Devices
This hardware thread follows devices through original research, public projects, and source reports. Read the evidence below to see which developments are represented in SYMTRI’s archive.
SYMTRI organizes observations from public sources into a living map. Connections reflect shared subject matter; they do not establish causation or endorse a source.
Open in the map ↗9 classified signals in the fourteen-day window. These counts include signals awaiting readable evidence.
Recent sources
Up to ten sources with readable evidence, ordered by their feed timestamp. These archive sources can be older than the live fourteen-day window. This list is a sample, not a measure of total activity. Dates distinguish paper publication, repository creation, model/dataset activity, Hacker News posts, and KEV catalog additions. “First archived” records when SYMTRI first stored the signal.

CoWear: Towards Collaborative Wearable Inertial Localization with Multiple Smart Devices ↗
Consumer smart devices observe the same human motion from different body locations, yet existing inertial-localization benchmarks rarely provide synchronized heterogeneous wearables with device-specific motion ground truth. We present CoWear, a dataset and reference framework for collaborative inertial localization using a smartphone, smartwatch, and smart glasses. The dataset contains over 30 participants, over 300 walking sessions, and more than 30 hours and 100 km of aggregate device trajectories, with each device individually tracked by motion capture. To enable collaboration across distin…

600 °C selective epitaxial growth of SiGe:B for FD-SOI devices ↗
The 600 °C Selective Epitaxial Growth (SEG) of SiGe:B layers was investigated, the aim being to fabricate Raised Sources and Drains (RSDs) on each side of p-type Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistors. We indeed strove to decrease by 50 °C the growth temperature compared to our 650 °C reference process in order to benefit from higher active boron concentrations, e.g. lower electrical resistivities. A co-flow approach with a chlorinated chemistry was used. Two processes were investigated: Process 1 at 20 Torr and Process 2 at 10 Torr. They were tailored in terms of mass-flows in ord…

Scalable low-thermal-budget fabrication of suspended silicon nanowire devices ↗
Silicon nanowires (Si NWs) are versatile one-dimensional building blocks for gas and biochemical sensors, MEMS/NEMS physical transduction platforms, and integrated electronic devices because of their high surface-to-volume ratios and compatibility with semiconductor processing. A key limitation of conventional top-down fabrication is its reliance on furnace-based high-temperature steps, such as thermal oxidation and LPCVD, which can induce residual stress and constrain post-CMOS integration because of thermal-budget limits above 400 °C. Here, we present a furnace-free, low-thermal-budget fabri…

InAsSb surface quantum well with in situ deposited Nb as a platform for hybrid devices ↗
Abstract Semiconductor-superconductor hybrid materials form the basis of quantum devices ranging from gate-tunable qubit platforms to topological quantum applications. These applications require material combinations that offer strong spin-orbit coupling and a large superconducting gap. Here, we present a semiconductor-superconductor hybrid material based on a molecular beam epitaxially grown Indium Arsenide Antimonide surface quantum well with an in-situ deposited Niobium layer. The Indium Arsenide Antimonide surface quantum well offers a low effective mass and strong spin-orbit interaction,…

HAR-ASIC: A Configurable Edge-AI Human Activity Recognition Circuit for Ultra-Low Power Wearable Devices ↗
We present an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) using digital hardware design to maximise energy-efficiency of human activity recognition (HAR) in autonomous wearable devices. The HAR-ASIC was designed in 22 nm technology and includes a battery of configurable, hardware-optimised feature extraction functions along with a decision tree ensemble classifier, thus serving as an edge AI device for local sensor data processing. We validate the HAR-ASIC based on post-layout process data with five HAR datasets and show the design scalability for configurations to maximise energy saving an…

Conductive Gels for Wearable and Attachable Healthcare Devices: Materials, Sensing Mechanisms, Interfaces and Applications ↗
Wearable and attachable healthcare devices provide valuable insights across a broad range of applications, from health monitoring and disease diagnosis to the assessment of daily human activities. For these devices, both the formation of high-performance electrodes and mechanical, electrical, and physiological stability at human-device interfaces are critically important. Conductive gels, which combine deformable polymer networks with electrical conductivity, show considerable potential as functional materials for such applications. However, existing reviews have often considered material prop…

Real-Time Fall Detection in Indoor Environments Using FMCW Radar and Lightweight Ensemble CNN on Edge Devices ↗
Falls are a leading cause of injury and mortality among the elderly, particularly indoors where privacy concerns limit real-time monitoring. This study developed a privacy-preserving, real-time fall detection system using a frequency-modulated continuous wave radar sensor and a lightweight convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture deployed on an edge device. To address the limitations of wearable and vision-based methods, the system leverages contactless radar sensing and an ensemble of two independent CNN models, namely, a base model designed to capture the entire fall sequence for high…

How to assess evidence about Devices
Check each original source for its methods, release status, limitations, and supporting data. A repository announcement, a preprint, and a published study provide different kinds of evidence. SYMTRI’s subject classification helps discovery; it does not independently validate the source’s claims.
