can reconstruct and predict measurements using historical and correlated sensor data streams; however, their reliability remains difficu…

StEdge: A Low-Power Real-Time Hardware Accelerator for Edge Detection Using Stochastic Computing ↗
Edge detection is a fundamental operation in real-time image and video processing systems. However, conventional gradient-based hardware implementations incur significant power, area, and computational overheads. This work presents StEdge, a low-power, configurable hardware accelerator for real-time edge detection based on stochastic computing (SC), supporting both Sobel and Prewitt gradient operators within a unified architecture. The proposed design reformulates gradient computation in the stochastic domain, replacing arithmetic-intensive operations with lightweight logic gates. To further r…

Integrity-Aware Hierarchical Navigation for UAVs Under GNSS Spoofing and Multi-Sensor Degradation ↗
Global navigation satellite system (GNSS) navigation-measurement spoofing is a critical threat to autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) because deceptive measurements may remain numerically plausible while progressively corrupting the navigation state. This paper presents an integrity-aware hierarchical navigation framework designed to maintain mission continuity under GNSS spoofing and subsequent degradation of the LiDAR–inertial fallback. During nominal operation, GNSS is cross-validated against an independent LiDAR–IMU error-state Kalman filter solution using normalized innovation squa…

Numerical investigation of a perovskite-MXene functionalized D-shaped photonic crystal fiber-based SPR sensor for refractive index sensing ↗
D -shaped fibers offer a practical platform for depositing plasmonic and functional materials, enabling efficient coupling of optical energy into the sensing medium. In this work, a highly sensitive perovskite–MXene-based D -shaped photonic crystal fiber ( D -PCF) surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor is proposed and numerically characterized using the finite element method (FEM). Silver is employed as the plasmonic material due to its excellent SPR response, while perovskite and MXene layers are incorporated to enhance light–matter interaction and improve sensing performance owing to their f…

GPU-Accelerated Quantum Simulation of Stabilizer Circuits ↗
We introduce new parallel algorithms for efficiently simulating stabilizer (Clifford) circuits on GPUs, with a focus on data-parallel tableau evolution and scalable handling of projective measurements. Our approach reformulates key bottlenecks in stabilizer simulation – such as Gaussian elimination and measurement updates – into GPU-tailored primitives that eliminate sequential dependencies and maximize memory coalescing. We implement these techniques in QuaSARQ, a GPU-accelerated stabilizer simulator designed for large qubit counts and many-shot sampling. Across a broad benchmark suite reachi…

How to assess evidence about Hardware
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
